I would recommend something that picks up colors of the cabinets and floor tile and gives them a nice complimentary look.

  • Peter 05:32PM, Aug 29 2013

Ramya, did you find Durano Gold or Nambi Gold on our website?

  • Pm 12:33PM, Aug 27 2013

I have dark brown kitchen cabinets, light biege ceramic floor titles and verde butterfly granite countertops. What color/kind of backsplash should i have put in?

  • Ramya 10:01PM, Aug 26 2013

W ehave a smaller kitchen with light maple cabinets and a black Island. We are planning to go with Butterfly Green for the countertops.
I would like to use the island as a centerpiece and so was considering putting Durano Gold or Nambi gold on the island.
Is that too much of contrast & too many colors in the kitchen (maple with green , black with some light color). thanks for your recommendations!!

  • Marble.com - Derek 02:20PM, Jan 9 2013

Hi Ann. You're on the right track and your idea is absolutely possible. For the perimeter counters, I think you should contrast the darker Butterfly island with a warm granite that will complement the oak wood. I have in-mind selections such as Santa Cecilia Classic, Portofino Classico, or Ouro Brasil.

  • ann 10:59PM, Jan 3 2013

I have medium oak cabinets and a slightly lighter medium oak wood floor.  My island has verde butterfly on it, and it is stunning with the oak.  I would like to find a granite that would coordinate with the butterfly on the other kitchen counters, and leave the butterfly island as an accent piece.the kitchen.  Any suggestions for granite that would coordinate, or is that just a silly idea?

