Hi
I am redoing my kitchen. Currently I have medium oak cabinets (gunstock). I am looking at a uba tuba countertop with a black silgranite skin. White subway tiles for a backsplash. Appliances are white. I am having a hard time deciding if this will look ok. I need some help with wall colors, I have one wall I would like to use as an accent wall, but I'm not sure what color to use. Right now the accent wall is red. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, In my bathroom we're installing a ubatuba countertop, desert gold shiba brushed slate floor, cream crackle tiles on walls along with 3 rows of 1" tile somewhere in there. I'm wondering if I should go with white tub, toilet and sink or bisque. The hardware is vibrant brushed bronze. Also wondering what finish I should use on a vanity: hickory, cherry, etc. Thank you!
Hi, I think that you might go with beige and brown colours of countertops but if you can let me know what kind of granites do you prefer: veiny, consistent more darker or lighter ? Then I will try to match countertop to your preferences. Thanks !
Hi
We have walnut colored laminate flooring, gunstock colored oak cabinets, pumpkin colored walls, brick red walls under the cabinets. Our kitchen has a southwestern exposure, so at sunset we get the golden/reds of sunset. So we have alot of browns/golds going on! What color group would you suggest? Also do we need to put in a backsplash?
You're welcome. Best of luck on the project!
Thank you:)
Hello. I'm so sorry for the late response to your inquiry. In regard to the backsplash tile for your kitchen set-up, I'm leaning toward the Fire & Ice series (this would complement the brick wall nicely). I've attached photos of my suggestion for your easy reference.
Hi. We have decided to go with Uba Tuba ct. My problem is what color/material to use on the backsplash. I have a brick wall in my kitchen. Does the bp need to match the brick wall? The cabinets are honey oak and we will be removing the wall paper soon and painting. Its a ranch home, so I would like to keep it warm and counrty. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
AW
In regard to a backsplash, I'm leaning toward a warm tumbled natural stone tile such as Noce Travertine or perhaps a Walnut Fontane Travertine tile.
Yes, the Ubatuba is an excellent choice in your situation. It's a very durable and elegant granite selection that will offer a sleek contrast against oak colored cabinetry.
one more question, what kind of back splash
hello
I have pavers on the floor and am thinking of a granite countertop, would uba Tuba work. Cabinets are medium oak, don't like them , but need to keep them
thanks
Hello. I'm not familiar with the Rustoleum refinishing kit but did some research online on it. From the looks of it, I'd lean toward the Gingerbread or Provincial color that they offer for refinishing the cabinet shade in your particular situation.
I've currently got Uba Tuba granite in my kitchen with a medium brown, glass backsplash (subway-style) with a stone tile "row" running along the backsplash (which has a variety of subtle colors including brown, gray, "bluish", etc). I've got builder grade medium oak cabinets that I'd like to refinish. Due to cost constraints, I'm looking into the Rustoleum refinishing kit. I just don't know what color to use on the cabinets without the kitchen appearing too dark. Any suggestions?
Would it be possible for you to upload a photo of your backsplash for me to see? This would give me give you accurate thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!
Thanks Derek. I am really tired of the golden oak and would like to change the cabinet color. The cabinets are in good shape and I'm thinking of using the Rustoleum cabinet refinishing kit to change the cabinet color. I really like the dark cherry color but I'm not sure that the dark green tile backsplash would go with cherry so I'm willing to go with some thing more neutral like rustic brown. Would the granite colors you mentioned still look nice? I'd like to go with a dark colored granite but I'm afraid the white grout in the backsplash wouldn't look right. Would changing the grout to a darker color help?
The Ubatuba featured on this page is a very dark green with dark brown flecks, as well as Butterfly Antique. For options with less green, take a look at colors such as Copa Gold, Amarello Boreal, and Tropical Brown. All of these suggestions I've mentioned would offset the golden oak cabinets very nicely. Hope this helps!
I have dark green tile backsplash with white grout and medium golden oak cabinets which I would like to refinish with a darker rustic brown color or whatever would look best. I want to keep the green backsplash what color granite would go well with this?
