Anything in the red shades will pick up the reddish undertones from the granite, something like a brick red would complement the granite nicely.

  • Donna Timmerman 04:27PM, Apr 5 2013

Have Sapphire Blue granite and looking to update my cabinets by having them painted a white/cream color.  I have travertine floors and tan walls.  Any recommendation on color for my cabinets???  I hear Swiss Coffee with grey glaze may be a good choice.

  • Marble.com - Adrian 02:13PM, Mar 22 2013

Hi, to the blue countertop and backsplash I would recommend you to go with light grey colour, whi will give you conteporary touch in the kitchen. Please take a look at the attachments: ICI Dulux Silver  Cloud and Benjamin Moore Grey OWL OC-52. Good luck !

  • LC 08:24PM, Mar 20 2013

We are updating our kitchen and installing white cabinets. We love the sapphire blue granite and are using a denim blue glass subway tile as a backsplash.  It is a smaller kitchen. The floor we picked out is similar to Daltile Desert Franciscan Coastal Azul but a little darker with less blue. It still has hints of the blue though.  What color paint can you recommend for this?

  • Marble.com - Adrian 05:42PM, Mar 18 2013

Hi, I think that Sapphire Blue will look really nice with cherry cabinets and stainless appliance will provide a nice complement. In terms of design thinking about the backsplash I think that you can try with some Mosaic. Please see the attachments with examples that I have found for you: Blue and Grey Glass Mosaic or Blue, Grey and Beige Travertine Mosaic. Also you may try with something simple like Grey Ceramic Tiles.I hope I could help you !

we have cherry cabinets with fruit wood stain and are planning on using sapphire blue for the counters.  any suggestions for backsplash  dont want kitchen to look dreary.  the sapphire blue has just the right amount of reddish tan chunks to bring out the cherry cabinets,  also suggestions on hardware.  going with stainless steel appliances
    thanks

  • Marble.com - Derek 01:14PM, Sep 25 2012

Hi Joe. Both of the countertop choices you are considering are quite elegant, contemporary-looking colors with a beautiful, consistent, tight grained pattern. Out of the two possibilities you're considering, I am leaning toward the Sapphire Blue granite as a nice complement against the natural maple wood. The Coastal Azul tile would pick-up the counters perfectly and tie-in the design. Go for it!

  • Joenap71 03:17AM, Sep 22 2012

Hello, We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen. We are using natural maple cabinets and are trying to decide on Blue Saphire or Blue Pearl counters. We were also considering using the Daltile Franciscan Slate either the Costal Azul or the Terra Morrone. Thanks Joe

  • Marble.com - Derek 03:29PM, Jul 5 2012

Yes, laminate flooring is a solid, durable choice that will look very nice with Sapphire Blue granite in the set-up.

  • Marble.com - Derek 03:59PM, Jul 2 2012

Hello Donna. It is absolutely possible to have a full granite backsplash fabricated that goes up to the upper cabinetry! When we do such a backsplash, it is the same thickness as the countertop. Standard is 1 1/4" which is the thickness of the slabs. However some slabs also have a 3/4" variant, so if that is available then the backsplash can be 3/4" but those choices are very limited. Hope this helps!

  • S bechtel 09:45PM, Jun 28 2012

I am trying to decide on new flooring. Is Laminate flooring durable for pets and does it compliment the saphire blue granite countertops?

  • Marble.com - Natalia 06:15PM, Jun 28 2012

Hi Karen! Sure you are! The Sapphire Blue is a stunning color and would offset the pickled cabinets very nicely while picking up the hues in the floor tile.

  • Donna 12:36PM, Jun 26 2012

Is it possible to have a  "back splash" go all the way up to the cabinets? I have seen pics of some other kitchens done that way, and I really like the smooth overall look. (also have seen pics of showers etc lined with granite)  I already have a ceramic floor that is a smooth cream/off white, and I think introducing yet another tile as a back splash would be too many textures. I also have stucco textured walls. Does granite come in thinner "sheets" to do this? Is the price cheaper when it is thinner?
    Thanks!

  • Karen 05:44PM, Jun 24 2012

Have pickled cabinets, black appliances and  light mocha walls. Floors are ceramic tile with very little blue and taupe pattern that is quite neutral. Lots of white trim. Kitchen
has lots of natural light. Am I headed in the right direction with blue saphire?

