  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:48PM, Jan 3 2012 Another beautiful backsplash option is the ICL Glass and Metal Mix Tile or the Anatolia Marble Berkshire Bianco Venatino Mosaic. Good luck!
  • Marble.com - Derek 05:42PM, Dec 31 2011 We have the Volga Blue available at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location. Seems like you're on the right track, and have a great vision on what the finished design should look like. Out of these choices, I'm kind of leaning toward the Blue Pearl as the reflective, metallic flecks in their shades of blue would compliment the transitional style you're right to achieve. To help you in this, the backsplash should be a little lighter, such as a 2" x 4" Calacatta marble tile, or Thassos marble with Blue Celeste inserts. I've attached images of these suggestions for you.
  • Medeamagic 01:23PM, Dec 30 2011 Is this available in Ridgefield Park location? I am doing my kitchen, and I am leaning toward this as my countertops, however, also considering blue pearl, and platinum.  The cabinets are a chocolate color, stainless steel appliances, and the white carrera backsplash (1x2 or 2x4).  The flooring is unknown at this time, as I have to see what is under the UGLY linoleum one now, but would love to make it hardwood, to flow in all the rooms. It is an open concept, with a 2 tier bar to make a breakfast bar, so would be quite a bit of granite. I am more of transitionalist, and most things in the house are traditional, so was hoping this would pull great color from the backsplash, and also be a focal piece. Opinions? Any other ideas?
  • Marble.com - Derek 02:00PM, Sep 16 2011 You're on the right track. I have a suggestion for the backsplash I'd like to share with you. Take a look at Blue Celeste subway tile in a brick pattern. It would compliment your granite choice beautifully, I've attached an image for your reference.
  • Kitingnurse 03:49PM, Sep 15 2011 Hi Kinga- I too want to do a volga blue counter, I have chocolate cabinets and stainless steel appliances. I wanted to do a white carrera porcelien tile- 18x18. I need to tie in the cobalt blue labrodites to the backsplash and floor- what do you suggest- does this sound ok? I wanted to do a light geen/blue subway tile backsplash. I also do mosaic artwork but AI am afraid I may get too busy. I want to lighten up since a lot is dark- please help.
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:18PM, Aug 9 2011 It's definitely a glass tile mosaic mix, in shades that compliment your set-up beautifully. You can print a picture of the tile and bring it with you when you go tile hunting in stores, or email the picture in advance and many places will check their stock and let you know if they have anything similar before you make the actual visit.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 09:32PM, Aug 8 2011 Unfortunately, we do not sell tiles and I do not have a particular name or maker of the tile. I simply found it in Google to use as an example to express what I meant. I apologize but I do not have any more information regarding that example.

However, I'm sure you would be able to find it or something similar to it in many local tile shops.
  • R Shousterman 12:19AM, Aug 7 2011 Sorry to ask so many questions but...my husband and I love the backsplash piece that is second from the left -- it may be the one you described as a decorative border.  Is this something that you have that we can purchase and what is it called?
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:58PM, Aug 5 2011 I'm envisioning this to be a very elegant and modern design concept. The stainless steel appliances are a solid choice as they will tie-in the undertones of the Volga Blue granite perfectly. Another option that would work nicely with Kinga's backsplash suggestions (the blue glass tile accents) is Blue Pearl. You're definitely on the right track!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 03:17PM, Aug 5 2011 Try the half bullnose as it makes the stone look thicker which in turns looks rich and expensive. For the island, consider the Ogee edge. It's would complement the design and the half bullnose edge on the perimeter.
  • R Shousterman 02:47PM, Aug 5 2011 This sounds great; I especially like the second suggested backsplash piece.

Now what would you suggest in terms of the edge:  full bullnose, half bullnose or something with straighter edging?  The island is 5 x 7 and it is an open concept.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 11:55AM, Aug 5 2011 I think the Volga Blue would be a great granite choice for your setup but only if you add some blue accents to your backsplash to tie the space together. Keep the backsplash light and neutral like a Bottocino tumbled marble with blue glass accent tiles, a decorative boarder, or just use a light glass mosaic. Consider doing a light paint on your walls like Benjamin Moore’s “Paper White” or “In Your Eyes” to balance the design.

Let me know what you think so far!
  • R Shousterman 12:21AM, Aug 5 2011 We are redoing our kitchen.  The kitchen floors are chestnut coloured bamboo.  We were thinking of maple cabinets that are painted mushroom and volga blue granite for the countertop and island.  Does this work?  If so, what wall and backsplash colours would you recommend? What type of edging on the granite -- our kitchen designer likes half bullnose but we are not sure that works for us.

    The appliances are stainless steel.

    The kitchen is open concept.

If it doesn't work, what would you suggest for the countertop and backsplash?

    Thanks.
  • Christine 06:34PM, Apr 2 2011 I have honey oak cabinets and am trying to decide a new countertop. I love the volga blue and the emerald pearl. Would either look okay with my cabinet color? Also, what wall and backsplash color would you recommend? I have yet to decide on a flooring material or color.
    • All Granite and Marble 11:56AM, Apr 4 2011 Christine: I'm leaning towards the Emerald Pearl for a richer contrast to offset the honey oak wood. For backsplash, a tumbled travertine or marble tile is appropriate.
  • Samar 08:52PM, Jan 30 2011 This is a beautiful stone, we just had ours installed a few days ago. I need help picking a backsplash. Here is a description of our kitchen; Cabinets are Thomsville Oak Chocolate Eden style with recessed panels, floors are Continental Slate - Tuscan Blue, walls are a light grey (pinkish tones), nickle brush/ss appliances and handles. The design of the kitchen is open with a wood beam at the entrance. We have sufficient natural and electrical lighting throughout the kitchen. My husbands thinks we should stick to a slate type of mosaic, I think we need something which will reflect more light. Can you offer any help? Thank you.
    • All Granite and Marble 10:52AM, Jan 31 2011 Samar: If you'd like to reflect light, I recommend a glass tile backsplash, that has accents of the Volga blue in it, the dark blue colors and some lighter gray/aqua. But for a less busy and also appropriate backsplash, the slate will look very elegant, although it may be a bit dark depending on the tiles themselves.
  • Colleen 10:19AM, Jul 15 2010 I have maple cabinets with a toffee stain in my kitchen. Countertop is Volga Blue. Floors will be red oak. Could you recommend a paint color and backsplash type that goes well with this combination?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:45AM, Jul 16 2010 Colleen: For walls try Benjamin Moore "Honeyed Almond" and a tumbled noce travertine backsplash.
  • ellen 05:58PM, Apr 6 2009 would a bullnose edge look okay with a volga blue countertop in a kitchen with cream matte cabinets, stainless steel appliances and charcoal hardwood floor
    • All Granite and Marble 08:31AM, Apr 7 2009 ellen: From your description your kitchen seems to be modern, and I think bullnose would be too soft. Take a look at 1/4 round or bevel or even straight. A nice simple edge won't take away attention from the stone and it'll be a nice addition to your kitchen's overall style.
  • Kevin 09:43PM, Mar 1 2009 This very pretty granite is from Ukraine, good material!