Hello Connie. It sounds like you have a pretty unique backsplash (that's not a bad thing!) However, can you provide me with a photo of your tile so I can better visualize the situation to give you appropriate, complementary countertop choices. I look forward to your photos. Thanks!
Hello again. We do not sell these tile recommendations I've suggested to you. They are just that: recommendations I'm familiar with because of expertise in this area of design help. We specialize in countertop fabrication so we do not generally sell backsplash products. I cannot recommend a store of website that sells these products, you will have to find them. I recommend to use a popular online search engine such as Google to look up "Fire and Ice Backsplash" to find brick-and-mortar or online vendors that sell this tile product. Best of luck to you!
I have a large kitchen with honey colored oak cabinets.I'm looking for a granite to coordinate with the room. My problem is that I have white tile black splash which has a green and blue vine-like trim which I don't want to change out at this point. (I'm not sure why the prior owner choose this back splash). Can you suggest a granite that would tie this together?
We like the fire and ice alot is that something we can purchase through you guys or do you know anywhere online I may be able to purchase?
Hi Beura. I have some suggestions for you that I think could be quite appropriate to go against your Ubatuba. Take a look at Golden Tumbled Travertine w/ Glass Inserts, Fire & Ice - Slate & Quartz Mosaic, and perhaps Anatolia Bliss Silver Aspen Glass & Stone Linear Blend. I've attached photos for your easy reference.
I forgot to say but we want to use stone and glass for the backsplash that's why I asked about the colors
When we purchased our home the original couple who had the home built went with ubatuba your ID 832. That looks like what we have. We have oak cabinets and the color is spice appliances are black. We have the 4 inch backsplash of the ubatuba granite and wanted to fill in the rest of the wall with backsplash what colors do you recommend?
Well, if you want to use a different cabinet color and granite for the island (in contrast to the Ubatuba & maple combination for the perimeter), I think a dark cherry island color would be a good complement, and the island granite should be light for contrast and to offset the dark perimeter Ubatuba. I recommend colors such as Giallo Ornamental, Santa Cecilia, or Ouro Brasil. Hope this helps!
what would be a coordinating granite for a center island and what would you recommend for color cabinet? light maple again
Hello. You're on the right tracking in thinking about using a tumbled natural stone tile that is not too dark so you have some contrast to offset the dark but elegant Ubatuba granite. My recommendations for you to consider are tumbled 2" x 2" Sienna Gold tile, tumbled 1" x 2" Noce Travertine herringbone mosaic, and/or perhaps a 3" x 3" Glazed Porcelain Portenza Terra di Siena mosaic. I've attached photos of these choices for your easy reference. Best of luck!
We recently had our cabinets resurfaced in cherry with a burgundy finish. our countertop is ubatuba and our flooring is a medium oak color. We are debating what to do for a backsplash and are afraid to make it too dark what with the already dark cabinets and countertops. Any recommendations? We liked the samples of tumbled stone in a charcoal but I think that will be too dark.
I've looked up your cabinet color online and found a variety called Fairfield Maple Nutmeg. I've attache a photo to my response. Is this the correct cabinet color that you have?
We are getting the fairfield flat panel cabinets in nutmeg,
stainless steel appliances and tanish white floor tiles. We have a choice
between uba tuba granite or a lighter granite (sorry don't know the name) we
liked the uba tuba but I just can't picture it together… it looks good against
the samples but as a whole kitchen?? Anyone have any pictures?
I recommend a happy medium such as a granite color with warmth and rustic depth that is not overly dark but not very light either. Before I go in-depth on my suggestions, what color are your cabinets? You wrote that you have black and red appliances, I think that was a mistake somewhere in there. Please clarify. Thanks! :-)
I have tan ceramic tile on my floor, tan backsplash (both have different shades of tan with some a bit darker) and I have stainless steel and black appliances. I am ready to have granite countertops installed and can't decide on a color. I've got red appliances and curtains. My husband likes the dark countertops, i.e., black, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?
