D's are the more expensive. A is least, B, C and then D.

Char: It could mean a millions of things depending on who made up the grading scheme. Being logical, it might mean a less expensive stone if the highest level is "A". As far as quality, granite is granite and it's structured the same way no matter the price. Usually price is determined by how common or exotic the stone is.