  • Marble.com - Derek 03:29PM, Jun 14 2012

I recommend to use porcelain tile as it's stronger and more durable than ceramic. A porcelain slate imitation called Daltile Desert Franciscan Coastal Azul would look very nice. I've attached a photo for your reference.

  • S Bechtel 12:05PM, Jun 10 2012

Hello, My counter tops are Granite Saphire blue, I have white cabinets, and white appliances. I also have picked a tile back splash with blue inserts accented with white tiles as well. My next decision is new flooring to replace the vinyl flooring I have now. I have pets, so I would need durable and waterproof. I like ceremic tiles, but I have known in the past of breakage.  Do you have any suggestions?

  • Marble.com - Derek 06:41PM, Jun 7 2012

I recommend a light tile to offset the darker sapphire granite but with accents / inserts that will accentuate the counters. Take a look at Thassos Marble with Blue Celeste inserts or perhaps a Mirabelle Collection blue, grey, brown glass tile in a brick pattern. I've attached photos for you. Hope this helps!

  • Sallianne 08:02PM, Jun 3 2012

Going to make over my 25 year kitchen. I love the Granite Saphire blue. I am choosing White cabinets and I have white appliances. I would like suggestions for a back splash to compliment the granite countertops. I like the ceremic tile look, but just not sure what else is available

  • Marble.com - Derek 04:45PM, May 1 2012

Great combination on the Sapphire Blue and Colonial Cherry cabinetry. I'd use a warm, tumbled natural stone tile for the backsplash such as Mocha Split-Faced travertine or 2" x 2" Noce travertine for that traditional look. For the floor tile, an option such as Oasis Gold travertine or a similar looking imitation is very appropriate. I've attached photos of my suggestions for your reference. Good luck!

  • Terriaull 03:25AM, Apr 25 2012

Forget to add that I have stainless steel appliances, though my range has a black cooktop

  • Marble.com - Derek 04:32PM, Apr 24 2012

I do not think the Sapphire Blue would be too busy, but what you should do is acquire a sample of the stone to put against your cabinet (along with your new choice of Impala Black) in the kitchen light & space to see how you enjoy the combinations. Also, look at the full slabs in-person before making any final decisions. The Impala Black is sleek and elegant, but it's darker than the Sapphire so you must keep that in mind. Good luck!

  • Terri 04:25PM, Apr 24 2012

I Will also have medium cherry cabinets (called colonial cherry) and am considering sapphire blue. I like how rich the two look together. My kitchen
gets some natural light, but not a lot, so I would like to brighten up the room with the floor, backsplash and paint colors. Do you have suggestions for floor, backsplash and paint that would allow me to have a traditional warm look without looking dark and dreary. Also, I want to be classic and not trendy. Thanks in advance!! Your web site has been my most helpful resource in my decorating project.

  • Marble.com - Derek 03:37PM, Apr 24 2012

I do not think the Sapphire Blue is too busy. It's a quite consistent, tight pattern and grain which helps the situation. This color would be an appropriate contrast to offset your medium brown cabinetry while picking up the shades in the natural slate floor. For the backsplash, I'd use a warm yet neutral tumbled natural tile such as Walnut Fontane 2" x 2" travertine or Jerusalem Gold 2" x 4" Beveled marble. I've attached photos for your reference. A soft and neutral wall color would be from the Benjamin Moore line called Linen White or Navajo White. Hope this helps!

  • Marybeth Laroche 03:59PM, Apr 22 2012

After looking at more pics of the blue sapphire, I'm thinking it may be too busy. Perhaps the Impala Black would be a better choice, but I would love some suggestions. The multi-colored slate floor really seems to limit my choices.

  • MB 10:29PM, Apr 20 2012

My dining room and kitchen are all one room with the old fashioned multi colored slate floor (lt grey, dark gray, red, and a sort of greenish blue). My cabinets are stained with a medium brown (called Early American) as is all the woodwork.  I really like the sapphire blue granite, but do you think it's too busy? I have stainless steel appliances, plenty of natural light.
    What about a backsplash recommendation?
Also, I want a nice calm, neutral wall color... What do you suggest? Thanks so much!

