  • Marble.com - Kinga 09:23PM, Aug 8 2011 It is my absolute pleasure to help! You are 100% right to see the slab in person with your cabinet sample because it will help you make your decision. The natural beauty of granite is what draws people to put it in their kitchens and you’re definitely on the right track with your color choices! Let me know how your visit goes!
  • Bedwards2 08:05PM, Aug 6 2011 Thank you so much!  I like the Tan Brown Classic the best.  I think it would go well with the cabinet and black trim.  I need to get there with my cabinet to see how it looks.  I'm 99.9% possitive that we will choose granite.  I love the randomness of the stone.
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:51PM, Aug 5 2011 Bedwards2,

The choices you've mentioned will surely be a great match, and have rich golden understones. You can design a very warm kitchen with these colors, and create the needed contrast with other aspects, such as floor and backsplash. I really enjoy the Golden Persa, and if you use a darker floor tile such as porcelain "Noce" then this design may work nicely. I've attached an image of the tile. Granite is very durable and most stones have a low porosity, so you have nothing to be concerned about in terms of staining. Just reseal the stone every 6 to 12 months and it will be stain resistant. You can purchase sealers recommended by us from www.MRSTONE.com
  • Marble.com - Kinga 06:00PM, Aug 4 2011 When you visit a location nearest you, a salesperson can update the estimate you did online to reflect all 5 standard price groups (make sure you have your online estimate ID). As far as oil is concerned, there are oil stain removers like this one http://www.mrstone.com/stone-c... . Make sure to watch the video, it’s amazing! If you do not properly re-seal your stone, there is a potential for staining. You have to re-apply a sealer every 6 months to a year to protect it from stains (spray & wipe).

The stones you mentioned as possible choices may be too close in color to your cabinets which would blend and the space will lack contrast. Consider going lighter like the Furacan Bordeaux, Ambrosia Gold and Santa Cecilia Real or go dark like Imperial Coffee, Tan Brown Classic and the always timeless Ubatuba.

  • Bedwards2 04:39PM, Aug 4 2011 Thank you for getting back so quickly.  I also like Golden Shadow, Golden Persa, Giallo Vincenza Gold and Bordeaux.  I just revieved my cabinets, they are still in boxes in my living room.  They are Thomasville Maple, Camden door, and Brierwood Color.  We got matching moulding with black braiding.  We are redoing everything from floors to walls, I wanted to pick out my counter first and then work around that.  My kitchen is what you see as soon as you walk in my house so it is really important to me to pick out something that really stands out.

My husband is concerned about the granite because someone from work told him about her counter and oil.  He researched last night and found many horror stories about oil stains.  We have two kids (13 &10) and need something that can handle us.  My in-laws have silestone and I just don't think it is as nice as granite.  How good is it once you seal it?

Any suggestions on counters/colors would be great.  I also received an Estimate with single blue and double blue pricing, so if  you could tell me where things fall, that would be great!

    Thanks again :-)
  • Marble.com - Kinga 03:12PM, Aug 4 2011 Unfortunately,  it seems we sold out of this stone.  Did you see any other stones you like?
  • Bedwards2 02:42PM, Aug 4 2011 Can you tell me what price group this falls under?
