Hi, I'm sorry for the late response. I don't really know what kind of colors are New Caladonia and Cozmel because every fabricators use their own names. However I'm more leaning the lighter color of the countertop. Light stone against light cabinets will give you a lot of space, looks elegant and fresh. Then as a backsplash I would use a natural stone like Marble or Travertine. I attached you some samples: Beige Marble, Cream Travertine and Ivory Travertine. Please let me know what do you think ?
Hi, We have chosen maple amaretto cabinets in princeton style and trying to find a granite counter. We have a few option on colors New Caladonia, Ubatuba, St. Cecilia Light and Cozmel. Can you suggest me on this? Also, suggestions for granite on backslash or tile? which is best and look good? Thanks.
Hi, I have just asked under the Typhoon Bordeux stone: http://www.marble.com/material... . Good luck !
My kitchen has glazed ash cabinets(honey colored), dark brown ceramic tile floors, with a tight muted pattern of rustic red and golden wallpaper, and stainless steel appl. Outdoor lighting is limited but sufficient. I'm looking for a rich, elegant wow factor. I have been looking at Tropical Brown, Sienna Bordeaux, and Typhoon Bordeaux. Do you have any suggestions? Also, suggestions for the counter to cabinet backsplash? Thank you
Hi there. The Arandis chocolate is medium to high end in terms of pricing with our company. The Tropical Brown is more affordable compared to Arandis and would also be an appropriate choice. You're on the right track and I think these colors offer an efficient contrast to offset the maple wood cabinetry. Also, you can check out the Boreal granite and/or Giallo Vicenza. Best of luck!
I have maple cream glaze cabinets, stainless appliances and brazilian cherry floors. Trying to decide on a granite counter. Initially liked caledonia but the grey doesn't pair as well with the floors and is lacking contrast. Thinking more gold, light brown to medium brown now. Would tropical brown be a good choice? Also considering giallo ornamental and just found arandis chocolate. We want a warm earthy feel more so than french contemporary. Can afford grade a to c range so can't go too exotic. Is arandis pricey?
Hi again. I'm having trouble looking up the options you've mentioned online, but I will give you some lighter and subtler suggestions with warm hues. Take a look at colors such as Durango Cream 2" x 4" Tumbled Travertine, Crema Marfil Tumbled Brick Marble, or perhaps Oyster Mix Flamed Travertine. I've attached photos for you to check out!
I checked these out and they are too busy for me. I was told by Lowes that I needed to match the cabinets or the tropical brown granite. I found two that I liked but not sure if one may be in the cool shades. It is 355357 2x4 Chrcl delfino glass. The other is a warm color It is 262956 drp 2x1 brck joint cicero. I would like a lighter color but something not too busy. I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks
Sounds good!
Thank you for the information. I will check these out. I will let you know.
Hello. The popular design decision currently is to go with a tiled backsplash from the countertop to the upper cabinets. Have you thought about what kind of tile you enjoy? Perhaps a tumbled natural stone, or a mosaic of glass & stone? I'm leaning toward something like Mystic Green Travertine w/ Glass Inserts or Anatolia Bliss Spa glass & Stone Linear Blend to go against Tropical Brown granite. I've attached photos for your easy reference. Hope this helps!
I am remodeling my kitchen. I have the yellow/red oak cabinets. I am getting the tropical brown granite countertop. I have painted my walls the Monielier Ashlar Gray. I love the color. It pulls the grey out of the granite. My other choice was Woodlawn Colonial Gray in Valspar from Lowes. I don't know whether to take the backsplash all the way to the granite or to put a 4 in. granite on the wall and then put the blacksplash. Which is best? Any suggestions on tile?
Sounds good. In that case, another suggestion you can check out is the classic and timeless Noce tumbled travertine. An interesting pattern to use would be the Mini Versailles style, or for something less busy you have the 2" x 2" sized cut. I've attached photos for your reference. Hope this helps!
I was leaning towards the travertine. Thank you.
Hello Anne. Do you have any specific type of tile in mind? For example, glass vs. natural stone? I'll give you a suggestion of both. Take a look at Mirabelle Collection smoky brown glass tile in a brick pattern, and Philadelphia Travertine w/ glass inserts. I've attached photos for your reference. Best of luck!
