Caroline: I don't think it would look washed out, especially against the dark brown wood. Very nice color scheme. |

Brooke : Well, visually it would be interesting. From a practical standpoint, it would be a bit harder to keep clean. |

Venise: The red floor might not go well with green so literally anything else is a possibility. |

Hi, we have white cabinets on one wall (15') and a large 8' x 4' island with espresso (dark brown) cabinets, our floor is a medium brown hardwood. I'm trying to decide between Santa Cecilia and Giallo Ornamental (love the latter since there is no gold or orange, but wondering if it might look washed out?). any recommendations? thank you! |

We are doing a major remodel of our house including our kitchen. I love this certain granite that is in a suede finish. I am nervous though because it isn't shiny like my other granite. It is a large island and an L shaped perimeter. How do you feel about suede finish in a kitchen? Will it look too unfinished? |

We have just installed cherry kitchen cabinets with mission stain. Hard wood floors are red oak - what color of granite would you suggest? |

Amanda: A lighter, warm color will offset the cabinetry nicely. |
|

Manny: One one hand it might be too dark. On the other, it will be neutral and won't clash with the speckly stone. If you can live with that, it's good. |

We are remodeling - black appliances, cayenne (reddish) stained cabinetry, and are planning a red oak laminate floor -- suggestions for countertop color? |

Looking to put in new countertops. Have maple cabinets, oak floors, and black appliances. Average light. Will a speckly black granite work well? Seems like it would but one person thought it might be too much black with the appliances. It is an eat in kitchen with a stone top table that is a light speckly color with just a touch of black. |

Hi, we are redoing our kitchen which is small to medium in size. We ordered whit cabinents and stainless appliances. We are hoping to create a warm and "open" kitchen with a neutral style tile floor. What style countertops would you recommend? |

I have a small kitchen in a Moorish-style beach condo in Mexico with white walls, neutral floor tiles, and chocolate colored cabinetry with a lot of grain (the wood is called parota in Spanish.) I don't like speckly granite, would rather use more of a swirly type. Recommendations? |

Katy : Honestly, anything should work. This is a very neutral setting. Perhaps try to tie into the color of the glaze a bit? |

We are remodeling our kitchen and have chosen white cabinets with an espresso creme glaze and giallo santa cecilia granite for the counters. All the appliances will be stainless steel. Any reccommendations on tile for the floor and paint color for the wall? It's a small square kitchen so we tried to avoid anything too dark... |

Lindy: Try santa cecilia. Basically the same stone, but warmer. |

I have maple shaker cabinets in a cinnamon color for my new kitchen. The wood laminate floor has both lighter and corresponding colors. I originally chose Giallo Ornamental from a sample, but when I went to view the slab, it looked grey and washed out. Any suggestions on something which is light, but contains the cinnamon brown color? |

Can I do Giallo Ornamental with white cabinets? I have an island in the middle of my kitchen, wood floors but plan to stain them gunstock, white appliances. Large and open kitchen (granite = 90sq ft). Current kitchen walls are light green&hunter green blinds. If G.ornamental granite what color should I do the walls/backsplash? |

Ann: I would probably go with a color that has various shades of brown/gold. Perhaps some of the stones from the Giallo family. |

Karen: Firstly, try to do as much of the refinishing as possible, before the granite is in. That will reduce the chance of damaging the stone mechanically and/or chemically. As far as your color scheme goes, I think you might want to look at Blue Pearl. It has both silver and black to match the appliances, and it will contrast beautifully with the beige. |

mary: If you follow the more practical approach, then a light ceramic tile floor is in order, along with a spotty granite like this one. |

Jane: Well for a kitchen floor, it's usually more convenient to go with tile. But as far as the color goes, I think a darker color would really provide a good base for both the cabinets and the stone. |

My cabinets are white. I am interested in the giallo ornamental (the one that has more brown and black flecks running thru it with no yellow). I plan to use a tile backsplash of natural colors that compliment the countertop. What color floor should I use? I can either go hardwood or tile. |

JOAN: Go as dark as you can afford to without making the kitchen gloomy. It will contrast with the tops and make them pop. |

We are re-finishing our solid maple cabinets and we can stain them any way we want. Our kitchen is well-lit (both natural and other), but we still do not want to go too dark with anything. We really like the giallo ornamental. What tones should we aim for in the wood stain to best compliment this granite? Floors will probably be a light oak. |

Try something darker, it will even out the various wood colors. Something brown going into reddish tones maybe? Dakota Mahogany perhaps? |

|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2007-06-04 09:01:01 |
You're not going to find much Rhonda. Giallo Ornamental is really one of the more "pale" speckled stones. Look at the slabs in person and see if that's the right thing for you. They do vary so you might just find one that has no gold at all. |

Have open kitchen/family rm, peninsula divider. natural oak flrs, maple shaker cabinets w/ nutmeg stain (med orangy/red brown) & 3x3 ebony island. Except for peninsula, there are no long ctr expanses. want comfortable pretty space & cabinet color looks more formal than expected + hard to find granite that goes well wutmeg & ebony . Any ideas? |
|
Name: Rhonda | Date: 2007-05-25 20:30:23 |
The cabinets along the perimeter of my kitchen will be cream with a light glaze and the island will be a relative dark brown(expresso or cappuccino). I'm looking for a speckled granite similar to giallo ornamental(with creams and browns) but with less gold. Can you recommend one? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2007-05-15 16:07:55 |
That will make for one very open and airy kitchen. If that's what you're going for then Santa Cecilia will work. If you want to tighten the elements, choose something darker like Giallo Vincenza. It has more brown and rust in it too. |

I have a very open kitchen with an L shaped island into the family room. Kitchen has white cabinets, both rooms have oak floors (with a cognac finish) and cream walls. I am considering Santa Cecilia slabs that have alot of rust color to match the floors. Is this a good choice? |

Lol...I suppose it does sound that way! I might add the brick wall isn't painted red, just natural brick color. The green cabinets bring out the brick and I guess I do like color! Thanks so much for confiming my thinking on the Santa Cecilia -- much appreciated! :) |

That's a lot of different colors there Judith. Santa Cecilia is a good choice. Try to stay neutral with the color of granite. |
