Patti: I would not suggest the travertine for kitchen countertop, it's very porous. Soapstone is a good option, take a look at Brazilian Soapstone. |

sorry I didn't give more info. I'd like the island to be granite and the perimeter another stone. We started with 'original soapstone' but now I'm considering a 'chocolate travertine' that is filled and polished. thanks for your help. have no idea for behind the stove (which is dark red!) thanks! |

We are having tan brown granite countertops installed in our kitchen. The cabinets are red oak and so is our hardwood floor. The walls are yellow and the trim is white. We have a lot of natural light. We are also installing undercabinet lighting. Our dilemma now is what to use for a backsplash. Any suggestions? Oh and our appliances are stainless. |

We're currently redoing the bathroom. The shower has chocolate brown tiles and the floor tile is a mixture of cream/beige/greish tones, the cabinets would also be dark brown. What color granite countertops would you recommend? Thanks. |

What would be a good granite and backsplash more for Chestnut glazed maple cabinets? I would like to stay with golds and neutrals. Also possible paint options other than white for the walls. I have a U shape kitchen 56 linear ft.

Bette: You're on the right track. The Golden Persa is a fine choice to offset the honey cabinets. Another option could be Crema Bordeaux while a calmer suggestion would be Tropical Brown. |
|

We are putting granite countertops on existing golden oak cabinets. The cabinets have a definite "orange undertone" and I am concerned that if I put a gold or orange counter on top it will accentuate this more, or blend in to the cabinetry. I would like to stay with the brown tones. What other color would you recommend? We are considering Juperana Persa but we don't know if the tones would class with the golden oak. This has a small amount of the golden color but predominent tones are darker browns and creams. |

milliebelle: For the floors I would consider terracotta tile. For backsplash a tumbled travertine will look very nice. And for wall color a neutral beige (example: Honeyed Almond) will tie-in everything together. |

We have cherry espresso shaker cabinets and santos mahagony wood floor - south facing with little natural light. We wanted to go lighter with the granite/backsplash but most of the white granites look grey (too cold), and most of the gold granites look golden (too muddy). We were considering colonial cream but having a hard time finding it - and online it sometimes looks very grey too. Considered mascarello or golden moon, but worried they're too busy for the space. Any suggestions? |

Would Tropic brown go with the golden oak cabinets? I may paint under the chair rail a warm red, maybe a brown red or tuscan red? My accent color will be green. The room will be warm neutrals, some shade of warm red and a darker green. I want to tie it together with a warm-toned granite that will not clash with the golden oak cabinets. The St. Cecilia color looked too washed out, not rich enough. Thank you! |

Usually from what I have seen, our costumers choose to go with a more matching stone. In your case that would be a light stone. |

gloria: Working with two different cabinets and two different granite colors is very tricky. While finding the right stone to match each cabinet is simple, they often fight for attention and just don't look good. I would suggest scaling down a bit and using just one color of stone. It will react differently with the two different cabinets, so you'll achieve a similar effect, but much easier. |

ann: It depends what you have as the current countertop. It might not be easy but it is somewhat doable. Some cabinetry work may be required (in other words, it might get expensive). |

I\'m trying to pick out a granite that goes with the current style of the kitchen will transition when I tire of the tuscan theme. Do you have any suggestions? |

Meteorus is the stone and i is predominately black, with gren/gray slivers and plum circles like cherries. It also has silver looking "brushes" throught. It is an exotic stone and I found in out in california. I can google it and pics also come up. My concern it is so exotic, it is unusual. Wonder if anyone else has used it? |
