How practical is travertine for a kitchen floor?

Every time I see a floor that I love, it turns out to be travertine. I would love this flooring in my kitchen but am worried that it is not practical and will stain. I have not found a ceramic or porcelin tile that compares.

    josmyth,

There are MANY travertine "imitations" in porcelain or ceramic floor tile material out there. Just look at our tiles section for starters, choices such as "Shell" have the look of travertine but are actually porcelain tile. A company such as The Tile Shop has a vast section of ceramic and porcelain tiles that look just like natural stone. I hope this opens up new horizons and helps you in your search!
