Whatever the color of the cabinets, there are two ways of doing it. Either get contrast by selecting a darker color, or like in this picture use a similar hue light color with really dramatic pattern. Either option will work, it's just a matter of what effect you want to achieve.

What is the advantage or disadvantage of having light verses dark granite counter tops? I have a blue and white kitchen and white cabinets with an old white porceline sink (large, great shape) and don't know if light granite or dark would be best??
