  • Steve 10:24PM, Aug 14 2011 We are having this counterop installed and were wondering: What does the free sink look like?
  • Marble.com - Derek 02:38PM, Jul 11 2011 Provide some more information on your design and I will try to help you. What color cabinets and paint are you using? What kind of glass backsplash?
  • Flemingtga 03:20PM, Jul 8 2011 Did you finish your kitchen and how did it turn out?  I am having same problem matchin Dakota Mahogony with glass mosaic back splash tile and paint!  any photos?  flemingtga@aim.com
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:42PM, Jun 27 2011 I recommend a soft and simple matte subway tile in a brick pattern. The colors I have in mind  are Daltile Rittenhouse Square "Urban Putty" and "Ice Grey".
  • David 12:03AM, Jun 26 2011 We have Dakota Mahogany countertop, white cabinets, oak floor (light), stainless appliances and sink and awful tile between the countertop and cabinets that we are replacing.  We are having a hard time picking something that works well.  Any suggestions for the tile between the counter and cabinet?  Thank you.
  • Lizbeth 12:19AM, Aug 3 2010 Hi again - thanks for the thoughts on the Forever Denim. I called our cabinet guy and the stain color is Cider. As you know, we are going with Dakota Mahogany. We are being told that our 100 yr old maple floors may be best left with no stain. What are your thoughts on how this will all look together? I am starting to panic that my color combo of granite, cabinets and paint are wrong. Thanks so much for your advice.
    • All Granite and Marble 10:15AM, Aug 3 2010 Lizbeth: Take a deep breath, kitchen renovation and design is a stressful task. The dakota granite will go nicely with your wall color, they compliment each other and go hand in hand. The cabinetry will offer enough contrast between the countertop for an elegant design, go for it!
  • Lizbeth 10:53AM, Jul 26 2010 Thanks for the suggestion. I would like it to be a bit bluer if we are going with Blue. Would you suggest blues over reds? I am really stuck on a burnt red but afraid to just commit. What I have here is Behr Powdered Brick and Behr Forever Denim. What are your opinions on those? Thanks.
    • All Granite and Marble 12:14PM, Jul 27 2010 Lizbeth: I'm leaning towards the Forever Denim, that would look gorgeous with your dakota mahogany granite.
  • Lizbeth 12:37AM, Jul 25 2010 I am doing a honey oak maple cabinet with dakota mahogany granite - I am torn between a greyish blue paint or reddish paint - any suggestions?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:54AM, Jul 26 2010 Lizbeth: Try Benjamin Moore "Polar Sky".
  • MercyBen 02:03PM, Dec 15 2009 Thanks for your last response. I'm blank on this. So, any suggestion as to color of travertine to go with this countertop? I haven't seen a lot of kitchens with dakota mahogany countertop to get ideas from. TIA
    • All Granite and Marble 09:51AM, Dec 16 2009 MercyBen: Take a look at Tumbled Noce Travertine.
  • MercyBen 09:35PM, Nov 6 2009 Thanks Moderator, do you have any color/shade of travertine in mind?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:33AM, Nov 7 2009 MercyBen: Whatever you like best, keep it light however.
  • MercyBen 04:36PM, Nov 6 2009 I have ginger maple cabinets, dakota mahogany countertop and SS appliances, what would be your recommendation for a backsplash? Thanks
    • All Granite and Marble 04:57PM, Nov 6 2009 MercyBen: Tumbled travertine perhaps.
  • Wayne 10:39AM, Aug 25 2009 I have Dove White cabinets, and Dakota Mahogany counters, with light grey walls. Can you recommend a backsplach color(s). Thank you
    • All Granite and Marble 11:03AM, Aug 25 2009 Wayne: I would use accent colors to the reds in the granite.
  • Ann 01:38PM, Jul 7 2009 We have chosen russet colored cabinets with Dakota Mahogany countertops, can you recommend some tiles that would work as the back splash
    • All Granite and Marble 03:01PM, Jul 8 2009 Ann: Alternatively you can break the colors with some goldish brown tile.
  • Ann 01:35PM, Jul 7 2009 We have chosen russet colored cabinets with Dakota Mahogany countertops, can you recommend some tiles that would work as the back splash
    • All Granite and Marble 03:00PM, Jul 8 2009 Ann: I like the play on the reds in the stone and wood. I think you should let that take the lead and use a rather neutral backsplash. Maybe a very uniform slate (if you have sufficient lighting).
  • Susan 08:54AM, Jun 23 2009 either, just need something that compliments the granite and the Oak
    • All Granite and Marble 10:17AM, Jun 26 2009 Susan: Ok. Try a ceramic or porcelain tile (more practical) that mimics light travertine. It should compliment both quite well.
  • SUSAN R PURSEL 08:11AM, Jun 18 2009 I have Standard Oak cabinets and Dakota Mahogany Granite Counter top (Stainless Steel and Black Appliances) .. need ideas on flooring
    • All Granite and Marble 05:19PM, Jun 18 2009 SUSAN R PURSEL: Do you want tile or hardwood?
  • Elisa 02:31PM, Mar 13 2009 I have dakota mahogany floors that don't have any mahogany--mainly grey and terracota. My cabinets are dark cherry. I am trying to find a light countertop to go with the rest of the bathroom. Any recommendations?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:56PM, Mar 16 2009 Elisa: Maybe Kashmir White... It has some burgundy in it.
  • Denise 05:47PM, Feb 27 2009 I have medium brown stained pine country cabinets, an medium color oak floor and a ceramic tile backsplash that is a bluish/gray. Do you think Dakota Mahogney would be a good countertop color?
    • All Granite and Marble 10:40AM, Mar 2 2009 Denise: Yes, it's a good choice. Also check out Sapphire Blue.