  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:12PM, Nov 28 2011 If you have photos, we would love to see!
  • Marble.com - Derek 07:40PM, Nov 23 2011 Sounds good! Please let us know what you've chosen as we would love to know :)
  • Michele Kramer 03:18PM, Nov 21 2011 Thank you for your responses. I do like the suggestions. Our cabinets are coming in a couple weeks. We will take a door to the Tannersville store and check them out in person to make our final decision.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 02:10PM, Nov 21 2011 I agree with Derek, the Butterfly is a fantastic option for your space. Also check out Ubatuba, Green Gold and San Francisco Green. Let me know what you think!
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:55PM, Nov 18 2011 The Butterfly granite is a wonderful choice for your set-up. Some other options that compliment the fieldstone in your design nicely are Pocono Green, Tropical Brown, and Tan Brown. Let me know what you think.
  • Michele Kramer 04:14PM, Nov 16 2011 We are building a log home with kraftmaid toffee rustic birch cabinets. There will be a corner oven/microwave that will be faced with fieldstone. The island will also be faced with fieldstone. We are going to use some variation of slate tile flooring. I like this granite, however wondering if you have any suggestions.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 09:45PM, Oct 20 2011 Noce travertine in a diamond pattern would also work very well in your space and add visual interest to the backsplash. Consider adding some decorative glass accent tiles to finish off the look. Let us know what you think!
  • Marble.com - Derek 08:24PM, Oct 20 2011 For the floor tile, my suggestions are to take a look at Daltile Dal-Gres line "Beige" and Fidenza line "Bianco". As for backsplash, a 2" x 2" Walnut Fontane tumbled mosaic would compliment your design nicely. I've attached an image for your reference. Let me know what you think.
  • Sue 03:51PM, Oct 20 2011 Hi, I am presently renovating my kitchen. I have medium oak cupboards. I have painted walls with BM Copley Gray. My new counter is Verde Butterfly. Don't know what color to choose for floor tile or backsplash. Help!
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:14PM, Sep 27 2011 The Butterfly granite looks warmer against a cherry or golden colored cabinet. However, I feel that the combination you're considering is also acceptable. I recommend to take a cabinet door sample and put it against a slab of this stone and see how you enjoy the harmony of these two elements.
  • Rick 05:54AM, Sep 24 2011 Hello, I am buying a new townhouse and my wife and I must choose the colors we are going to use for the floor, cabinets and countertops. So far we have chosen light maple wood flooring and dark java brown cabinets. We really like the verde butterfly countertop, however I am worried it might not work with the java brown cabinets. I cannot find any examples online of verde butterfly on dark cabinets that do not have cherry coloring. Is there a reason for this? Could they work together?
  • Marble.com - Derek 08:20PM, Sep 14 2011 Are you looking for island cabinet color suggestion? If so, I think it should be darker. A red mahogany cabinet color would retain the traditional, warm log home feel. As for granite options, my suggestions are Butterfly, Tan Brown, and Tropical Brown. The backsplash should be a tumbled natural stone. For example, 2" x 4" Jerusalem Gold beveled marble would be ideal. I've attached an image for your reference. Good luck!
  • GP 08:00PM, Sep 13 2011 I am remodeling my kitchen but can only replace some of the cabinets.  The perimeter cabinets will remain medium oak and the island plus part of top cabinets will be changed out.  I have a log home and have put down green ceramic tiles on the floor.  What do you suggest for island color and granite countertop along with backsplash?
  • Marble.com - Derek 07:45PM, Sep 13 2011 I'm confident everything will come along nicely, the wall color option is a very warm choice.
  • Marble.com - Derek 07:40PM, Sep 13 2011 Interesting. How are you coming along, Pamela?
  • Pforzolek 01:45AM, Sep 10 2011 Thanks for the suggestions.  We ended up picking BM Powell Buff.  Hopefully it will look nice with the cabinets which we haven't installed yet....
  • Pforzolek 01:43AM, Sep 10 2011 Still working on the project...
  • Marble.com - Derek 06:16PM, Sep 8 2011 Take a look at Tropical Brown, Tan Brown, and Butterfly Antique. Let me know what you think!
  • GP 10:51AM, Sep 8 2011 I am replacing my bathroom cabinets with painted white cabinets with brown glaze.  Very traditional.  What color granite do I use for the counters?
  • Marble.com - Kinga 09:07PM, Jul 14 2011 Do you have any photos of the finished project? We would love to see!
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:39PM, Jul 8 2011 Hi Pamela. I'm glad you've successfully picked the New Venetian Gold, it's a solid and warm choice. As for wall color, take a look at Benjamin Moore "Muslin" and "Malton".
  • Pamela 02:44AM, Jul 6 2011 We ended up choosing New Venetian Gold for our new kitchen.  Now we are having lots of trouble picking a paint color to match that will also make the creamy cabinets with light brown glaze "pop".  Any suggestions?
  • RoKing 01:03PM, Apr 4 2011 I have looked at the Tropical Brown and really like it. i was thinking I could put that on the antique white cabinets and wanted contrast for the dark brown island. What do you suggest? and also for back splash? Thank you!
    • All Granite and Marble 07:51AM, Apr 5 2011 RoKing: For the island, something like Astoria, Giallo Ornamental C, or Kashmir Gold would be appropriate. For backsplash, I recommend a tumbled Mocha travertine tile.