  • Marble.com - Derek 02:44PM, Mar 6 2012

I'm leaning toward Sapphire Blue as it's a happy medium. The granite pictured on this page would provide an excellent contrast but it's not too dark to start looking gloomy. Make sure to acquire a sample and bring it home to put it against your cabinets in the kitchen light and see how you enjoy the combination before making a final decision on your choice. Good luck!

  • Wawing 03:47AM, Mar 2 2012

I have sesame maple wood cabinets in the kitchen I'm not sure what granite color will work well with it -- tan brown, sapphire blue or ivory fantasy.  By the way, the kitchen is small, about 10x12.

  • Marble.com - Derek 12:26PM, Oct 27 2011 I'm leaning toward the Tan Brown as it's a warmer and more organic shade of colors over the Sapphire Blue which has cooler blue tones in it. Another option could be a granite such as Tropical Brown. Hopefully these suggestions will ease your indecision. Good luck!
  • Marble.com - Derek 06:42PM, Oct 26 2011 I recommend to look at the Sapphire Blue in-person and make that determination yourself, as well as take a sample home to see how it looks in your particular kitchen light. Also, take a look at colors such as Angola Black, Imperial Coffee, and Tan Brown. Good luck!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 02:15PM, Oct 24 2011 Because oak cabinets are natural, both of the stones would work great in your space. If you are looking to tie both spaces together, I feel the Tan Brown would very well. If you like stones will green tones, check out Green Gold and Ubatuba which would work well with your space and your cabinets. Let me know what you think!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:39PM, Oct 24 2011 It’s difficult to say how a particular granite will look in your space without taking a sample home. The Sapphire Blue I have here in Danbury has a grey overall look; however,  if you look closer, you can see the beautiful blue flecks. Each shipment of the same stone will have a different look so you definitely need to bring a sample home and see if it’s too blue for your taste.
  • Cycln96 04:50AM, Oct 23 2011 I have natural finished oak cabinets in my kitchen which is open to my living room which has red and tan bricks on the fireplace.  I'm contemplating tan brown or sapphire blue for counters and also like some of the green tones.  I'm flexible on paint color and was planning on a darker finished hardwood floor.  Which counter top color would work best with the cabinets?
  • Cheriefiscus 01:02PM, Oct 22 2011 I have white cabinets and oak floors and want a dark brown/black granite. I love the sapphire blue granite, and  see the light blue quartz inclusions, which are ok, but does it have a bluish look installed? I don't have any blue in my house, i love the brown/black seen in the pics but don't want it to look  "blue".
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:49PM, Aug 17 2011 The Sapphire Blue pictured on this page is a perfect choice for your design. Another option could be Emerald Pearl. And we do need a clarification on the tile, if the whole tile was done in Cobalt Blue, then that's a very stark and strong color, it's sure to make a statement!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:14PM, Aug 17 2011 Is the entire backsplash done in the cobalt blue tile or is it just accent pieces? If the entire backsplash is done in the cobalt blue, The Sapphire Blue would work great. If your backsplash has only accent cobalt blue tiles, the  Blue Pearl GT would be a great choice.
  • Aces4ulady 12:11AM, Aug 17 2011 I have a white kitchen with cobalt blue backsplash.  but would like a granite on the flat surfaces.  which would you recommend
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:38PM, Aug 12 2011 Diana,
I apologize but unfortunately, I do not know the maker of this tile. It was an example I found in Google search. You can take this picture with you to your local tile shop and they will be able to tell you if they carry it or something similar. Derek mentioned before that you can actually e-mail this photo to many local tile shops and they can inform you if they have it in stock. Hope this helps!
