  I live on the west coast. Washington State. We have light cabinets. "Golden Oak". I'm thinking that this would be beautiful in our kitchen. Do you have this on the west coast?

The darkness would be amplified if you have a small space or not a lot of natural light in the kitchen. For some lighter choices, I recommend to take a look at Golden Dream S, Jacaranda Wood, and Lapidus Classic. Good luck!