  • patc 08:56AM, Apr 2 2011 We have a green marble floor & oak cabinets & 80 sq ft of counters (including center island) The kitcen is open to family rtoom with natural oak floors Any suggestions for countertop (kitchen does not have great natural light but the family rroom does)x9+
    • All Granite and Marble 01:10PM, Apr 2 2011 Patc: Any colors you've looked at so far? My suggestions are Costa Esmeralda, Crema Bordeaux, and Golden Jade.
  • RoKing 09:06PM, Apr 1 2011 My husband and I are currently building a new house. We are having difficulty deciding on granite and backsplash. Our main cabinets will be antique white and the large island is dark brown. We are putting stone on the exterior, Huron Dry Stack, and plan on using it on our hood range, and the fireplace in living room. What granite and backsplash do you suggest?
    • All Granite and Marble 12:08PM, Apr 4 2011 RoKing: Any colors you've looked at so far that caught your attention? I recommend Tropical Brown, Tan Brown, Butterfly Antique, Baltic Brown.
  • Nina 09:02PM, Apr 1 2011 love giallo ornamental
  • Pamela 05:06PM, Mar 6 2011 Funny, we just looked at Giallo Ornamental which sounds similar to what you suggested. Thanks! Will check them out!
    • All Granite and Marble 10:31AM, Mar 7 2011 Pamela: Yes, Giallo Ornamental would look wonderful and is very similar to my original suggestions.
  • Pamela 09:43PM, Mar 4 2011 We're building a new kitchen with cream cabinets (Country French look with glaze) and a dark brown island. Any recommendations for a granite countertop that would match both the cabinets and the island?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:18AM, Mar 5 2011 Pamela: I recommend a color in a warm golden shade. Try New Venetian Gold, Giallo Napoleone, Santa Cecilia Real, Astoria. Let me know what you think of these.
  • savanna 06:31PM, Nov 17 2010 My cabinets are a satin black, my granite is verde butterflly , floors are brazilian teak would travertine subway tiles look good. If so what size and color. Backsplash is only 12 in tall.
    • All Granite and Marble 10:41AM, Nov 19 2010 Savanna: Absolutely! I'd go with a 3" x 6" mocha travertine.
  • Rachel 11:03PM, Jul 13 2010 I have oak cabinets and I chose the verde butterfly for my granite. The floors for a brownish ceramic tile and I'm having a hard time choosing the backsplash. Any suggestions?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:14AM, Jul 14 2010 Rachel: I suggest to use a tumbled noce travertine tile.
  • MareH 01:50PM, Jul 3 2010 I have white cabinets with golden hardwood flooring. The walls are spanish red around the cabinetry and goldish tan around eating area. what color granite countertops would you recommend?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:58AM, Jul 5 2010 MareH: Try Santa Cecilia or New Venetian Gold.
  • Guest 06:29PM, May 31 2010 We have off-white cabinets, black appliances, and are putting in butterfly green granite. What would you suggest for the backsplash and floor? We have heard gold would look good...any other suggestions?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:43AM, Jun 1 2010 Guest: For the backsplash you may go into a sleek and elegant style with a simple, light subway tile. For the flooring, a travertine tile would look excellent with this set-up.
  • Sue 02:26PM, Apr 26 2010 I have white cabinets with oak hardwood floors. Kitchen is open to the family room which has the same hardwood floors. I am leaning towards butterfly granite for the countertops. However, I am having hard time with backsplash color and paint color (closed soffet) above the cabinets. Can you suggest options? Thanks
    • All Granite and Marble 04:07PM, Apr 26 2010 Sue: For backsplash try a tumbled noce travertine tile. And Benjamin Moore "Honeyed Almond" for paint.
  • Amy 10:12AM, Apr 10 2010 Thanks for the reply... is there a big price diff between Uba Tuba and Verde Butterfly?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:40PM, Apr 12 2010 Amy: They're priced very similar. For pricing please contact the sales office.
  • Amy 08:56PM, Apr 9 2010 I have white cabinets and white tile floors with dark green small tiles intermixed. Similar to pics above. Would u recommend verde butterfly or would uba tuba work? is uba tuba too black?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:36AM, Apr 10 2010 Amy: I'm leaning towards the Butterfly, a little warmer.
  • pattie 09:35AM, Mar 28 2010 I'm putting in honey oak cabniets and want the verde butterfly countertop what for a floor and backsplash stone?
    • All Granite and Marble 01:04PM, Mar 29 2010 pattie: For backsplash do a light subway tile and the floors can be done in a travertine tile.
  • Ted 12:33PM, Feb 12 2010 Not sure - looking for some suggestions
    • All Granite and Marble 02:14PM, Feb 12 2010 Ted: I'd suggest Kashmir Gold, or perhaps Santa Cecilia.
  • Ted 10:10AM, Feb 12 2010 We have 2 different colors of cabinets: ash and crimson red (sort of like this website) from Diamond. We also have ash floors. What color granite would suggest to tie the whole thing together.
    • All Granite and Marble 12:22PM, Feb 12 2010 Ted: Are you leaning towards a light or dark color so far?
  • fran 06:59PM, Jan 31 2010 I have white cabinets, light maple floor, open kitchen that goes into sage green dining room. i love butterfly but am having trouble with backsplash. suggestions
    • All Granite and Marble 03:36PM, Feb 1 2010 fran: Keep it simple -- subway tile.
  • ladyrose 10:17PM, Jan 21 2010 what is the difference bet verde butterfly and v b white and verde b light which will go better w/ golden oak cabinets&floors and black appliances 7
    • All Granite and Marble 08:59AM, Jan 22 2010 ladyrose: They are all very similar stones from the same family with variations in color tone, and the verde butterfly will create a warm, traditional atmosphere in your kitchen.
  • usha 10:39PM, Dec 4 2009 what granite color do you recommend for natural cherry cabineT?
