Hi, you are right that leather stone becomes more porous then granite. However the maintenance of the leather stone in terms of sealing is the same as for polished. In daily cleaning it doesn't show fingerprints or smudges at all. That one stone can be use for the countertop in the kitchen but I would recommend you to seal it every six months.

Hello, I was considering Leathered finish granite for my kitchen. I was told, that this material becomes porous and absorbs a lot, so it's not really best use in kitchen (then where?)

My first and honest thoughts are that you should look at the full slabs of Ubatuba in person if you have not already done so. This way, you will be able to truly visualize the stone and you will be able to clearly tell the color tone of the particular batch of your interest. Please be aware that Ubatuba is quite a popular stone therefore fabricators usually have multiple shipments of this color if they are a large company (such as us) and the color tone can change a little in-between deliveries because of the normal characteristic changes of natural stone over time. From my personal experience, I can tell you that Ubatuba is a very dark stone but it has green undertones that are visible. I actually have this granite installed in my kitchen, and my particular slab just looks very dark, almost black (but the green hues are there if you look closely). This also depends on the lightning of your kitchen because if you have plenty of natural light and your kitchen is bright, then the colors in the countertop are accentuated. Lastly, you should acquire samples of the stone to bring home with you so you can put them against your cabinets in the kitchen light to see how you enjoy the combination side-by-side before you make a final decision. Hope this helps!

I am considering Uba Tuba Leathered for my kitchen -- worried that it will look more green than black and I'm going for black.  What are your thoughts?
