Seems like you have a very open design plan with the light cabinets. Are there any colors that have caught your attention so far? Are you leaning toward a light or dark countertop color? Do you enjoy veins and movement or a more consistent, speckled pattern on the stone?

hi,what is the best granit color for my Antique White kitchen

  • Marble.com - Derek 04:46PM, Feb 18 2012 Hello there. For an estimate on the Altair, you must contact our sales office with the measurements you require for the project: www.marble.com/contact
  • Pat griffin 10:06PM, Feb 15 2012 need price per square foot
  • Levitins 10:50PM, Feb 5 2012 I am considering using this material for a table.  Table top 82" x 42".  Do you have a showroom where I could see what this granite looks like?  Photos are a great indication but I would not decide on a photo only.
  • Suzanne 09:34PM, Feb 4 2012 Do you cut the slabs into tiles?  I am looking for tiles (preferrably 24x24).  The Altair is exactly what I had been looking for, and it is nearly impossible to find granite in the vein design.
  • Marble.com - Derek 06:28PM, Jan 20 2012 May I ask, where are you located?
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:56PM, Jan 18 2012 Unfortunately, we do not sell slabs as we are a fabricator. If you are within our service area, we’ll be more than happy to template, fabricate and install this stunning stone. Call a location near you today http://www.marble.com/contact
  • Ecastell 03:56PM, Jan 18 2012 Derek,
I am interested in the Altair granite.  We have 55 sf of countertop, and we have our own fabricator.  Do you sell slabs to other fabricators?~ Ellen
  • Marble.com - Derek 03:11PM, Jan 16 2012 If you're having trouble creating an Estimate using our Instant Tool, you can send over the measurements you require to sales@marble.com along with your installation zipcode and contact information. Our Estimating Department will then create a quote for you and send it over to you. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  • sabour 09:04PM, Jan 13 2012 I am also interested in your Altair slabs. I went on line to put my measurements for price estimates and somehow i was not  able to follow the formats. I need a big slab of approx. 10ft. by 5.5 ft. for my island and then I need some other complementary of if I can afford Altair for the cabinets around the kitchen. Could you give me a price range/sq.ft. of Altair. I live in NY and I could come to NJ tomorrow.
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:47PM, Jan 13 2012 We have plenty of Altair available at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location. Just to clarify, we do not sell the full slabs, we fabricate and install stone countertops.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:15PM, Jan 13 2012 Which facility will you be purchasing your project from?
  • Geaux 08:35PM, Jan 12 2012 Do you have 3 slabs available?
  • Marble.com - Derek 03:11PM, Jan 10 2012 For an estimate, please email (sales@marble.com) or fax: 201-440-6855 a drawing of your project with measurements and shape. Include your contact information, installation zipcode, and note that you're interested in Altair.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 06:36PM, Jan 6 2012 The Ridgefield Park, NJ has the largest quantity of this stone so if you have time, please go directly to that yard for viewing. I would recommend sending your layout and measurements, if you haven’t done so ready, for pricing. Please note this is a Super Premium stone; therefore, it requires a separate estimate.
  • Chris 05:55PM, Jan 6 2012 Which location would you recommend for the largest inventory of this stone?
  • Chris 05:49PM, Jan 6 2012 I haven't.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:11PM, Jan 6 2012 Unfortunately, the South Plainfield, NJ facility does not carry this stone. However, our Ridgefield Park, NJ, Stroudsburg, PA and Danbury, CT locations have it in stock. Have you received an estimate for this stone yet?
  • Chris 03:59PM, Jan 6 2012 Hello, I'm going to the South Plainfield store this Saturday.  Is Altair in stock at that location?
  • Marble.com - Kinga 09:07PM, Dec 20 2011 Yes! Come on in. At this moment, we have 2 and a half slabs left. Make sure to bring your layout and measurements so we can provide you with an estimate.

  • Merkulov Alex 04:13PM, Oct 25 2011 What is the price per sqft for Altair?
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:43PM, Oct 25 2011 Absolutely! This is a durable granite that can be used as a bar top, even a kitchen countertop!
