Pat: Find a balance. If Tan Brown is too dark, i'd say something like Milky White is too light. Giallo Ornamental or Tahoe would be excellent choices. |

I just had my oak cabinets restained medium dark & installed Marazzi Vesale Stone porcelian tile 20 X 20 in the rust color for the floors. Walls painted beige with tea stain & am totally lost as to the color of granite. I am afraid the tan brown sample I have would be to dark although I have 2 windows in that kitchen and breakfast area. Would something like Giallo Santo, G ornamental or Milky White be the way to go? Please help, will be granite shopping AGAIN this weekend. |

I took a look at your suggestions and I like them all. I forgot to mention that I currently have white appliances and my ceramic tile floor is like a blush peachy color whith shades of white. I am especially fond of the butterfly antique, eventhough, I was orginally looking for a lighter color, like your other suggestion, Tropical Brown. Do you think that the Butterfly family is too much of a contrast with the white appliances? |

Mary: That's a bit of a stark combination, for light options perhaps something like Juparana Classico or Silky Yellow will fit better. |

Thanks for your suggestions I will take a look at those. Would you consider the Milky white with the color Cider as well? |

Mary: I see, i'd consider Tropical Brown, or a stone in the Butterfly family (Butterfly Antique or Butterfly Jade). |

The cabinet maker calls the color cider, it is a maple wood, some call it ginger. |

Mary: The only issue with black is it shows smudges, so it you don't like that you will have to wipe it down often. What color are your cabinets? |

I am looking at the lighter colors. I was orginally looking at black, but I have been hearing that it needs a little more attention to keep it looking clean |

Different granites have different densities, and so the problem of chipping will vary depending on the stone itself. If you are worried about chipping, choose an edge that has smoother cuts, like a Flat Ogee. |

What does that exactly mean? I am thinking of getting a Granite called Lady Dream. I believe it is from India. Do you know anything about this stone. |

The chipping depends more on the stone itself. |

Would you recommend as ogee edge? Friends have this edge and claimed they got chips in the sharp edge. Is this possible and can you recommend something similar that I wouldn't have to worry about. |

Not sure what the difference is as I have never seen lirio. If it is a Juparana, then it can't be too far off from this. |

No, although that is a similar color. |