Hello! I have a few recommendations for you. A warm and light backsplash to contrast the Ubatuba and pick-up the cabinets would be appropriate. Take a look at Sienna Gold 1" x 2" polished mosaic, Noce tumbled travertine 1" x 2" herringbone mosaic, and Durango Solana 1" x 1" honed mosaic. I've attached photos for your reference. Good luck!
what would be a good backsplash with uba tuba and light maple cabinets
Hi Kathy. To be honest with you, the full Ubatuba backsplash could be a little too much in a sense that the design could get too dark IF you have a small kitchen space with not the best natural light. However, if this is NOT the case and it's a large kitchen area with plenty of natural light then this design will look elegant and contemporary. Just so you can have some food for thought, I will give you two regular backsplash tile suggestions. One is a glass tile from the Mirabelle Collection in a peat brown color in a brick pattern. Also, an interesting idea would be the ever-popular Fire and Ice backsplash tile series which is a lighter choice for contrast. I've attached photos of my suggestions for your reference. Good luck!
Hello! My recommendations for you to consider as an appropriate tile against Ubatuba countertops with cherry-like colored cabinets would be a Giallo Etrusco mosaic or Crema Marfil marble with Emperador Dark marble inserts. I've attached photos of my suggestions for your easy reference. For the wall color, take a look at Benjamin Moore series Honeyed Almond color. Good luck!
We have honey oak cabinets and stainless steel appliances. We've chosen uba tuba for countertop, full height backsplash and window sill. Do you think this will look nice or is it too much?
We have honey oak cabinets and have chosen uba tuba countertop and full height uba tuba backslash. Do you think this will be too much?
My house is not built yet , but I am very excited and will like some help with colors and backsplash , my countertops are going to be like a maple , almost cherry, the uba tuba for the countertops and stencil steel appliances , what color or style of splash back should I get and the wall color for the kitchen to make my kitchen wonderful ? Thank you I appreciate all the help I could get
Hello. You should first make a final decision on the countertops then you can look for a wall color that will complement the kitchen set-up as a whole so it can tie everything in together smoothly and with elegance. The always timeless and classic Ubatuba granite looks sharp against a cabinet shade such as yours and it's subtly golden undertones pick-up the cabinet color as well. Another similar granite I highly recommend is called Butterfly Antique and maybe also Monterrey Green. I've created a Comparison Chart of these three choices for your easy side-by-side reference:
http://www.marble.com/material... Let me know your thoughts on these!
What is the new granite that you've chosen? Is it the Ubatuba that is featured on this page? If so, then for a glass tile recommendation I suggest Mirabelle Collection peat brown glass in a brick pattern. I've attached a photo for your easy reference. Hope this helps!
We are redoing our kitchen and we chose a cinnamon colored maple cabinets. We were thinking about uba tuba granite counters, but not sure. Any recommendations? Also, any ideas on what color we can paint the wall that would look good with the granite counters and maple cabinets?
We are installing new granite in the kitchen what glass tiles to you recommend for the back splash please send pictures
Hello -- sorry for the late response. Let me start off by saying that sage colored walls along with Ubatuba counters are NOT too much of a match, but rather a beautiful complement! I have Ubatuba counters installed in my home, and you must understand that the standard variety of Ubatuba is a very dark, elegant color that has a greenish tint as an undertone, but not a primary color. You can surely use a different colored granite as the bathroom vanity top, the granite absolutely is not required to stay the same throughout the home. Actually, it's the complete opposite of that -- it should be unique and highlight itself as the focal point of the room it's in. Hope that makes some sense! Some other beautiful dark choices that I recommend to consider are Imperial Coffee, Bahia Brown, and Monterrey Green (again, it's not very green at all).
We are upgrading our old white kitchen and bathroom countertops and chose Uba tuba to compliment our honey oak cabinets. Our kitchen is currently painted a light sage color- will this be too much green? Also, would you pick a different color granite for the bathrooms (1 off of the kitchen, 2 upstairs) or keep them all consistent? Also upgrading to oil rubbed bronze faucets and fixtures. Thanks!
I am leaning toward the Tan Brown granite in your situation. This combination will create a cozy and traditional atmosphere.