  • Grizzly 05:30PM, Oct 23 2011 I am looking for use as a bartop. Which product would hold up to bar dice?
  • Marble.com - Derek 07:09PM, Oct 12 2011 Altair is one of our most beautiful stones and nothing can make it look bad -- stainless steel appliances is a class and timeless choice that is rather neutral and does not clash with the color tones in granite.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 07:07PM, Oct 12 2011 Absolutely not! I’ve seen the Altair done many times and each project had the always popular stainless steel appliances. You do not have to match appliances to your countertop. Appliances are their own element in the kitchen that do not and usually are not incorporated into the design color scheme. You should always compliment and take into consideration your cabinets, floor, backsplash and paint while picking your granite.
  • Amanda 07:02PM, Oct 12 2011 Would the Altair look strange with stainless steel appliances and apron sink? Do the gold tones in the granite clash with the silver tones in the appliances/sinks?
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:01PM, Oct 7 2011 Send over a drawing of the bar shape along with the actual measurements of the project to our sales office and our estimators will draft a quote for you.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:03PM, Oct 7 2011 If you are having trouble using our online estimating tool, you may e-mail or fax the layout and measurements to a sales office near you http://www.marble.com/contact . Make sure to include your phone number in case our salesmen have any questions regarding your layout and the zip code of the job site.
  • K Sayler 12:29AM, Oct 7 2011 I have a bar shape different from the templets on this web site. Please advise
  • Marble.com - Derek 02:00PM, Aug 10 2011 I'm not familiar with that stone, different companies give colors their own name, so it might of been called something else with us. Have you looked through our materials page? www.marble.com/materials
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:29PM, Aug 9 2011 Have you considered the Astoria granite?
  • Irishroses 07:06PM, Aug 8 2011 I believe you are correct that the altair is too dark. The original granite that we found, we can no longer find. It was absolutely beautiful, creamy background like your Crema Marfil with veins of gold, burgundry and black running through it. I think it was called Belle Solle, it was supposed to be Italian, but I cant find it any more and havent seen anything else like it that would go well in our kitchen that was light colored.
  • Marble.com - Derek 02:09PM, Aug 8 2011 For the backsplash, I recommend a tumbled marble tile, such as the Botticino or Crema Marfil variety. I've attached images of these choices for your reference. You can also insert a beautiful design mural behind the stove, I've attached an idea that I personally enjoy very much. As for the granite countertop piece, the Altair may be a bit too dark. However if you focus on the rich golden veins of the stone and really show them off in the design, then it can look absolutely stunning. I recommend to look at the slabs in-person and bring your cabinet door with you to put it against the slab. A choice that is a tad lighter and may work better is Kosmus. Good luck!
  • Jwilke19 07:33PM, Aug 5 2011 Thank you both so much.  I will let you know!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 07:22PM, Aug 5 2011 It is our pleasure! Let us know how your visit goes!
  • Irishroses 05:37PM, Aug 5 2011 We are at the tail end of remodeling our kitchen and need help with the countertop and the backsplash. Our cabinets are cabernet with black glaze, our island is glossy black paint with the drawers and doors cabernet stain w/ black glaze. We have all black appliances. We are waiting to install a black chimeny style range hood until we get the backsplash put in first. Our walls are a light sage green, with traditional style wallpaper that includes colors of rust, gold, cream, lavender. The ceiling is gold faux with brushed pearl. We have custom lighting by kenroy and it has like a gold pearlessence look with silver veins running throughout. The floor is a light cherry.  We are looking to create somewhat of a Tuscany feel in the kitchen. I know we want a light tile in the kitchen to help brighten it a bit, maybe even a design or a accent piece to go over the stove. I initially wanted a light colored granite (more creamy background) with some gold, burgundy and some black. However, I did see the Altair and that REALLY rocks...!! I dont know if that would make the kitchen too dark or what? Right now we have the light cherry laminate flooring, but intend to put light ceramic tile in later. We also have various types of metal colors throughout the house. Fixtures are all bronze. Current countertop are a sage green speckled laminate w/ a black sink. I am trying to pick both the countertop and tile now, but want to install the granite countertop at a later date. So I need a tile that will go with what we have now, and then be ready for the new countertop in the future. We just cant afford to both at the same time right now. Would be happy to post pictures. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated as we are totally spinning our wheels here. Thanks KL
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:35PM, Aug 5 2011 You're welcome. I'm happy for you guys on the agreeable compromise. I'm sure your remodel will end up looking very beautiful.
