I have white wash cabinets and a light colored laminate floor. I like the Juperana Namibia and my husband likes the Tan Brown. He thinks that my choice might look too washed out. We plan to paint the walls a rose merlot color. Do you think the Juperana Namibia would make it look washed out?

Joann: You can go for plenty of contrast with something like Butterfly if you have good natural light and a spacious area, or you can opt for something like this Bordeaux, it's a very warm and exciting stone.

Lori: There are quite a few stones that could go into your design. There is one I have in mind though, that stands apart. It's called Blue Eyes. You can find it in our Stone Gallery (ID#48). I think it would be a playful way of matching the blue.

I have natural hickory wood floors, oak cabinets, mostly black appliances buy my stove has some stainless accents. The ajoining breakfast room has cornflower blue and cream striped wallpaper below the chair rail and floral above. The floral is a cream background with blue, cranberry, green and gold. What granite countertops would you recommend? I would like to use some type of tile backsplash with some glass tiles as accents. Do you have any suggestions?

Joan D: Sounds like a fairly medium tone of wood. In that case I would suggest going either much lighter or much darker than the color of the cabinetry. Dark browns or light golds I would say.

I think that for those colored cabinets, using bordeaux was too light. Using something like creama bordeaux dark that has a good mixture of the green and burgundy would have it stand out more.

patrick: I think that depends how dark you want to go with the stone. If your kitchen is big, open and bright you don't have to worry, but too many dark elements in the kitchen may make it look smaller than it is.

This color will look good. The lighter you will go, the less of a contrast you will have between the cabinetry and the countertops, and contrast is good :)