Hello. You could surely use the Ubatuba throughout the design for a sleek, elegant style and the light floor / backsplash would still provide enough contrast to offset the darker Ubatuba. That's what I would do, but if you also want to explore lighter, warmer colors then you should look at Santa Cecilia and Giallo Napoleone. Good luck!
We have cherry blossom cabinets and i am truing to decide on tan brown granite or uba tuba granite? Woukd tht look okay w cherry caninets and floors?
Hi, We have Ubatuba granite on our island and would like to your ideas for a coordinating granite for the counters. The cabinets are medium brown cherry with tan ceramic tile backsplash, tan tile flooring and stainless steel and black appliances. Attached are two photos. Would you recommend using a different granite or should we play it safe and go with Ubatuba?
Hello. Both are excellent choices but it depends which design style you want to go in. Do you want to contrast the warm honey oak cabinets with a darker, sleek, and elegant Ubatuba? Or perhaps just complement the cabinets with the classic Ornamental shade that and keep the look of the kitchen nice and neutral. Personally, I recommend to use the Ubatuba as it will offset the cabinets beautifully. Hope this helps!
Ubatuba is one of the most durable, strongest stones. The scratches that occurred during the fabrication do not seem like something that would happen often. I have Ubatuba installed in my kitchen for many years and have not had any problems at all. I say go for it!
Ubatuba is a really dark green, almost looks like a black. And it indeed has golden flecks in the slabs. I highly and strongly recommend to visit a stone yard to look at the full slabs in-person as soon as possible to truly visualize the various colors. Seeing pictures does not do the stones any justice and can be quite misleading. For less green and more black, I recommend to check out Black Pearl.
We have honey oak cabinets, black appliances, & med. oak flooring.
We are considering Ubatuba or Gaillo Ornamental for our counter tops.
On one hand the Ubatuba is very striking, shiny, and beautiful.
Gaillo Ornamental seems safe. Wish it was shiny like the Ubatuba.
Please tell me your suggestions as we just can't decide.
FYI- my kitchen walls are a darker taupe (Laura Ashley Taupe 5 from Lowes)
Is Ubatuba prone to showing scratches? The granite company I have used is having to redo my ubatuba counters due to scratches possibly received as the stone was being fabricated. Should I be wary of using the same type of stone? What stinks is I have already purchased my tile for the backsplash (Anatolia Bliss linear Amber Tea) so the stone would need to look good with a pickled oak cabinet, SS appliances and a cream colored tile. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!!
Help!! We are in the process og building a new house out of state..some items, such as the kitchen cabinets were pre-selected. Cabinets are a hojney maple color, I picked the Ubatuba thinking it was black with gold flecks..now I am reading its a dark green?. I am not a big fan of green and am starting to get worried. is there a black ubatuba? also what color walls do you suggest with this combination?
I'm very happy that the project is coming along nicely! :-)
Thanks, I appreciate it. Our cabinets are 50% in and the granite will be ordered on Thursday. We also decided to purchase medium shade hickory Pergo laminate. Should come together nicely. Just want the mess over with! :)
Ubatuba can vary to some degree in color tone between deliveries, but all of them have a green undertone. It's a very dark green, almost a black. Polished surface makes the stone generally darker. You should look at the slabs in-person as it's hard to tell from pictures: www.marble.com/locations
I'm looking for a brushed or leather Uba Tuba but the ones I've seen look more green than black. I want to have the "black" look. Does all Uba Tuba look more green when it's not polished? Thanks.
Too vague. As Kinga stated, we need more project information on what kind of set-up and design elements you have in the bathroom now.
What is the surrounding like? What is the cabinet and countertop color? Are you changing the wall colors? Do you want light or dark? Consistent or wavy? If you can give me some more information on what you are looking for, I will be able to give you some ideas!
I have Uba Tuba tile flooring in my bathroom. I am looking to remove the shower insert and want to put tile in. Besides Uba Tuba, what would some good marble tile choices be in terms of color?
You are very welcome! If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact us again!
You're very welcome!
Thanks, Derek.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, that helps a lot.