  • Jwilke19 03:22PM, Aug 5 2011 Okay, hubby finally had time to sit down and look at the granite selections!  He likes the idea of the lighter granite on the perimeter to blend with Altair on the island. However, I prefer one and he leans toward another. So we'll have to see them in person to make a selection. Thanks, again, Guys!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:07PM, Aug 4 2011 Absolutely! Going to a granite yard is not only overwhelming, it may be stressful as well if you have too many choices and you aren’t sure which one works best. Let us know what you end up choosing!
  • Jwilke19 04:02AM, Aug 4 2011 Thanks, Derek.  Hopefully, tomorrow night will be the night!  Kinga, yes, we definitely will have to see our choices in person to pick specific slabs.  I'm just so happy that you all have helped me narrow down my choices to see in person! Going to a granite yard is just overwhelming!
  • Marble.com - Derek 09:33PM, Aug 3 2011 I know it can be hard to get a male to sit down and make design choices, but it can be done! :) Patience is the key. Good luck with everything Jwilke19!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 08:21PM, Aug 3 2011 It’s important for you and your husband to agree on color choices but the best way to narrow down your stone selections is to actually see them in person. Remember, granite is a natural stone that will vary between shipments so if you do not see it in person, you will miss out on all the beauty the stone has to offer.
  • Jwilke19 08:07PM, Aug 3 2011 Yes, it is a decision for life or at least for a very long time!
I'll check out Derek's suggestions of the other colors. Hubby and I didn't get to talk about it much last night as he worked late and will do so tonight so guess it'll be tomorrow night before I have his full attention!  I want him to sit at the computer with me and focus on the selections!
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:39PM, Aug 3 2011 We are glad to help. We know these decisions are difficult and stressful. Once the new stone contertop installed, it can be said that it's done "for life" because it's so durable. Therefore we want you to make a decision that you will be fully happy with! Let us know how the meeting with your hubby goes!
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:27PM, Aug 3 2011 Golden tones in the perimeter space will pick-up the rich and deep veins of the Altair. Kinga's suggestions are on-point as well as my previous suggestion of Santa Cecilia. In addition, check out Kashmir Gold and New Venetian Gold. Before you make any final decisions, it is crucial that you look at the slabs in-person and bring samples home with you to see the stones next to your cabinet under your kitchen lightning effects.
  • Jwilke19 07:29PM, Aug 2 2011 You're welcome!  I'll be sure to let you know!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 07:22PM, Aug 2 2011 Thank you for your kind compliments. We strive to offer excellent customer service and great experience to those who visit our site for inspiration to design their own unique spaces. The veins of the Ambrosia Gold resemble the beautiful flow of the Altair so I feel it’s a great combination. Let me know what you end up choosing!
  • Jwilke19 06:43PM, Aug 2 2011 Thank you for putting the selections side by side. That really helps and just what I needed to help me visualize what they will look like.  I think I lean more toward the Ambrosia Gold too as it's not quite so gold and it's lighter to go with the darker cabinets. This is great! I finally feel that's it's all coming together and I am not so over-whelmed by it all. Thank you all so, so much. Your website is awesome with all the selections and cabinet tool, and especially the personal help from you all.  I'll go over all this with my husband tonight.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:11PM, Aug 2 2011 I feel you need a stone with golden tones to compliment the Altair like the Sunflower, Imperial God, and my favorite for your design, the Ambrosia Gold. Click this link to see all my suggestions side by side and let me know what you think!
    http://www.marble.com/material...
  • Jwilke19 03:47PM, Aug 2 2011 Yes!  I feel good about both your comments. I think your suggestion will work and satisfy both my wanting a classic kitchen and my husband wanting a "wow" factor on the island. He loves movement and "wood" cabinets!  So, we will do one of the darker cabinets you've suggested. Both are beautiful.  And Altair on the island with a lighter granite on the perimeter. Will any of the lighter ones you've suggested previously work and not clash with Altair?