Have selected maple auburn glaze cabinets, Gallio Vincenza granite countertops and oak floors for my kitchen. What color backsplash do you recommend?
Hi Zaytron. First off, I'd like to comment on the backsplash tile -- that's an absolutely gorgeous mosaic! I think the Tropical Brown would fit best in this design set-up. The Emperador marble and dark glass inserts should complement and pick-up the Tropical granite nicely, while the lighter cabinets will offer an elegant contrast to the darker countertops. The tight, consistent pattern of the Tropical stone also fits well against the busier backsplash mosaic as to not overpower the tile. Hope this helps!
Hello there!
Please help us decide which countertop color will look bette in our kitchen.
Picture of cabinet and floor are attached as well as the backspash we will install.
At this point our two top options are the Giallo Veneziano and the Tropical Brown.
Please help! Thanks!
I recommend a mosaic tile of stone and glass for your situation as this should fit your criteria nicely. Take a look at Tilecrest Eclipse series Espresso Linear & Glass Stone Blend, and Capadoccia Glass & Tumbled Travertine. I've attached photos for your easy reference. In regard to the wall color, are there any shades you've looked at so far that catch your attention? Any specific color direction you're looking to go in? A soft and subtle neutral would certainly be a safe choice and appropriate, or do you want to add a splash of color to the mix?
We are buying a house that has white cabinets and just had Tropical Brown granite and stainless steel appliances installed. We have option for choosing backsplash and paint. Recommendations? Going for something rich and dramatic but traditional. Is that an actual combination?? Appreciate any suggestions and photos!
Hmm, my backsplash recommendation for the Tropical Brown or Giallo Vicenza choices would go along the lines of a warm mosaic tile. Specifically, I have in-mind options such as Tilecrest Eclipse series Dunes Linear Glass & Stone Blend, or our Capadoccia Glass & Tumbled Travertine. Also, something interesting and more contemporary could be a Mirabelle Collection smoky brown glass tile in a brick pattern. I've attached photos of my suggestions for your easy reference. Hope this helps!
Hello Derek! The tropical brown slabs came in today. It appears the cabinets will match the lighter shades of brown in the stone. However, I still agree with your suggestions of the black/gold stones (my favorite from pics is the Giallo Vicenza). I also saw Giallo Napoli slabs today, and fell in LOVE too, but with all my red accents, not so sure (even though my dining room is eggplant??). ??? What backsplash would you recommend with the tropical brown and the Giallo Vicenza...hoping this will help complete the picture and force the decision. I've always loved a brick look, but am open to whatever will tie it all together the best. Thanks so much!
You're welcome! :-)
Thank you! I will check these out...love the comparson table!
Hello there. As soon as I saw the picture of your kitchen, I thought of a darker, but warm granite color for your set-up. This way there would be a nice contrast between the cabinet and countertops. My recommendations for you to consider would be Giallo Vicenza, Boreal, and perhaps Azteca. I've created a Comparison Table of my choices for your easy side-by-side reference: http://www.marble.com/material... I also agree with you that Tropical Brown is a safe, appropriate choice and complements the design. Best of luck!
Hello. It's absolutely fine and not cliche to use the same granite color in two different rooms of the house. Tropical Brown is a popular and very elegant shade. You have a very beautiful tile color which would in-fact pick-up and complement the Tropical stone quite nicely. Another option that I would recommend to consider is called Imperial Coffee. It's a little darker but offers a strong contrast against the cabinets. Hope this helps! :-)
thinking of the tropical brown to go with mohawk's terrabella moss-russet floor tile. my cabinets are of a medium color stain with a hint of red tint, which is why the tile goes nicely; however, the same granite would go in the utility room w/white cabinets that flows into kitchen. would it work? my sample of granite is darker than your pic and looks like the grays in it match the tile pretty closely but the red in it is very very tiny and little of it. the tile is varied also. you might have a piece that's mosty red and one that's more like this one. any help would be appreciated, even if it's a totally different color of granite. i'm wide open to suggestions!