I recommend a honed surface for the backsplash tile, therefore I am leaning toward the travertine. It's a popular and timeless choice, go for it!

Marble, as a countertop, requires more maintenance than granite. It simply means you have to seal it more often, always keep it clean, refrain from using chemicals like bleach or ammonia as cleaning agents and you definitely have to be careful with certain spills as they can stain the countertop. If you install a marble backsplash, all you do is seal it periodically and clean with mild soap and warm water. Sealing will help prevent stains from penetrating your marble. Hope this helps!
I keep reading that polished marble is very difficult to maintain in a kitchen? Is it true? What should i be aware of before i install marble backsplash?
Thanks. The baja cream is honed travertine. I like the pattern in the baja cream and i like the polished surface of diano reale marble. I am so confused...
You can use either the Diano Reale or Baja Cream marble in a 4" x 4" cut diagonal pattern with Ubatuba accent inserts throughout. That's a great idea!
HI!
I recently got Ubatuba granite countertops installed with 4 inch backsplash. I think the cabinets are maple chestnut (not sure). I have same color hardwood floors. I liked Diano reale and diana royal polished marble tiles and honed baja cream travertine tiles so far for the backsplash. Since the space is less, i am planning to get 4 X 4 daigonal pattern. I Am not sure which will be best match for my kitchen. I have attached a picture of my kitchen. Also, will 4 squares (1/2 X 1/2) of ubatuba granite as a deco piece look nice? i am thinking of not more than 8-9 such decos. Will just plain tiles look better? I appreciate your response. Thanks.
need estimate for id 748 for island 36" x 72"
Well, the Tropical Brown is a medium brownish shade with warm undertones and may be a better choice than the elegant but very dark Ubatuba. I recommend to acquire samples of both and put them against your cabinets in the kitchen light to see how you enjoy the combination. I'd go with the Tropical Brown.
We are remodeling our kitchen but leaving existing light custom hickory cabinets and stainless steel appliances. We are putting in dark espresso wood floors. We have chosen ubatuba granite for the countertops but are starting to doubt ourselves in that it might be too much dark with the floors too. Our other choice was tropic brown. What do you suggest?
As King already eloquently stated, Ubatuba is a wonderful choice to go against light cabinets for a deep contrast. The low porosity of the stone means that you will not have to seal it often = low maintenance. Go for it!
What really draws me to the Ubatuba is the rich, organic feel of the stone. To continue that natural, organic look, consider using Peregrine C, Sanguine and Shalimar Gold. Out of the ones I suggested, my favorite is the Peregrine C. The beautiful colors and veins of that granite would break up the darkness of the Ubatuba while complimenting the design. Let me know what you think!
Thanks for your input. I was also wondering if you would have a suggestion for a large center island instead of uba tuba I was thinking about another color granite to break up some of the uba tuba, I am concerned it may be too much of the one color.
My vote is for the Ubatuba!
Ubatuba is a fantastic choice against honey oak cabinets. Many shipments of Ubatuba have wonderful golden undertone that will compliment your cabinetry very well. Since you get lots of natural sunlight, the Ubatuba is a great stone to use in your kitchen as is the Green Gold. Consider using beige or a white sink to offset the dark tones of your granite. Let me know what you think!
Ubatuba will look amazing against your cabinets! Its depth and rich look will give your kitchen a sleek and stylish contrast. I think you made a wonderful decision! Keep in mind Ubatuba is a dense and very durable stone which is ideal for kitchens and for resale. Go for it!
I'm sticking to my response on the forums...I think the Ubatuba is a great choice, go for it! Just make sure to break it up with some lighter accent tiles as you've mentioned in the forums, not just the charcoal black tile. The Ubatuba is very dark and you do not want the countertop space to be all very dark!