  • DIANA 01:12PM, Aug 11 2011 Love your choice-what is the brand & name of the sample shown?
  • Marble.com - Kinga 01:05PM, Aug 11 2011 A glass mosaic would look amazing in your space!
  • Marble.com - Derek 08:04PM, Aug 10 2011 Glass backsplash will look stunning and modern, go for it! You can add accent colors with shades of the stone as inserts. I agree that a full granite backsplash of the Sapphire Blue would be a little too gloomy and dark. Let me know if you have any further questions. Good luck!
  • Marble.com - Derek 03:10PM, Aug 9 2011 Also, have you picked a countertop choice yet?
  • DIANA 03:24AM, Aug 9 2011 Thanks for the suggestion.  I was thinking of a glass backsplash-white to bring in the trim and/or maybe the blue that's in the granite? I thought a backsplash of the granite might be too dark. What do you think?
  • DIANA 03:23AM, Aug 9 2011 Thanks for the suggestion.  I was thinking of a glass backsplash-white to bring in the trim and/or maybe the blue that's in the granite? I thought a backsplash of the granite might be too dark. What do you think??
  • Marble.com - Derek 09:30PM, Aug 8 2011 Soft and calm is the way to go in this particular situation -- I've attached an image of my number one pick: Benjamin Moore Line 'Linen White'.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:55PM, Aug 8 2011 Would you be able to attach a photo of both stains you are considering? Since stains may vary in shade and sometimes overall look from maker to maker, an attached photo would be the best way for us to provide you with our opinion.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:25PM, Aug 8 2011 I feel since there is a lot of color going on in the kitchen, you may want to consider going light and neutral like Benjamin Moore’s “Sugar Cookie” or “Snow White” or just continue the color of the adjacent room in the kitchen. But both of the BM colors would work great in your space. Let me know what you think!
  • P_letje 11:34PM, Aug 7 2011 We are currently building a house and I am trying to finalize the color of my kitchen island. The cabinets are maple with a Cabernet stain, I want the island a different color. The island is 9' long but not cetIn the width but it's pretty wide since my sink is on the island and there is plenty of counter space on the opposite side of sink. Do you think a maple cabinet with an espresso stain will look good with a Cabernet stain of cabinets?
  • DIANA 06:21PM, Aug 6 2011 WE HAVE AMERICAN CHERRY CABINETS , SAPPHIRE BLUE GRANITE,  2 WINDOWS LOW NATURAL LIGHT AND SLATE LIKE PORCELAIN TILE -SHADES OF LIGHT GRAY, BLUES & REDDISH TAN.  THE ROOM IS ADJACENT TO A ROOM WITH CONCORD IVORY & PHILADELPHIA CREAM -WHAT COLOR PAINT WOULD WORK IN THIS AREA?
  • Marble.com - Derek 12:15PM, Jul 27 2011 Gorgeous choice! I think this blue glass tile will compliment Sapphire Blue perfectly. It's a sleek and modern look. Let us know if you have any further questions!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:39PM, Jul 25 2011 I absolutely LOVE that backsplash especially with the Sapphire Blue! You did a wonderful job picking it out. I love that you went to the subway style because it will make the space visually larger. But before you purchase enough tile for your kitchen, make sure you like it against the granite. See the slab in person with your tile sample to make you enjoy the look. But otherwise, go for it 100%!
  • Michelle 03:01PM, Jul 24 2011 Hi Kinga,  I found blue glass tile for the backsplash. Do you think it would work with the SB, or would another granite color work better? I've attached a photo of the sample. Thanks!
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:37PM, Jul 14 2011 You're welcome. I'm really liking Kinga's recommendation for the backsplash, a combination of adding blue glass inserts is perfect, you should totally use that!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:06PM, Jul 14 2011 Michelle,
