Frances: Bianco Romano is primarily very light (the way you want it) with darker, black veining, which would tie-in the galaxy nicely, not a bad idea. |

No doubt that I stay full of uncertainty since I have been shopping for granite. It doesn't take much to sway me another way. I went to the tile store today to order my backsplash (Cane herringbone- ordered Yea!) and discussed my Kashmire white Island with the sales lady. She highly suggested that I look at Bianco Romano instead of Kashmire White, stating that that was a much softer look with much better \"flow\" in the design and would look great with Black Galaxy. I know that it comes down to individual opinion and I will have to eventually decide and go with it. I appreciate your feedback and would like to know which would you prefer with the Black Galaxy perimeter- Kashmire White or Bianco Romano:) |

Frances: I think your original idea for the reversed colors is a good idea and will work very well together, complimenting each other. I shouldn’t have used the word monotonous to describe this scheme because it does have variation, just not a lot of color, its a very modern design. There is no doubt that Kashmire will go good with Black Galaxy and I’m sorry for planting uncertainty. If you want to change this scheme, perhaps going with one granite type and one cabinet color for your whole kitchen would be good. |

hmmm...monotonous does not sound good. Do you have a better granite choice for the Island? I'm pretty set on the black galaxy for the perimeter. Originaly I planned to use it on the perimeter and island. I was thinking that reversing the colors on the island may add a little more drama. Would you recommend two granite types and if so, what granite for the island? |
|

Frances: That’s a very interesting choice in decoration that will stand out. Your granite choices for both your island and perimeter countertops will work well with your choices of cabinet colors and the cane (tan) backsplash. However, although your kitchen will match nicely, it may be a little too monotonous. |

I'm in a granite nightmare and need some assistance. I have painted my kitchen cabinets Alabaster white and now thinking that I want my peripheral countertop to be black galaxy, my island to be kashmire white and paint the cabinet black. I have picked out a glass tile herrinbone pattern backsplash from Ocean Tile in the color of Cane, thinking the cane color would match the flecks of color in the Black Galaxy. Would the island in kashmire white look good with the black galaxy? |

my mahargani wood color is a little bit different with my kitchen wood color. and some solarius is not that orange, instead brownish or golden which I just found couple days ago. I also checked the Bordeaux which is very pink melt with black does not have brown or cream at all. I will revisit the new solarius I saw tomorrow then make decision. Also, does fabricator supposed to charge material tax fee? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-10-07 14:35:56 |
Kathy Huang: Solarius is very nice, but as you said there might be too much orange. You have to see the slab in person and put your wood sample against it to see how they compliment each other. |

Thank you. I will take a look Bordeaux granite! How about solarius? I like it but sometimes I feel it is too orange or too brown? Is Bordeaux similiar Solarius? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-10-06 12:55:01 |
Kathy Huang: Okay -- check out the Bordeaux family of stones, they are rich with color and have reds in them. Also, something more toned down like the New Venetian Gold or Santa Cecilia would also be appropriate. |

Jeff: With us it is the supply and demand factor, other places I don't know. The rarity of our stones makes the price go up, they are all the same quality |

I do not like it too dark like black or blue pearl since I hope it has some brown, brick red, black like my oak cabinet and some ivory/white and gets some color from my mahargani wood which has some reddish , brown. Actually I like your Shiva Kashmir Pink but I could not find many granite yard in Austin, tx. I have to see whole slab to imagine if it is good. I also feel Solarius seems match but some of Solarius are too much dark brown. I like some golden/orange brown but not too much orange since my cabinet has some kind brick red on it. |

I have oak kitchen cabinets with orange brown color with many black swirling lines, and I have cream/light peachy merifer tile floor, but on the other side of tounter bar top is the living room with mahagani wood floor; what granite is good for my countertop? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-06-15 10:21:40 |
Andi: Contrast is good. You can go with a few different approaches. White with red, like the stone above is one choice. You can also go for golds. And finally you can go for reds. Many many options. Check out the Stone Gallery. |

Hi, my kitchen has cherry cabinets with a french walnut finish and the flooring is wood laminate in pretty much the same shade as the cabinets. What would you choose for granite, especially since everything else is a bit dark?? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-06-06 09:06:05 |
SONDRA: It's a good choice. Just make sure you really like it, since it has quite a lot of red. That might limit you in the long run, should you want to change the color scheme. |

I have cherry stained maple cabinets. My floors are porcelain(consisting of white with brownish/golden,and grayish veins). I would like to use the same porcelain tiles as a back splash, but I am not sure of the which counter top will go well with it. I like the Shiva Kasmir Pink. What do you think?
Thanks |

Many thanks for your assistance. We will be in to see the stone in person, but I think it will be Persian Gold |

Cindy: Lets start with the easy stuff :) Some of the more fancy edges like Cove Dupont or Waterfall make the stone very thin at the bottom. While it does make them more vulnerable than the simple edges, you'd still need quite some force to break it off. To date, we have not had one service call in relation to such accident (and that's 13 years of business). Now going back to the colors. I'm starting to like your selections! Both Desert River and Persian Gold are excellent choices. You'll have plenty of contrast from both because of their intense patterns. I didn't know you like such lively movement, otherwise I wouldn't suggest white at all! |

Continued from previous post--Two others that I like are Persian Gold and Bosa Nova. Also a question about edges--my friend told me that fancier edges break more easily than the standard ones. Is there any truth to that?
Thanks again. |

It\'s Cindy again. I\'m the one with the Quaker Maid traditional Cherry cabinets, Old Forge Finish, SS appliances, beige title floor. Kitchen is 9 ft. x 17 ft and there is a 40 X 50 inch built-in table that will also be granite. It has one large window. I originally asked you about Shiva Kashmir Pink or Golden Rock? You suggested the Kashmir Pink or something in white. I keep going over the white colors, but I am drawn to the darker granites like the Golden Rock, 821 Juparana Gem, or 123 Desert River. Do you think they would work or would it be a disaster?
Is there a white you particularly like with the cherry.
Thank you for your assistance. |

Please help me, I have cherry cabinets no backsplash yet and my floor is travertine - picasso. What granit should I use as my countertop, is shiva kashmir pink will be OK or mayby I shoul go with something else. Thanks |

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I'll review the whites and ask your opinion again. |

All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-04-27 09:22:29 |
Cindy: Easy questions first: Tile backsplash can be added at any time after the installation of the countertops. Because of the limited lighting and a rather narrow kitchen, I would lean towards the lighter color. So Kashmir pink or even white would be my choice there. |

I\'m having a really hard time deciding and would appreciate your help. Have Quaker Maid traditional Cherry cabinets, Old Forge Finish, SS appliances, beige title floor. Kitchen is rather small, (9 ft. x 17 ft ) and there is a 40 X 50 inch built-in table that will also be granite. It has one large window. What do you think of either Shiva Kashmir Pink or Golden Rock? Do you have any other suggestions that might work better?
We\'re on somewhat of a budget. How difficult would it be to add a title backsplash at a later date or should it be done at the same time?
Thank you for your assistance. |

my cabinets are white with a rose tiled floor. I'm concerned that the Shiva Pink may be too light and the Golden Rock too dark. What are your thoughts? |

What is the nameumber of this color? I have hazlenut glaze Kraftmaid cabinets, ceramic tile floor that looks like dark, distressed wood and stainless apps. Any color suggestions would be much appreciated, I am looking for beige with brown tones- minimal black and gold that isn't too yellow...if that is possible. |