    Thank you, thank you!
  • Marble.com - Derek 03:26PM, Aug 2 2011 I'm all for following Kinga's advice. You should keep the wood uniform and an elegant dark stain such as the espresso or chocolate brown color. Altair on the island to make the stone a centerpiece of your design, with a lighter granite on the perimeter.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:02PM, Aug 2 2011 I feel it may be a bit much. However, I think it would look stunning if you kept the dark cabinets on the perimeter and the island because a unique stone like the Altair will stand out even against a dark base. I’ve seen Altair done with chocolate brown and jet black cabinets and it looks jaw-dropping! If you do a light perimeter stone and Altair on the island keeping the wood consistent throughout, you will definitely achieve a magazine-style kitchen. Since your husband likes the look of wood, consider doing walnut oak or dark cherry cabinets with espresso glaze. Let me know what you think!
  • Stoneadvisor 02:19AM, Aug 2 2011 No probelm with me. I just thought that you might want to know about the correction and actually have someone look into it.
  • Jwilke19 12:16AM, Aug 2 2011 Thank you both for your comments.  You've definitely given me food for thought. I think my husband would go for the oak or maple with the chocolate glaze since they are "wood" in his eyes. He just doesn't wanted painted cabinets even though I think they are beautiful.  I'll check out the lighter suggestions Derek suggested if we stick with the dark cabinets.  I've had another thought today. How would it be to have darker cabinets and lighter granite on the perimeter and the maple with chocolate glaze cabinets with the altair on the island?  Is that too busy or too "much" going on?
  • Marble.com - Derek 09:26PM, Aug 1 2011 I'll add my opinion on this set-up. If very dark cabinet wood is used, the Altair can stay on the island, but for the perimeter a lighter and warmer color is a must for contrast. My perimeter recommendations are Astoria, Santa Cecilia Light, Giallo Ornamental C.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 08:35PM, Aug 1 2011 Natural oak or maple cabinets with a chocolate glaze would be a great option for your space if you still want to use the Absolute Black on the perimeter and Altair on the island. White or black cabinets are always in style so if you want to keep the space timeless, consider either one with a contrasting granite.
  • Jwilke19 06:33PM, Aug 1 2011 Thank you for your reply. Yes, the look I want is the timeless and classic look. I'll check out the color of cabinet you suggested and also the lighter color granites. I know my husband likes the "brown" wood colors for cabinets, but maybe I can persuade him on the lighter cabinets!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 02:38PM, Aug 1 2011 If you go for a dark cabinet, you should use a much lighter stone than Absolute Black. It will definitely be too dark especially if you have limited sunlight. I think you should consider doing lighter on your cabinets like an off white with a chocolate glaze and pair it with the Absolute Black on the perimeter and Altair on the island. This look is very timeless, classic and elegant. If you’re set on darker cabinets, the perimeter should be light like Kashmir Gold or Madura Gold paired with the Altair for the island.
  • Jwilke19 09:15PM, Jul 31 2011 Also our applicances are stainless and black. There is a medium brown (walnut) wood floor in the family room that will butt up against the kitchen tile.
  • Jwilke19 06:17PM, Jul 30 2011 We are in the middle of a kitchen and master bath remodel. We are thinking we would like something like Altair for the 5 X 6 island and then a more solid color for the perimeter of the kitchen. Although the cabinet color is not definite, I am thinking of a brownish-blackish color. If we put something like Absolute Black or any black on the perimeter, will this be too dark? The floor will be some kind of tile in a lighter color as well as the backsplash. The kitchen is fairly large, but has no window. There are windows in the breakfast area though and we've added a solar tube. I'm so confused as what granite and cabinet colors to go with it. I want something classic, traditional, elegant. Any help will be appreciated.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 11:59AM, Jul 30 2011 The information that is provided on the website is the information we have. Therefore, as it’s listed, this stone is from Africa.
  • Stoneadvisor 01:09AM, Jul 30 2011 nice looking material but this is from Brazil and not from Africa.