It’s my pleasure! If you make any decisions, I would love to see some photos especially of the finished project!
  • Michelle 08:04PM, Jul 12 2011 Thanks for the advice. I like the "Lighthouse Landing" recommendation and will check out the tile.
  • Michelle 08:01PM, Jul 12 2011 I like the idea of adding the blue glass tiles to the backsplash. The marble and glass make a nice combination, Thanks for the advice!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:31PM, Jul 12 2011 Botticino tumbled marble would look great with your setup and Derek’s paint suggestion would finish off the design wonderfully. Consider adding some blue glass tile accents to bring more visual interest to your space. Let me know what you think!
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:13PM, Jul 12 2011 A neutral but warm paint color should compliment the space nicely, try Benjamin Moore "Lighthouse Landing". As for backsplash, I recommend a tumbled Crema Marfil marble tile.
  • Michelle 03:50PM, Jul 12 2011 We're having painted linen cabinets with a mist glaze with the SB granite. Our floor is a grey ceramic tile. Our appliances are stainless. The kitchen has some natural light, but not too much. It also opens into a family room area, which has a lot of light.  What would you recommend for a black splash? What paint color would work in this area as well? Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:58PM, Jul 5 2011 Sapphire Blue would look stunning with your set-up, go for it!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:51PM, Jul 5 2011 Cori,
I remember when you came into our Danbury facility with a sample of wall paper containing the same colors as your valance and you immediately noticed the Sapphire Blue sample on my desk. Remember, each time you went into the yard you kept coming back with the same stone? If you keep coming back to the same granite out of hundreds of choices, it makes your decision so much easier! Personally, I feel the Sapphire Blue would look absolutely stunning with your setup. The colors worked so well with the granite I feel it’s the perfect choice for your space. The colors tie in wonderfully you just can’t go wrong so my vote is still for the Sapphire Blue!
  • Cori 06:16PM, Jul 4 2011 In my kitchen I have pickled oak cabinets  that cast a pinkish tint and have pewter knobs and pulls.  Just purchased all stainless appliances.  The floor is oak, the walls behind the counter (and all adjoining room walls) are a light grey, and the contemporary looking window valance above the sink has a black background with splashes of deep pink, greyish purple, and turquoise.  Would the blue sapphire granite tie this look together?
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:15PM, Jun 22 2011 As Kinga already mentioned, a wall color with blue undertones would be very appropriate for your design and pick up the colors in your granite. My recommendation is Benjamin Moore "Antique Glassware". You can use light ceramic tiles for the shower walls and floors, even a natural stone such as marble tile.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:56PM, Jun 21 2011 Although, the stone has a consistent pattern, it does have a lot going on. I would keep the walls light with a hint of blue like Benjamin Moore’s “Lookout Point” or “In Your Eyes”. If you prefer something more neutral, checkout BM’s “Barely Beige”. If you use a paint color with a hint of blue, I would use a clean, white subway tile for the shower and large white tiles for the floor. Make sure to use the same finish or glaze on both shower and floor tile to tie the space together. I would use several shades of blue from the stone itself and insert a glass tile boarder in the shower and accents on the floor. If you do a neutral paint, I would use a light tumbled marble for shower (small) and floor (large) with blue glass boarder and accents.