We are remodeling our kitchen. Decided to go with Almond White cabinets. What color countertop would you recommend - Uba tuba or Astrus Black? Also - we are leaning towards a charcoal black tile backsplash... Thanks for your help :)
Forgot to mention all applicances are black. Thanks
We have honey oak cabinets and floors and want to remove old beige formica counters and update the kitchen. The cabinets have oiled bronze pulls. We like the look of uba tuba do you think that will work ok. (Lots of windows in kitchen) Also, what sink color would you recommend? Thanks
We are looking at white cabinets and, due to cost, will probably purchase black ubatuba. Does anyone have an opinion on that? I think it will look sharp. Cookie cutter, L-shape kitchen with large island. I'm hoping this is a good decision!
I recommend to acquire samples and put them against the Ubatuba countertop to try out the different combinations and see which one you're attracted to the most. Good luck!
Thank you - those are all lovely. Would I dare use something more gray like Bianco Ibiza? I love the carrera look but am not sure if it would look ok with the ubatuba. If so, I will consider a grayish floor as well. Thanks so much.
A dark very consistent Ubatuba is the usual look and style of this stone. A warm, tan or creme tumbled marble would be very appropriate for a backsplash. My recommendations are 2" x 4" Tawny Beige, 2" x 2" Durango tumbled travertine, or 4" x 4" tumbled Botticino Fiorito. I've attached pictures of my suggestions.
The backsplash tile sounds warm and wonderful, but has Kinga pointed out, the sink will surely be a great match to the Ubatuba if that's the direction you want to go in, but we generally advise to not blend the sink with the countertop.
You can use the black cast iron sink but I’m worried it will blend too much with your counterts and you won’t enjoy it as much. I feel bronze or copper sink may wrok a bit better. If you are set on the black sink, perhaps consider a lighter stone like Green Gold.
Tumbled marble looks great against Ubatuba! You can even add a decorative border or accent tile to spice your backsplash up a bit. I say go for it!
I have uba tuba counters. I know they are technically green but mine look black and the pattern is minimal. Do you think marbled subway tile woud look good. Again, there is little pattern in the granite.Thanks.
We are installing uba tuba granite and have dark golden oak cabinets with black appliances and hardwood floor. Would it look OK to use black cast iron sink with oil rubbed bronze faucet. and giallo crystal onyx (variegated honey tones) in either 2x4" subway or 5/8" tiles as backsplash? Thanks.
Love it! See my response below.
You should go with what your heart feels is right. I know that sounds cliché but it's very important to do so. Personally, I am also leaning toward color tones such as Giallo Napoleone because it has warmth and radiance to create an efficient contrast, unlike the darker Ubatuba granite. Another option would be Santa Cecilia, or New Venetian Gold. That's my 0.2 cents, hope this helps!
Technically, yes. Charnockite is any orthopyroxene-bearing granite, i.e. Ubatuba. It's however universally classified as granite by every fabricator.
Absolutely! But what color are your cabinets? That will be helpful in the suggestions.
This is not granite, it is charnockite.
I feel that BM Barely Beige would be wonderful and compliment your design elements nicely in the kitchen, while you can keep the Blond Wood in the other rooms. Everything does not have to be the same color, you want to give the house uniqueness and help the kitchen be a focal point to stand out!
Can you snap a picture of the backsplash tile and upload it as an attachment in this discussion? This would help me visualize and analyze the situation to give you constructive thoughts on the matter. Thanks.
I am installing uba tuba in my kitchen, including an island and wet bar. I am considering a tile backplash. Any reommendations
Thanks for your input. Just an additional note...I have Behr's Antique White(with primer in it) walls in my kitchen which is really great with the black. It has just a touch of pale yellow.
The Ubatuba is a dark but very consistent pattern granite, so adding some color, spice, and movement into the backsplash is quite appropriate and encouraged. As for the wall color, I'd use a warm, light, yellowish tone such as Benjamin Moore "Celadon Green".
I'm not familiar with that stone name. Please be aware that different fabricators may times give a stone their own name, so it can get quite confusing to follow colors from place to place in the stone industry. Perhaps we have it under a different name, do you have a picture of this granite I could use for a match?
Thank you

I need to have an opinion. I have chosen golden lightening, finally. I am being recommended ubatuba due to the difference in cost. Does anyone have an opinion and does anyone of you have either of these granite for a counter top. Deb