Hello Christine. Sorry for the late response. The Santa Rita yellow has many orange-golden hues and highlights, more so than Colonial Gold. Maybe the darkest tile then (second from the right) would be more appropriate in this situation then. Personally, I'd use the Colonial Gold along with the Terra di Sienna.
If you have a small space, I think the lighter tile would be more appropriate as it won’t make the space feel smaller. Check out Anatolia Carisma Grigio, Almond Spice, Tracia and Fondovalle Arabesque Ambra. I think these tiles would compliment your space without overwhelming it. Let me know what you think!
Don, I have dark cabinets with tropical brown granite and I would do anything to go with a more contrasting granite such as santa cecilia. Unless you have a lot of natural light coming into your kitchen, or under cabinet lighting is the only way I would ever do both the tropical brown and espresso cabinets again. Another thing to think about is the space. If you have a smaller(ish) kitchen, it will look smaller if all components are dark. Good luck!
Both of these stones would look lovely with your cabinets. You have to decide what kind of style you are trying to achieve. For a rich and dramatic look, the Tropical Brown would be an appropriate choice. However, if you want an elegant and classic design, I would recommend the Santa Cecilia.
hi we are deciding what color of granite that would go best with espresso cabinets. Tropical Brown or Santa Cecilia? thanks
Don
I agree with the Terra di Sienna complimenting the cabinets, but do you think it works with Santa Cecilia Yellow, should we opt for this granite over the Colonial Gold?
As the floor tile choices are listed in the attachment, I would go with the last choice from the right in the pictures (Terra di Siena). This color is not the darkest (the next one over would be too dark) and not as light as the other two choices. It's a happy medium and it complements the cabinets nicely. My second choice would be the first photo from the left, if you need more of a contrast in the design then it's a beautiful, warm, crème shade.
Need help choosing floor type/color in our kitchen/home remodel. Walls are painted a green/gray, light maple shaker cabinets and tropical brown granite. Originally I was going to have dark walnut flooring but I'm having second thoughts. I am wondering if a lighter tile would be a better choice instead.
Okay, I am trying to walk away from the Colonial Gold :) My final design funk is the Santa Cecilia with Daltile Portenza 21x21 Porclain Glazed Terra di Sienna (1st image). At the granite farm it looked to brassy but in my kitchen it's not that bad..but think i need another option..Thoughts? PS.. the floor looked amazing with Colonial Gold, very warm but wonder if that is a dated look I need to let go of..I actually thought the 2nd greyish might work the SC..i'm torn..
I think the Santa Cecilia should be a sufficient, acceptable choice. It's a popular color with warm tones that will radiate against the Cherry Chestnut cabinets. This granite also has occasional garnet-wine colored flecks that will pick-up the wood.
Still working on the granite. Do we upgrade by 1k for colonial gold or stick with budget promotion santa ceciala yellow? Or do you have another recommendation? We selected Cherry Chestnut Milan cabinets with a Marshmallow Cream Island by Starmark. I had previously selected Daltile's Portenza Glazed (21x21) Terra di Sienna but am open to change if necessary, but I must order floor in the next 4 days... Please help!
You're welcome Brad!
Perfect, thanks for the input!
A glass and stone random strip mosaic in warm and dark inserts would be appropriate. I've attached a photo for your reference. Hope this helps!
What should we do for a back splash if we choose a composite black granite sink?
Great choices! These are timeless and classic colors that would offset the cabinets nicely. I am most leaning toward the Giallo Napoleone.
Thanks for your feedback Natalia! I spent some time at the "granite farm" and fell back in love with the natural stone vs. the sleek modern we were considering. The Giallo Napoleone/Ornamental and Santa Cecilia seem to fit the budget best..
Well, you must understand the different properties of both materials. Granite is the hardest rock and has natural beauty that is not rivaled by Quartz, which is engineered and has artificial, consistent patterns on the slabs. However, the Quartz is less maintenance as it does not have to be resealed once a year like granite. I recommend to look at both materials slabs in-person before making a final decision. In addition, I'd use a light and warm color for a contrast against the cherry cabinetry.
You could pick a composite black granite sink. It would look very elegant against the Tropical Brown and the scratches issue would be minimized.