Let me know what you think!
  • Laura 03:53AM, Jun 21 2011 We just purchased a bathroom vanity that's caramel truffle colored with brushed nickel handles. We purchased the blue sapphire granite countertop. Looking for advice on tile color for the shower walls and floor. We have a white sink and tub. Also any thoughts on wall paint colors that would compliment this setup. thanks in advance!
  • All Granite and Marble 01:03PM, Jun 6 2011 I'm leaning towards Tan Brown for a rich warm feel to your set up, the blueish flecks in the other choices are cooler and more appropriate for white cabinets. Let me know what you think.
  • Jenn 10:06PM, Jun 3 2011 We have Toffee Maple cabinets, white oak flooring, and white appliances. I am between blue pearl, cranberry tan/brown, and sapphire blue granite tops. There is a lot of sunlight. Which top would you recommend? Thank you!!
  • Rosa 12:03PM, Apr 25 2011 Sorry to bother you again. I forgot to ask do you think sapphire blue is a bad choice and should be completely opt out from our choice? If it is the case, we will not consider it anymore. Really need your opinion again. Thank you for your time!!
    • All Granite and Marble 09:08AM, Apr 26 2011 Rosa: The Sapphire Blue is also fine, it would make a great contrast to offset the honey oak cabinets. The Santa Cecilia however is warmer picks up the color tones in your set-up. I recommend to get a sample of both choices and see how they look in your kitchen.
  • Rosa 11:13AM, Apr 25 2011 Thank you for your recommendations. Can you explain why sapphire blue is not a good choice? I am leaning leading towards Santa Cecilia but my husband likes sapphire blue! Thanks again!
    • All Granite and Marble 09:09AM, Apr 26 2011 Rosa: The Sapphire Blue is also fine, it would make a great contrast to offset the honey oak cabinets. The Santa Cecilia however is warmer picks up the color tones in your set-up. I recommend to get a sample of both choices and see how they look in your kitchen.
  • Rosa 09:17PM, Apr 24 2011 we have honey oak cabinet and 6x6 light pink ceramic floor. Large kitchen with plenty of natural sunlight which is open to the family room. Wall is very light creamy color. would you recommend Santa Cecilia or Sapphire blue granite countertop ? Also, what are the best backsplash tile go for each granite countertop? Thanks.
    • All Granite and Marble 10:14AM, Apr 25 2011 Rosa: I'm leaning towards Santa Cecilia "Real" variety. Another option could be New Venetian Gold. For backsplash, try a Botticino tumbled marble tile or Travertine Mocha tile.
  • mike 12:01PM, Mar 7 2011 Also, what paint color would you recommend with this combination?
    • All Granite and Marble 10:01AM, Mar 8 2011 Mike: For wall color, try Benjamin Moore "Yosemite Sand".
  • mike 11:59AM, Mar 7 2011 I have espresso (dark brown/almost black) oak cabinets, oak floors with a stain close to the cabinet color in the pictures on this page, and stainless appliances. Do you think the blue sapphire will be too dark? Thanks!
    • All Granite and Marble 09:56AM, Mar 8 2011 Mike: I think it might be a little too dark indeed. How about Caledonia?
  • larry 04:20AM, Feb 16 2011 I have sapphire blue granite counters with cherry bordeaux cabinets. I have a large kitchen with good light, with a biege stone tile on the floor. What color will you recommend for the walls to make it stand out.
    • All Granite and Marble 08:58AM, Feb 16 2011 Larry: Some suggestions to spark your creativity are Benjamin Moore "Enlighten Mint", "Polar Sky", and "Swiss Coffee". Let me know what you think.
  • Nick 12:06AM, Feb 12 2011 I love the look of this stone. Would a maple cinnamon cabinet be too red for this? The cabinets in the pictures look kinda cinnamon-y. I'm torn between that and a maple toffee shade (but I think that's too light for my taste). I was gonna pair either with a grayish-blue wall color such as Behr "Willow Wood." What do you think about that?
    • All Granite and Marble 10:47AM, Feb 14 2011 Nick: I don't think your cabinet color will be too red. The Sapphire Blue granite will compliment the cinnamon cabinets nicely by creating a warm and elegant atmosphere, go for it!
  • Michele 02:23PM, Dec 2 2010 I have a just ordered my sapphire blue granite counters for my honey oak cabinets. I am getting a natural maple floor put in and am looking for a paint color for the walls. I have a large kitchen with good light and would like a color, not just another beige or off white.
    • All Granite and Marble 11:27AM, Dec 3 2010 Michele: Perhaps a color like Benjamin Moore "Fresh Water" to compliment the blue tones in the Sapphire granite.
  • Mike 06:24PM, Nov 21 2010 Hello, we're building a custom home and are currently considering various granite choices. We've selected a royal maple finish for our cabinets and decided on slightly darker hardwoods for the floors. Will sapphire blue brown be a good granite choice in this case? Thank you!
