Mo: This looks to be around 14". That's also about the max you can do without any support. For 18" I would recommend some form of support... Corbels or brackets maybe.

Lisa: Depending on particular type of Kashmir Gold. I would be looking for darker lots jst bring a little bit of contrast to your kitchen. Going with pale Kashmir Gold may create a little dull image.

Giallo Ornamental is more pale and will probably stand out more from the cabinetry. That would be my choice. It also helps that it's less expensive!
