Janet: The island can overhang up to 12 inches without additional work and that is plenty for someone to place a chair and sit down. New Venetian Gold in my opinion would look best with this combination, plenty of contrast and the burgundy speckling will compliment the cherry cabinets nicely.

I have cherry wood sienna colored cabinets w/ss appliances a light natural wood floor the kitchen area is 18'6" x 13'10" what color granite might you recommend (was thinking of new venetian gold, juparana golden vyara, yellow river & mascarello) Also what size island would work in this area? I need top of island to overhang so I can sit & do prep work.