    • All Granite and Marble 10:15AM, Nov 22 2010 Mike: Absolutely! A gorgeous choice for your design.
  • Lisa 02:18PM, Nov 21 2010 I have this sapphire blue granite countertop with oak cabinets. 1) Do you have this granite color in sheet tile? 2) Can you recommend a backsplash tile
    • All Granite and Marble 10:16AM, Nov 22 2010 Lisa: We do not carry this granite in tile. For backsplash, an off-white subway tiel or tumbled botticino marble is appropriate.
  • mike 12:15PM, Apr 16 2010 We have mecium oak cabinets and natural oak floors. We have moderate light but cannot have recessed lighting. What color walls would you suugest and what color granite?
    • All Granite and Marble 03:44PM, Apr 16 2010 mike: Try Tropical Brown. Perhaps Benjamin Moore "Honeyed Almond" wall paint.
  • Keith 11:16AM, Feb 3 2010 Have light color wood cabinets and light hardwood floors with white appliances. Paint is light beige and kitchen opens into sitting room where the light beige continues but also includes accent wall that is Grand Canyon Red. Looking at this Sapphire Blue/Brown, Tan Brown, and Black Pearl. With of these colors do you think would match the best and give best contrast/wow factor? Another thing to mention is there is a lot of natural light.
    • All Granite and Marble 01:20PM, Feb 3 2010 Keith: I'm leaning towards the Tan Brown, it will offset the light wood beautifully while complimenting the red accents in your house.
  • debbie 01:39PM, Jan 31 2010 medium stained maple cabinets, hard wood floor (not stained), considering saphire blue for counter top for counters and island, kitchen open to family room, looking for a paint color for both rooms, want the same color. thanks
    • All Granite and Marble 03:32PM, Feb 1 2010 debbie: Take a look at Benjamin Moore "Northern Air".
  • Dee 09:04AM, Jan 31 2010 I have light maple cabinets with light hardwoods, both about the same color. I am looking for a a darker color granite that will really pop in the kitchen. How visable it the blue in this stone? From some pics I see it looks more brown and in other the blue is very visable. Are sapphire blue and sapphie brown the same stone? Any other colors you could reccomend?
    • All Granite and Marble 03:25PM, Feb 1 2010 Dee: Two different stones, although similar. The blue will be more visible if you have plenty of natural light in your kitchen. This is a good choice for your set-up, it will add warmth.
  • Annette 09:34PM, Jan 22 2010 I am using Sapphire Blue for our countertop with medium cherry cabinets. The island cabinets, however, are an espresso color. Should I use the same granite or do you think it will be too dark? If so, can you suggest a lighter color that will work well next to the SB?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:14AM, Jan 23 2010 Annette: "Vanilla" will tie-in well, but I don't think your overall scheme will be too dark by staying with SB for everything, if you have a large kitchen and plenty of natural light.
  • ANNA PILLA 12:24PM, Oct 14 2009 Hi, I am in a crux over granite for our fireplace. We have chosen a cherry wood (traditional cherry wood stain) for our Family Room. The kitchen adjacent will have cherry wood cabinets with Giallo Vicenza granite (going for a Tuscan look). I am limited in my choice for granite between beige marble, blue pearl, venetian gold, tan brown, baltic brown. Do I go dark or do I go light, what is more aesthetically pleasing with a cherry wood fireplace? (and also complimentary to the adjacent kitchen)? Thanks so much. Anna
    • All Granite and Marble 01:52PM, Oct 14 2009 ANNA PILLA: Going lighter will compliment the cherry cabinets. Venetian Gold would look very good.
  • Dannielle 04:49PM, Sep 24 2009 what type of granite goes with white appliances maple cabinets and the floor is almost like this white blue marble
    • All Granite and Marble 08:54AM, Sep 25 2009 Dannielle: Well - you could compliment the floor nicely and use this granite, I think it would work.
  • Cookeegal 12:17PM, Aug 2 2009 We have white cabinets, white tile floors and looking to put granite countertops in along with new stainless and black appliances -- go light or go dark on the granite color?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:28AM, Aug 3 2009 Cookeegal: Go dark. plenty of contrast and a modern look.
  • JR 12:56PM, Mar 30 2009 Hi! Thanks for your suggestions. We went with Sapphire Blue and love it with the Honey Maple cabinets! Any thoughts on a paint color to pull it all together?
    • All Granite and Marble 01:14PM, Apr 3 2009 JR: Take a look at Oak Straw. (Behr code: 740C-3)
  • Carol B 07:36AM, Mar 16 2009 We have white cabinets and appliances in a smallish (12 x 15) kitchen. Leaning toward Sapphire Blue granite. Other choice could be Giallo Ornamental. If I go with one or the other, what floor tile color would work? Which granite would work best in my kitchen? If neither, any suggestions?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:50AM, Mar 17 2009 Carol B: Out of the two you mentioned, Sapphire Blue will provide way more contrast. So it will "pop" more. But, it's also going to darken the kitchen, therefore making it seem smaller. I would probably go with a giallo, but not necessarily Ornamental. Check out Vicenza, Firenza, Veneziano.
