Fran: Absolutely! another option is Kashmir Gold.

We will have "marshmallow" (darker than white but lighter than ivory) cabinets with a bronze glaze. Our island will be a dark cherry wood. Floors are natural oak. Plenty of natural light. We are struggling with granite for entire space--would this work or Madura Gold Light? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

sue: Perhaps the Bordeaux, it's richer and warmer.

I have light woods BRUCE floors, resurfacing my cabinets to a very pale yellow painted with glazing in warm, light brown, stainless oven/micro, built in dish and fridge. Ajoining room roasted sesame ben moore paint, lots of golds and warm tones. Considering Madura Gold but wondering if it'll be too monocromatic. Don't love the look of dark granite and light floors and cabinets. Any suggestions PLEASE for granite choices?

lucy: Maybe a little too much gold? Kashmir Gold is a tad softer.

I have oak cabinets with gunstock stain along with oak (whiskey) floors. The gunstock matches color in the floor. There is also some gold color in the floor. The kitchen walls are a light gray color with white trim. Do you think medura gold granite will work?

Karen: I would go with the Madura Gold, it will create a very warm look with your kitchen set-up. Good luck!

I love this Madura Gold, but I have yellowish Maple cabinets and the same colored floors. I have thought about Verde Peacock, but am worried about having to decorate around the blue/green. I love one called Asterix Supreme that I can\'t find a picture of the one that I saw in the showroom with Amber streaking. But my biggest concern is not knowing if I like the dark contrast against the yellow. I think I prefer the lighter tones, but don\'t know what works best.

Rose: I would go for the color. There are clever ways to eliminate seams. You can raise one part of the island and make it bi-level or do something like pictured in photo #198 (last one on page 11).

One final Q if I may! If it were you, would you do anything to avoid a seam in the island, or would you focus more on the slab. I saw another stone, a typhoon bordeaux which would be great and seems like more of a contrast with both cabinets. How much of an eyesore is even a well done seam? Thanks very much.

Rose: Ok. Well it still works. It just shifts the focus differently. With the cream perimeter cabinets, Madura would be a low contrast color (but still enough not to blend in), while the island becomes the star of the kitchen with a more elaborate play on colors. I would stick to MG because of its organic pattern. And lastly, yes, I would try to get the floor lighter than the island cabinet. Otherwise it might decrease the separation from the rest of the kitchen and take away from the dramatic look.

Sorry for the confusion, actually, the island is in the chestnut cherry - does that make a difference? More importantly, would you choose MG over giallo ornamentale or new venetian gold with this combination of finishes? Also, wood floors will be oak with a chestnut stain-would your preference be to go lighter on the floors than on the island if we went with Madura Gold? Thanks a lot!

Rose: So I understand that the island cabinet is cream and the rest of the cabinets are cherry? If so, Madura will be a nice fit in there. While the island might be lacking some contrast within itself, in the grand scheme of things, it will stand its own ground in the whole kitchen.

I have a huge problem. My KD increased the size of the island, so that we need a 135" slab in order to avoid a seam in the island. We've shopped around everywhere and found two -madura gold and new venetian gold. Cabinets are cream with brown glaze and chestnut stained cherry. Would the madura work or be too bland with the cream? Which would you choose?

I am getting natural maple cabinets. My floor has the same color and movement as madura gold. I do not want black marble. It is getting too popular. Will madura gold work for me?

Nancy: I'd probably stick to a lighter color if your lighting is limited. The darker stones might appear black.

I have Honey Oak Cabinets with natural oak floors, but natural light is limited, mostly artificial, would you suggest a granite such as ubutuba or a light madura gold or something else?

Since your floor is brown, I would try to tie into that color. Perhaps a Giallo Firenza.

I have light colored cherry cabinets and I was wondering if you could suggest which granite counter top might look best with it. Our floor is a dark brown. Thank you

does madura gold blend well with cherry cabinets?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Depending on how light your cabinets are, I'd probably go with something darker to create more contrast.
