Thanks so much, Natalia, for your quick response and helpful suggestions.  I'm gonna check out samples of those tomorrow!! :)

Hi there. That's an elegant combination you have there -- Butterfly Antique & light oak wood. The countertops will offset the cabinets very nicely for an efficient contrast, while the golden flecks in the Butterfly will pick-up the oak wood at the same time! In regard to backsplash recommendations, I suggest to consider perhaps a Honey Onyx 2" x 4" Brick Mosaic or for something more subtle, take a look at Noce 2" x 2" Tumbled Travertine. In regard to flooring tile, a porcelain material from the Daltile line could be appropriate. Specifically, I have the Fidenza Cafe and Portenza Terra di Siena colors in-mind. I've attached photos of my suggestions for your easy reference. Best of luck!

I have chosen butterfly antique to go with my light oak cabinets and stainless appliances.  I am stuck on what flooring and backsplash to choose to compliment this combination.  What do you think?

  • Marble.com - Derek 09:37PM, Mar 1 2012

Sounds like quite an appropriate combination for an efficient contrast to offset the lighter cabinetry. I recommend to acquire a sample of the Verde granite and bring it home to put it against the cabinetry and see how you enjoy the combination in the kitchen light. Good luck!

Going for a antique white with a hazenut glaze. I fell in love with the verde peacock, would they go?

  • Marble.com - Derek 03:23PM, Jan 4 2012 You're welcome & Happy New Year.
  • Marchesani 11:20PM, Jan 2 2012 Thank you.
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:50PM, Dec 31 2011 Both are excellent choices with subtle differences in color tone. I suggest to look at the full slabs in-person and make a decision based off that by simply picking which one you are more attracted to. Good luck!
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:59PM, Dec 31 2011 You're welcome. It's best to look at the slabs in-person and compare, as it's hard to tell the differences from pictures on a website. Good luck!
  • Marchesani 01:33PM, Dec 30 2011 Which stone do you think would work better with American Woodmark honey oak cabinets, Verde Butterfly or Butterfly Antique?
  • Marchesani 01:17PM, Dec 30 2011 Thank you.
  • Marble.com - Derek 08:53PM, Nov 29 2011 These three stones are very similar, and of the same "family" of granite styles, but have slight differences in color tone and pattern when put next to each other.
  • Marchesani 01:45PM, Nov 24 2011 what is the difference between butterfly antique, verde butterfly and peacock green?
  • Susan 10:15PM, Feb 14 2011 I have medium oak cabinets and black appliances. I really like the butterfly antique but not sure if this will be too dark. My floor is hardwood in a golden oak
    • All Granite and Marble 10:19AM, Feb 15 2011 Susan: I think Butterfly Antique is a stunning choice for your countertops. The oak cabinets will be complimented warmly against this granite.
  • Keal 06:55PM, Jul 13 2010 This butterfly antique is pretty and i think would look ok with my golden oak cabinets, but i'm not sure if I want the black are there other options that you think would look good with golden oak. Kitchen is not very big just a U shape with a lower bar ledge. We live out in the country and so nothing fancy or modern would go with the rest of the house. The rest of the house has hard woods but the kitchen floor needs to be replaced and the type of flooring is still under consideration too. thanks for your help
    • All Granite and Marble 09:57AM, Jul 14 2010 Keal: You can go a little lighter in the green shade and it would look gorgeous. I'm thinking about Pocono Green or Butterfly.
  • Helene 06:00PM, May 16 2010 I have a galley kitchen. I want it to look tuscany. If I purchase maple cabinets, what color glaze should I use? What color granite should I use?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:10AM, May 17 2010 Helene: I suggest to use a mocha glaze on the maple cabinets. For the granite color, take a look at Santa Cecilia and New Venetian Gold. For darker choices, try Tropical Brown or Butterfly Antique.
  • mary 04:55PM, Mar 6 2010 i have verde peacock granite countertops, i am installing noce tumble travertine beige backsplash what color grout should i use? i like grey as opposed to beige to contrast the countertop what do u suggest
    • All Granite and Marble 11:41AM, Mar 8 2010 mary: Input this in your browser: http://www.grout-aide.com/colors2.html The "pewter" color would look great.
  • Jane 09:01PM, Oct 21 2009 I have found a granite called Verde Butterfly - Expo, I can't find the granite on your site but think it may be the same as the Butterfly Antigue. Black, Green and Gold with touches of white speckles. How would this be with Honey Oak Cabinets? It is very similar to Ubatuba but the pattern is a little larger which seems to have a better presentation. Thanks for the help.
    • All Granite and Marble 08:45AM, Oct 22 2009 Jane: Also check out Butterfly Green.
  • Virginia 06:04PM, Jan 6 2009 I like the gallery photos of Butterfly Antique, but the slab views look entirely different - not as dark. Why is this?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:32AM, Jan 7 2009 Virginia: This is a rather overexposed picture.
  • lyn 09:21PM, Feb 5 2008 I decided to go several shades lighter in cabs--a golden maple with dark chocolate brown glaze. no orange or red undertones. it looks beautiful w butterfly. we miss you here! I always enjoyed your responses. :-)
  • lyn 10:42PM, Jan 30 2008 oops! I meant should I use dark green for countertop or is there another color I should go towards? I'm trying to avoid browns. The suggestion to me was tropic brown. yuck.
    • All Granite and Marble 05:13PM, Feb 7 2008 lyn: Sorry Lyn. I'm trying to catch up with the responses. There is only one of me and 10,000 visitors a day.
  • Lyn 10:19PM, Jan 30 2008 I have samples of butterfly and peacock green. butterfly has white flakes n copper veins. peacock has copper veins n no white at all. should I use this w/dark chocolate brown cabinets (that has a golden undertone)? tumbled marble backsplash n travertine floor. soffit/walls are creamy beige/ivory. kitchen has very high ceilings.
    • All Granite and Marble 05:12PM, Feb 7 2008 Lyn: I would probably choose the one without white. It won't distract the eyes so much.