  • amy 08:57PM, Mar 4 2009 got a dark cherry wood cabinet - what is the best granite colors to match with these cabinets? saphire blue? or ubatuba or absolute black or ?
    • All Granite and Marble 01:09PM, Mar 9 2009 amy: Most probably some sort of a brown/gold would match best. Is the cherry reddish?
  • JR 01:17AM, Mar 4 2009 Hi. We're in the process of redoing everything in our small, but very well lit kitchen. We just got Honey Maple cabinets installed and are struggling to decide on a color of granite. We're VERY open to suggestions, but thinking about Sapphire Blue, Tropic Taz, or Uba Tuba. Any thoughts that might lead us in one direction or another?
    • All Granite and Marble 12:43PM, Mar 9 2009 JR: Uba Tuba is a bit too common for my taste, so I would lean towards Sapphire Blue. It goes well with your cabinets and should look great with both stainless and black appliances.
  • michelle 07:08PM, Mar 2 2009 we have cherry cabs w/ autumn stain, natural red oak floors, 2 north windows 50 sq. ft. of counter, white appliances, is saphire blue too dark. would we be better w/ a giallo?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:45AM, Mar 9 2009 michelle: Giallo seems like a better choice. Especially with the white appliances.
  • danielle 07:16PM, Oct 8 2008 I am consdering sapphire blue granite for my kitchen countertop. The floors are a light cream color limestone and the cabinets are an off white/swiss coffee color with brushed nickle stainless steel appliances.i live at the beach and want a clean beach cottage feel.
    • All Granite and Marble 01:46PM, Nov 18 2008 danielle: Excellent combination of colors. Sapphire Blue should fit right in.
  • Phyllis 01:38PM, Oct 8 2008 Read that SS goes better with Baltic Brown than white appliances. Putting in a Black Cooktop and Micro above what is the objection to the Sapphire Blue over the Baltic Brown? What color paint? Prefer a dark granite over the giallo
    • All Granite and Marble 08:42AM, Nov 5 2008 Phyllis : No objections here. Sapphire Blue will do the job.
  • Phyllis 12:29AM, Oct 4 2008 We have white with grey ceramic tile floor, white applances. We are getting medium maple cabinets. We are considering Baltic Brown, Sapphire Blue or Giallo Veneziano. Which will work better in the kitchen. The kitchen is not a bright kitchen!
    • All Granite and Marble 12:56PM, Oct 8 2008 Phyllis : Baltic Brown or Giallo. I would lean towards the Giallo though.
  • Eve 10:35PM, Jul 21 2008 Installing medium maple cabinets;taupe/lt.grey/cream stone look laminate floor and have white appliances. Do you think the Sapphire Blue granite works? The brown appears to play off the maple color and the black gives contrast. Concerned with how much blue is visible. Was also looking at Tan Brown (426). Thanks.
    • All Granite and Marble 11:34AM, Jul 25 2008 Eve: The blue is not that visible from a distance. Only when you get close you will see the bluish -grey in it. Good choice.
  • BF 01:11PM, Apr 8 2008 I'm considering a blue sapphire countertop to go with my white beadboard cabinets--do you think it would it be too dark?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:48PM, Apr 8 2008 BF: It would certainly give you a lot of good contrast. As far as it being too dark, it all depends on the size of the kitchen and the amount of light you have there.
  • Anna 02:49AM, Mar 13 2008 I have natural pine floors. The granite I am looking at is blue pearl, tan brown, sapphire blue.(or another blk color). I am currently choosing cabinets. If I choose cherry cabinets what dark granite would go best? And If I choose a med/dark brown cabinet what dark granite would you choose?
    • All Granite and Marble 02:52PM, Apr 3 2008 Anna: I would probably go with the Saphire blue. It seems to fit the bill for both woods.
  • Nancy D 10:03AM, Feb 22 2008 Yes, exactly..We'll look at this next weekend and then the Desert River or Giallo Monte Carlo for black island
    • All Granite and Marble 02:57PM, Feb 22 2008 Nancy D: Sounds like a plan!
  • Nancy D 10:37PM, Feb 17 2008 We have off white cabinets with coffee glaze-neutral porcelein floor - large island is black distressed; very french country large kitchen. would this complement both black island and offwhite glazed cabinets? We LOVE your warehouse - so many choices! Torn between lite and dark granite - or do dark on cabinets and a lighter shade on island?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:11AM, Feb 21 2008 Nancy D: This stone has quite a bit of black in it. It would work with the black cabinetry and definitely with the light. Dark vs light granite - light will accent the island, dark will accent the light cabinets.
