Need Countertop and Backsplash ideas

We are remodeling our kitchen by replacing our center island, countertops and cabinet hardware. Our perimeter cabinets are slightly off-white, the island will be a dark chocolate stain and new hardware we are considering brushed nickel. The wood floors are medium oak color. Our appliances are stainless.

Do you have suggestions on what granite to choose that would look good with both the white and dark-stained cabinets? We have considered both Portofino Gold as well as Santa Cecilia - both very opposites. Also, for backsplash we are leaning toward a natural stone or subway tile. Any recommendations on what could look best for the granite/backsplash combo?

I recommend a lighter and warm color that is a timeless choice such as Giallo Napoleone or Santa Cecilia Real. These choices would complement the perimeter wood while creating a striking contrast on the island. In regard to the backsplash, a shade such as Ivory travertine in a honed finish with a random strip mosaic pattern or a Noce travertine in a tumbled finish with a Versailles pattern would be appropriate.