    • All Granite and Marble 01:40PM, Dec 5 2009 usha: The Butterfly pictured above will look great.
  • Bob 08:01AM, Nov 28 2009 The floors are off white tile; the cabinets will; probably be very light maple. It's a small kitchen, but well-lit, and lake views in Florida and are leaning towards a darkish counter. Would a strong pattern be overwhelming? Would this be too dark.
    • All Granite and Marble 09:24AM, Nov 28 2009 Bob: I think you will be alright with the shade, but a lighter option in the greens is Pocono Green. This pattern is not overwhelming, it will look good.
  • anu 05:19PM, Oct 12 2009 i would like to know if this color will look good with cherry cabinets , my kitchen size is not very big ..so i dont any marble color which will shrink the kitchen
    • All Granite and Marble 05:25PM, Oct 12 2009 anu: You might want to look at Butterfly Green, it is a little lighter, will make the kitchen look more spacious. How is the natural light in your kitchen?
  • anita 08:25AM, Mar 26 2009 one more question. I want a granite sink, since I have white appliances do you think I should stick with the white sink or go with black?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:39AM, Mar 27 2009 anita: I think white would go well with the appliances.. Black is ok with the stone itself though.
  • anita 09:49PM, Mar 22 2009 i am remodeling. I have honey oak cabinets, white appliances and oak floors. I love green butterfly. Wall paper directly connecting to kitchen has dark green in it. Your thoughts.
    • All Granite and Marble 10:38AM, Mar 25 2009 anita: Seems like a nice design.
  • Leslie 03:16PM, Mar 12 2009 I am looking for a green granite to go with cherry cabinets and yellow and red accessories. What colors do you suggest
    • All Granite and Marble 04:53PM, Mar 16 2009 Leslie: Probably not green if you want red cherry.
  • sadie 09:25PM, Mar 11 2009 have seen butterfly green. do you think it would be good with espresso vanity?
    • All Granite and Marble 02:03PM, Mar 12 2009 sadie: With enough light, it should be alright.
  • rosemmarie 09:20AM, Jan 27 2009 natural oak cabinets with butterfly antique cabinents was going to go with oak floors with natural stone backsplash please advisev
    • All Granite and Marble 01:43PM, Jan 27 2009 rosemmarie: Sounds like the typical Uba Tuba kitchen.
  • Kathy 08:24PM, Nov 24 2008 Thank you. I went out looking again today and found a granite named Golden Sun. Lots of gray, creamy white, rust, warm tan, copper, etc, with movement like Creama Bourdeau. Does that sound better? Galaxy scares me--contrast and upkeep!
    • All Granite and Marble 10:05AM, Nov 25 2008 Kathy: It won't be as contrasting as the Galaxy, but I like the idea of a well defined pattern. That alone should make it pop.
  • All Granite and Marble 09:46AM, Nov 24 2008 Lisa:
  • Kathy 11:45PM, Nov 22 2008 red oak floors stained lt-med nutmeg, white cabinets, stainless appliances. There is gold, copper, dark brown nearby & large NE windows. How about Galaxy with a copper backsplash or V. Butterfly with a matching BSp? Other suggestions? The white has been difficult, since stones in granites are often cream or gray, etc.
    • All Granite and Marble 09:45AM, Nov 24 2008 Kathy: Yes, finding a white granite is going to be nearly impossible. I would stick to other colors. As far as the butterfly goes, it might not go too well wit the red oak floor. Galaxy is a fine choice, but be prepared to have a lot of contrast.
  • Jean 07:46PM, Nov 5 2008 cabinets are pickled oak w/pinkish tones, floor is multicolored w/teal&grey plus others, backsplash is white; appliances stainless.....will butterfy go with this combo or have I fallen in love with the wrong color granite?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:30AM, Nov 20 2008 Jean: Pink vs Green. That color combination might not go together so well. It really depends on what kind of pinkish tones we're talking about. My suggestion is to get a sample and put them together.
  • Dee 07:28PM, Nov 3 2008 is butterfly a blue, double blue or silver price range?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:43PM, Nov 19 2008 Dee: That is a question for our sales staff :) Give us a call!
  • Sue 03:49PM, Nov 3 2008 We are putting in new kitchen with light maple cabinets and light taupe tile floor. Would like something with color like butterfly. Your thoughts?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:43PM, Nov 19 2008 Sue: Butterfly is always a good match to maple. Keep in mind that this is a green and might prevent you from using reds in the rest of the decor.
  • Dawn M 04:34PM, Aug 16 2008 We're doing a kitchen remodel, have oak (med) floors, are using Hickory cupboards in a "Cinnamon" (brown/red medium) finish, and looking for advice on a countertop.
    • All Granite and Marble 04:33PM, Sep 19 2008 Dawn M: Check out Verde Sequoia.
  • Ginny 04:50PM, Jul 30 2008 What granite colors do you recommend for cherry cabinets cabernet finish
    • All Granite and Marble 04:39PM, Aug 11 2008 Ginny: Usually not this one. Green and red don't go together so well.
  • Mike 11:21AM, Jul 14 2008 I love this stone, wondering what kind of cabinet can go with it and also floor and backsplash?
    • All Granite and Marble 06:40PM, Jul 17 2008 Mike: Cabinet colors: white, and any type of maple, birch, walnut... as long as it's not reddish.
  • Buff 09:00AM, Feb 8 2008 My question is gone???
    • All Granite and Marble 10:04AM, Feb 15 2008 Buff: You asked the same question in two different places. One is enough.
  • byron francois 12:58AM, Nov 12 2007 my kitchen floors is black and white checker board, and iam purchasing cherry wood cabinets what color granite do think i should.
    • All Granite and Marble 12:20PM, Nov 12 2007 byron francois: Butterfly might be too green for your cabinets. Try to find something in the browns and golds.