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:36PM, Jul 22 2011 The Altair's deep and rich golden veining with rustic undertones will really shine against your particular cabinet color. The darker background of this stone will provide a sleek contrast.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 09:36PM, Jul 21 2011 This stone would work great with your cabinets! As long as you keep the backsplash light, your kitchen would look stunning.
  • San 02:29PM, Jul 21 2011 Hi,
We recently replaced our kitchen cabinets, they are Hampton Bay->maple-?lewiston->toffee finish. We like this stone, would you recommend it for that finish?

    Thanks,
    San

  • kfk83gt 02:29AM, Jun 24 2011 To renovate the lab in my dental office and operatory counters, would you be able to install this in the Utica, NY area?  Would be dazzling, to say the least.
  • Fuffyy 06:42PM, Jun 15 2011 Great! Thank you.
  • Marble.com - Derek 02:58PM, Jun 15 2011 Of course! We have Altair in-stock at our Ridgefield Park, NJ and Danbury, CT locations. You can pick the exact slab you want to use for your countertop and how you want the countertop to be cut on the slab.
  • Fuffyy 02:35PM, Jun 15 2011 Is it possible to visit and pick the slab myself? Since it's a natural material there must be variations.
  • LtCol Frank Scott 04:57PM, May 11 2011 We really like this look in granite, What is the cost per sq. ft.
    • All Granite and Marble 01:28PM, May 12 2011 LtCol Frank Scott: For an estimate on the Altair, please contact our sales office.
  • SEA - J 05:30PM, Apr 14 2011 I've already decided months ago that this is the granite I'd like to use in my kitchen however I'm not sure if it's available anywhere here more local in California and have been trying to get an idea of costs for a slab.....or two.....
    • All Granite and Marble 09:14AM, Apr 15 2011 SEA - J: We have Altair in-stock at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location but we do not ship slabs to CA, we are a countertop fabricator, sorry.
  • Leanne 10:44PM, Mar 13 2011 Just wondering if you could send me more pictures of slabs and the granite applied in an actual room....
    • All Granite and Marble 08:36AM, Mar 14 2011 Leanne: Unfortunately we do not have pictures of a installed Altair countertop at this time. These images on our website are a very accurate representation of how our Altair slabs look like, but if you'd like us to send you more pictures please contact our Ridgefield Park, NJ or South Plainfield, NJ sales office.
  • stef 09:43PM, Mar 12 2011 I'm undecided if I should redo my fireplace with this stone or design a dinning room table. Which one do you thing will bring out the fabulous design. Thanks.
    • All Granite and Marble 02:25PM, Mar 14 2011 Stef: Dining room table for sure. The rich golden veining will be captured beautifully by a tabletop.
  • denise 07:37PM, Feb 15 2011 Is this granite readily available or difficult to get?
    • All Granite and Marble 12:03PM, Feb 16 2011 Denise: It's an exotic stone. We have Altair in-stock at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location.
  • Nadine 04:07PM, Feb 11 2011 How would this look for a bathroom vanity top w/ white undermount sink. We have Cafe Rainforest Brown marble floor (12 x 12) w/travertine tumbled sandlewood walls (8 x 8)
    • All Granite and Marble 10:57AM, Feb 14 2011 Nadine: The Altair is a stunning granite with rich golden veining. But it might be hard to appreciate the beauty of the stone because a vanitytop is not usually very large to show the veins of this stone. And the Rainforest Brown tile I would say is a busy pattern, the Altair might add to the busy feel and make the space a little overwhelming. If you do not feel it's too busy, then you should go for it as it's a beautiful stone.
  • Ted Daniels 08:38AM, Feb 7 2011 I know that granite and marble can stain with oil, so is there a sealer coat that is applied to the surface?
    • All Granite and Marble 12:16PM, Feb 7 2011 Ted Daniels: Absolutely. Natural stone must be sealed to be stain resistant. We seal the stone upon installation and it is the responsibility of the homeowner to reseal the stone once a year, but it's a very easy do-it-yourself process. Our recommended sealer can be bought at www.MRSTONE.com
