Can you use this Durango stone (I think limestone) for a kitchen countertop?

Sue: It's not granite. Limestone actually. The edge is a laminated one with Ogee on top and bullnose on the bottom.

What color and finish is the granite and what edge profile? I have maple antique white cabinets with espresso glaze around the perimeter and Maple cinnebar(red) center island. Would like to do some kind of black granite for perimeter and light Antique white for island possibly honed what do you recommend? The floors are oak in provincial.