We are doing a complete kitchen renovation and have selected portenza glazed porcelain tile 21 x 21 (sierra), cherry chesnut (shaker style Fielston Milan) with a cooktop island in Marshmallow Cream. What to do for counter?? I'm stuck..Granite vs Quartz.
We are remodeling our kitchen. Have already ordered a darker cherry cabinet, brazilian cherry hardwood floors, tropic brown counter tops. Need help picking out a sink color. We like stainless but are worried about it scratching over time.
For a darker travertine variety, take a look at Mocha or Noce natural travertine. I've attached some photos for your reference. Personally, I think the Torreon is an appropriate choice for your set-up.
We have decided to go with Tropical Brown for our countertop along with a honey glaze maple cabinent. We've been struggling with backsplash tile selection and were thinking about a torreon travertine tile to provide a nice contrast along with some bronze medallions (2x2) spaced every 2 feet. We are a little concerned the torreon may have too much white in it to go with the dark brown counter and maple cabinents, but then again it may be the travertine sample as they are all varied. Any thoughts on backsplash color to go with the tropic brown and maple cabinents? Thanks.
The Tropical Brown is a lovely choice. Not to worry I think it's an appropriate complement. Also you can check out the following: Royal Cream and Baltic Brown.
Unfortunately, we do not have any information on the cabinets in our work examples, just the stone itself. However, if you do decide to use the Tropical Brown, which I have on my desk :) , I would recommend a lighter cabinet like a birch, maple or even a light cherry. Having some contrast gives your kitchen an elegant, timeless and classic look. If you are interested in lighter cabinets, see what kind of options your cabinet maker can offer you. If you have already existing cabinets, bring samples home and see how they look against the wood.
Thanks for your reply. If I choose Tropical Brown Granite, what color of cabinets would look nicer with the countertop? Btw, what is the color of cabinets in your "Work Examples" picture #3?
The Tropical Brown is a great stone; however, I feel the color is just too close to your cabinets. If you want a nice contrast, consider a darker shipment of the Tan Brown or on the light side, the Giallo Napoleone would be a fantastic choice as well. Let me know what you think!
I like Tropical Brown Granite countertop and walnut glaze cabinet for my kitchen, but I am concerned if the colour matches. It is a small kitchen, 8ft ceiling, plenty of nature light though.
Thanks very much for your help.
If you have plenty of natural light in the kitchen space (it's hard to tell from that picture) and if you add some under-cabinet lightning then I think the Tropical Brown would be an appropriate choice. However, to consider lighter, warmer choices, I'd go with a Santa Cecilia or Giallo Napleone. For the backsplash, you can use a tumbled natural Noce or Mocha travertine tile. Good luck!
Yes you did! I think the Tropical Brown will be a wonderful compliment to your kitchen design.
We are remodeling our kitchen and have settled on Tropical Brown Granite countertop. We were a little concerned it may be too dark as we have a smaller galley style kitchen (app.13ft by 11ft) with one window at the sink. I have attached a picture. Our wall color we would like to go with a tan, the trim will be painted white.
We are having a terrible time trying to find a backsplash tile that will bring the space together, we have black and stainless steel appliances and plan to go with a stainless steel sink and faucet to offset the dark counters.
Do you think tropic brown is too dark or will it add some much needed contrast?
What type of tile and grout and what colors would you recommend to bring this scheme together.
I also attache a picture of a backsplash option that we were considering but the big box store has discontinued it.
Thanks for your Help.
I have a condo with a small kitchen 8'x11' with a skylite. My cabinets are golden oak
with an almond tile backsplash the floor tile is Dura-ceramic gold, tan and brown swirles.
My appliances are stainless I chose tropical brown granite countertops.I hope I made a good choice....
I recommend to use a warm natural travertine tile for the bathroom or a porcelain imitation. I've attached a photo for your reference. The cabinets should be light, perhaps an antique white with a mocha glaze. The wall color can be Benjamin Moore line known as Linen White.
The Tropical Brown is a warm, brownish shade and it's definitely darker than the New Venetian Gold. If you'd like an excellent contrast to offset your cabinetry then the Tropical is the way to go.
