Amanda J: New Venetian Gold or Santa Cecilia.

Name: Amanda J

We just purchased maple auburn glaze cabilnets. Our floor is tan tiles and one wall is orange and the others are a tan color. The kitchen and livingroom have a half wall seperating them with a set of cabinets in the wall and is going to have a slab of granite ontop of it for us to use as the kitchen table due to the fact the kitchen is very small. We do not know what kind of granite we want or what will go good with the darker cabinets and light floors. My boyfriend like one we seen at Lowes. I think it was called Ballistic or something. It was a rather rocky look (big chunks of rock). I prefer the smaller chunks of color. Maybe something in the middle would work. PLEASE HELP :)

marlinga: It has more stress marks than the average stone, but once it is in place on your cabinets you have nothing to worry about, it's the transportation that is a concern and we take care of that.

Is deicactus gold a good granite for countertops?I heard it is not strong.

geoge f.: I think with sufficient lighting you could pull it off, but it won't be easy. The dark stone on dark cabinets will tend to gravitate towards black.

would dark cabinets work with black-grey granite with a cream backsplash and cream tiles?

Hello. We have similiar cabinets as your photo (but a smaller kitchen). We have Santa Cecilia granite (more beige/brown in color than some). Anyhow, I was wondering if you know what stones were used for the backsplash in this photo? I think it would be nice in my kitchen. Thanks

Kevin: Crema Bordeaux is surely a nice stone. Also have a look at Champagne Florencia, Arandis Chocolate, and other similar stones.

Date: 2009-01-19 10:11:25

Do you have any recommendations with regard to a dark color granite? Crema Bordeaux?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2009-01-19 09:22:28

Kevin: It depends what you are looking to achieve with your design. It probably won't have the same "pop" as a dark stone would. Color wise it seems to match fairly well. It's just that there is almost no contrast there.

Name: Kevin

Date: 2009-01-17 16:19:17

I have very light maple cabinets with hardwood floors (natural wood color) and stainless steel appliances. Do you think Juparana India Gold is enough contrast?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2008-12-10 16:12:47

Christine: It wouldn't look the same obviously but it would be similar in a sense. What I mean is that here, the stainless steel sort of blends in with the countertops a bit. If it was black it would be closer to the cabinets. I still believe though that stainless steel would match a little bit better.

Hello, I was wondering if black appliances would work with this cabinet and countertop combination?

I have cherry cabinets with mocha glaze. Should I do cashmere gold or new venetian gold counters?nters woo

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2008-01-30 09:35:00

Sharon: Yes, but there wouldn't be as much contrast. If a low contrast setting is what you're looking for, then I don't see any problems.

Would Juparana Bordeaux go with cabinets and an island similar to this? Kitchen in 25x14'9".

PITA: Dark will make the kitchen gloomy and heavy. Seek medium colors with dynamic patterns. You have plenty of countertop real estate to show them off!

A large u-shaped kitchen with 8 foot island in the middle and buffet at end. Done in double expresso ( not really black but very dark brown).Cream floors. Back splash will match floor . Two walk-out windows . Should i look at granite with many veins and movement or with consistency instead. Would dark colour be appropriate ?

Can you give the dimensions of the island? I have not seen an island like this. It is beautiful. I'm trying to see if it is too large for my kitchen. Thanks

I have maple cabinets in a washed finish so they are very light. The floors are white tiles. We are having a hard time deciding -have several samples. We narrowed it down to a couple. The color sample says #3217. Do you know if this is the same as the one pictured? (Juparana Gold)?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2007-11-09 09:17:53

Audra: I personally like the #38. The floor could be slate for example.. definitely not uniform.

THANK YOU! Bianco Romano it is. BUT I noticed that it is listed twice here #38 and #41? Which one were you refering to? Also- what about the floor?? I am doing tile but color suggestion? THANK YOU

THANK YOU! I keep going back to Bianco Romano and Luna Pearl so I guess I knew light was the answer. Do you think Bianco Romano over Luna Pearl?Thank you! One more question-please-what color ceramic floor tile do you think?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2007-11-07 09:03:06

Audra: Go white! Bianco Romano is a very very traditional looking stone. It looks like marble! Putting black on these cabinets would make the room way too heavy and gloomy.

help-I am completely overwhelmed. My cabinets are similar color/style to those pictured here,w/ black appliances. Problem is I can not for the life of me decide on floor tile and granite. Originally I was thinking of a light beigeeutral floor with black galaxy granite..but is that too dark? I was hoping for a more traditional look...HELP

I have medium - dark brown maple cabinets and Stainless Steel Appliances. I'm deciding between Noche or Durango travertine floors. What granite would look best; Golden Oak, Juparano Columbo, or Juparano Vyra. Or any other suggestions?

Margaret: The contrast will come from the pattern. It should be alright. Same goes for the Juparana.
