Hi, can you tell me if this granite is single or double gold pricing?

  • Peter 05:34PM, Aug 29 2013

Clem, Did you buy this from us?

  • Clem Adams 03:24PM, Aug 27 2013

I bought Orion granite counter top for my kitchen. The edge is lighter then the surface and there is a lot of filler used around
the sink cut out. Is that common with tis maternal that is what I'm being told

The Black Galaxy might be a little bit too glitzy for the cabinets however the Orion would definitely give you a modern sleek look.

I have white shaker cabinets and the floor is dark brown wood like tiles. Already picked out the backsplash - which is white subway tiles. I wanted to a bold contrast color to the white simple cabinets and create more contemporary/transitional style. But would Saturnia/Orion countertop be off with the simplicity/modern look? Would black galaxy be still too glitzy for the cabinets in your opinion?

Orion is a little more difficult to fabricate, but a skilled fabricator should be able to do it for a kitchen application. We've installed Orion for kitchen countertops with success. It is true that this granite is not as dense as some other stones, so you will have to be a little more careful as it's more prone to chipping ect.

Hi Alex! Are you using Marble.com as your fabricator?

  • Alex 08:02PM, Oct 16 2012

We are planning to use Orion Gold for our kitchen countertops, but were told that it's not going to work as it is very difficult to cut this granite, make holes for focets etc. Could you please advise?

Congratulations on your new Orion countertops. It should look very sleek and elegant against a cherry cabinet! In regard to the backsplash, I recommend to contrast the granite and go with a choice such as Durango or Emperador Light marble in 2" x 2" sized cuts. I've attached photos for your reference. Hope this helps!

We have just install Orion Jazz countertops on new cherry cabinets (they have a more brown shade than red) and are trying to find a blacksplash.  What would you recommend?

  • Marble.com - Derek 01:35PM, Mar 15 2012

I totally agree that a soft and neutral tile is desirable to compliment your rich and warm Orion granite. My recommendations are choices such as Merola Cobble Polar Ceramic Subway tile, or a Mediterranean Ivory tumbled travertine from Daltile. I've attached pictures for your reference. Hope this helps!

Saw a BEAUTIFUL and DRAMATIC piece of Orion Gold this weekend!  It looks like it will go perfectly with our off white maple cabinets with coffee glaze and wood flooring.  What backsplash do you recommend?  I was thinking it should be kept simple with an occasional copper accent.  Granite has enough WOW factor...don't want to over due it. Can't imagine getting anything other than stainless steel appliances but am starting to wonder if that will clash if I draw copper into the room. What do you think?

  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:01PM, Feb 6 2012 At this moment we only carry the Orion LH which has a river wash finish instead of a polished finish. Since this is a super premium product, we have to give you a separate estimate reflecting the pricing on this rare stone.  You may contact the Ridgefield Park, NJ or Danbury, CT facility to provide you with pricing on this stone since only these 2 locations carry it. Good luck!
  • Nancyludy1012 09:24PM, Feb 2 2012 I tried to find Orion granite as an option when calculating an estimate on-line but could not find it. What pricing group is it part of?
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:24PM, Jan 9 2012 This stone does not have blue tones but the grays in it may look slightly blue at different angles. The bottom photo is of the entire slab.
  • Cookie 02:42AM, Jan 8 2012 Is there blue in this granite?  The top 2 pictures don't seem to, but the bottom picture looks bluish.  Thank you!
  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:07PM, Jul 20 2011 I like the drama of a full backsplash especially with a unique and timeless stone like the Orion. My vote is for a full backsplash with the same granite!
  • Marble.com - Derek 04:45PM, Jul 20 2011 I'd use tile that is a few shades lighter on the backsplash, as the countertop is quite dark when using this stone. Try a tumbled Noce or Mocha travertine tile.
  • emoram 03:33PM, Jul 20 2011 Hi, our cabinets are chocolate brown in oak, we are using these orion blues granite for our counter , what type of backsplash do you recommend? or do you think we should go with the same granite? floor is light beige. TKS!
  • Marble.com - Derek 02:11PM, Jun 29 2011 We need to see a layout of your project with measurements and shape to give you an estimate. Send over this information to our sales office.