We re trying to pick out tile that matches tropical brown granite for the vanity in the master bathroom. However, we want it to be different than the light beige tile already in the master bedroom which is adjacent to the master bath for room contract purposes. We are also rebuilding the cabinets so what should the cabinets and the wall colors be to match the tile you will be recommending?
I do not think you made a mistake. As a matter of fact, the Tropical Brown is a fine choice for your cabinets and flooring! The stone will provide your space with a sharp and elegant contrast so go for it. The NVG would work as well but it won’t make a statement the way the Tropical Brown will. My vote is for the TB!
Help! They are installing my new light almond colored cabinets in my kitchen and I have chosen tropic brown granite for the countertops and I think I made a mistake. Will it be too dark. I also like new venetian gold. Which one? My appliances are stainless and I have a hartco pattern plus flooring in a medium brown color.
To me, the Daltile Catalina Canyon looked more like natural stone than your newest choice so of the Alterna Dellaporte so I was leaning toward that selection, but in the end either one is appropriate as they have a similar shade. For the wall color, check out SW Eggwhite and Muslin. For the backsplash there are dozens of options that would compliment the design nicely. I'd use a warm tumbled natural stone such as Noce travertine in an interesting Mini Versailles pattern, or perhaps an Emperador Light 2" x 2" marble. I've attached pictures for you to see these suggestions. Good luck!
Thanks again for your info. I am running into height problems with the tile. Looking at getting Armstrong's Alterna Dellaporte in Taupe for the flooring , (sandlewood, cocoa or driftwood grout). I have decided on the tropical brown granite. Any thoughts on backsplash, grout and paint color using a Sherwin Williams paint. I do not have a Benjamin Moore store close by. Also thoughts on the Dellaporte Taupe with the Granite. .
Benjamin Moore line Honeyed Almond or a shade along those lines.
Thanks for your reply and info. Any suggestions on paint color?
I think 12" x 12" is an appropriate size, you do not want the tiles to be too small. Tan Brown is overall a little darker of a granite that will also provide effective contrast, but I feel like the Tropical Brown goes along with your tile selection very nicely, more so than the Tan Brown. However, I've created a little Comparison Chart for you to see the two selections side by side:
http://www.marble.com/material...
Tropical Brown is surely on the right track. It should be a sufficient contrast and it's a warm brown tone. Another option could be Giallo Antico. Hope this helps!
My first choice was wood as well, but my older cabinets aren't working with any of my wood selections. I am thinking of a daltile catalina canyon beige porcelain tile (home depot). My kitchen has a fairly large area with an island and dinette area. What size tile would look best. Also, my original thought was Tropical Brown Granite with my older honey oak cabinets. Any thoughts on tan brown with honey oak? Thanks for your reply.
I have natural maple cabinets, a wood floor, and rust colored tile. My appliances are stainless steel with black, along with black and beige chairs. Do you think Tropical Brown would work? Any suggestions?
I'll give you my thoughts on the two materials, which by the way both would look very appropriate in your design. Wood is classic and timeless because it can easily serve an entire house while tile throughout may look odd. Wood can be stripped and re-finished while with tile you're pretty much stuck with what you install. Standing for long periods of time on tile can be tough on the feet plus it's very cold. Grout may discolor easily and catch dirt, the tile may chip or crack over time. It's just a less warm and inviting feel. I am not saying wood is perfect, because it's more likely to dent and scratch, and there is always the potential for water damage, and fading from sunlight exposure, but overall I enjoy real wood much better in a kitchen. Hope this helps!
f
Bring samples home of some lighter choices (Santa Cecilia, Giallo Ornamental) as well as some darker options (Tropical Brown, Imperial Coffee, Desert Brown) and put them in your bathroom to see how you like them in the space. Use process of elimination! Personally, I'd use the Tropical Brown, I do not think it's too dark. Hope this helps.
What would you then recommend for the paint colour?
Is suede another name for tropical brown or is it something different, and, if different, what is it called?
Which would you recommend?
What about the edge: half bullnose or straight edge?
Any suggested paint color? The hardware is brushed nickel.
Thank you.
