  • Marble.com - Kinga 04:37PM, Jun 21 2011 Marble is absolutely stunning in kitchens. It is highly sought after especially for kitchens and if you properly clean and seal your stone, you will be able to enjoy it for years to come. As far as pricing, please contact one of our sales offices for an estimate.
  • Biancaneve 01:35PM, Jun 20 2011 I am planning a Kitchen remodel and would love to use white marble as a countertop instead of granite ( i do love the fact that marble ages,i love the old kitchens in Italy that carry the wear of cooking) . Could you please tell me which one of the two is more reasonable as far as costs? thank you!
  • Marble.com - Derek 01:00PM, Jun 17 2011 If you seal the marble with a heavy duty impregnating sealer, preferably water-based, then you should not have any issues. Marble has been used for hundreds of years in bathrooms and kitchens all over the world. As Kinga mentioned hard water deposits are occasionally an issue, but I would not have it be a deal breaker between getting a beautiful and natural Carrera shower surround or an artificial stone.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 12:34PM, Jun 17 2011 Lisae7,

White Carrara is commonly used for bathrooms vanities, tub decks, shower surrounds and so on. People even use full slabs for shower walls and floors. Marble is porous but if you properly seal and clean it, you shouldn’t have problems. Hard water; however, may be a problem. You should get your water tested before you install your marble or any type of natural stone because hard water leaves marks behind.

    Hope this helps!

  • Lisae75 08:21PM, Jun 16 2011 I was told not to use Carrara marble as a shower surround. It seems like it is very common but I am concerned since marble is pourous. Is it not suggested in showers because of the water?
  • Frank 08:21PM, Mar 12 2011 looking for a remnant approx 38" x 81" 1" 1/4 thick for our laundry room
    • All Granite and Marble 02:27PM, Mar 14 2011 Frank: For pricing, please contact our sales office.
  • chad 06:33PM, Jan 30 2011 Do you have this material in 5cm?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:59AM, Jan 31 2011 Chad: Yes, we have that thickness at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location.
  • cem1122 02:26PM, Nov 16 2010 HI there. I LOVE White Carrera, but I do not think it is an option for me in my new kitchen. Can you suggest a granite that is similar to Carrera? I am looking for a very clean, white kitchen.
    • All Granite and Marble 08:35AM, Nov 17 2010 cem1122: Take a look at White Fantasy, Classic White, and White Vermont.
  • Shuri Gray 09:44PM, Aug 5 2010 I am putting white Carrara marble on my bathroom floor, shower and counter top. What color wall would you suggest? Someone told me a dolphin gray would look great or should I use a light gray?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:59AM, Aug 6 2010 Shuri Gray: I'm leaning towards a lighter gray. Try Benjamin Moore "Glass Slipper".
  • Jennifer 10:17PM, Jul 20 2010 We have a very old house, and would like to do a marble kitchen counter accepting the issues that go with that. We used the online estimator, but marble was not a choice there. Can we get a quote for a kitchen counter, approx 36 sf with one undermount sink? thank you!
    • All Granite and Marble 08:26AM, Jul 21 2010 Jennifer: For an estimate on all the marble please send over your layout to our sales office.
  • Florence Madani 07:46PM, Jan 31 2010 We are doing carrera white marble floors, shower wall. What color/stain of vanity and countertop would go better? We were thinking of dk gray caesarstone for countertop. Would wht carrera top go better? Make vanity dark stain or paint white?
    • All Granite and Marble 03:38PM, Feb 1 2010 Florence Madani: Gray caesarstone and a white vanity will tie-in beautifully with the Carrera, go with that.
  • Ishrat 03:05PM, Nov 9 2009 I was told that marbles are not good for bathroom vanity top. we are using carrara for our bathroom floor (honed), do you think it would discolor or not wise to use for top. Please advise.
    • All Granite and Marble 09:01AM, Nov 10 2009 Ishrat: Marble is a popular application for vanity top. It is sealed to form a protective layer. Kitchen on the other hand is a disaster with marble top because of all the oils and hot pans ect.
  • Robin 09:15AM, May 9 2009 I read what you wrote. I have been doing my homework and I had read no marble for kitchen. But these are not kitchens for design, these are real working kitchens in real homes. I was surprised also. Further, if marble scratches, stains and chips, why would I want to use it in bathroom or anywhere for that matter !?
    • All Granite and Marble 10:25AM, May 11 2009 Robin: Mainly because marble, even though quite fragile when compared to granite, is still the traditional choice for bathrooms. Also, you won't have food, pots and pans in a bathroom so the risk of damaging the marble is minimal. Going back to your initial question, as I've stated, no one is holding you back. Just don't expect the marble tops to stay perfect forever.
  • Robin 01:13PM, May 8 2009 I would like to use the Carrara white marble in my kitchen too. And they say granite in the kitchen. But in every magazine, suddenly, I am seeing this white marble !!!
    • All Granite and Marble 04:46PM, May 8 2009 Robin: Most of the kitchens in magazines are not used to cook in. They're more of a "design accessory" so to speak. No one can stop you from using Carrara or other marbles in your kitchen. But you should be aware of the way marble ages. With time you'll get stains, scratches, chips, and eventually a patina will cover the surface. If you're in for that rustic look - go for it.
  • indus 07:47AM, Apr 29 2009 I have recently come across some 'white carrara' that has green veining - I am not kidding. They are quite beautiful. Do you have these on your site?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:52AM, Apr 30 2009 indus: No, sorry.
  • indus 10:28PM, Apr 23 2009 Please tell me about 'statoury white" in the context of White Carrara - they appear to be the same except that the statuory white is " whiter" - are they from the same place in Italy?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:02AM, Apr 24 2009 indus: Statuary White or Bianco Statuario does in fact come from the same region Italy (Carrara). It can also come from Tuscany or Apennines. It's much purer than White Carrara and contains much less of the grey veining.
  • indus 12:50PM, Mar 16 2009 Why is it so much darker than the 'other' carrera - the 460 ?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:56AM, Mar 17 2009 indus: It's mostly due to the lighting conditions. The stone itself isn't that much darker, but it does have a slightly cooler tone.
  • amy 11:14AM, Mar 4 2009 this is really white
  • Sue Hicks 05:13PM, Feb 18 2009 If I keep the marble sealed, will it still dull?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:53PM, Feb 19 2009 Sue Hicks: Most likely, yes. Sealing might prevent some staining issues but mechanical and chemical damage will still happen.
  • Hendrik A Kroon 04:38PM, Feb 10 2009 Love this as a kitchen countertop but hear that even if sealed might stain. What is an alternative?
    • All Granite and Marble 05:13PM, Feb 10 2009 Hendrik A Kroon: Might, as you put it, is an understatement. It will stain. Just a matter of time. Realistically, you either accept that marble will stain, scratch, dull, wear or you'll go crazy worrying about it. If you agree to the "aging" of the marble, and want that look, then it's ok. Otherwise, I would look into alternatives such as some granites (bianco romano for example) or engineered stone. You'll have a hard time trying to get the exact look of marble without getting marble though.
  • Pamela 01:20PM, May 13 2008 I want to use this in my Kitchen for countertops, but have been advised against it because of staining and maintenance. Any suggestions? Once I seal it, how often will I have to reseal?
    • All Granite and Marble 11:57AM, Jun 6 2008 Pamela: It's marble. Be prepared that even after it is sealed, it will stain. Marble is very porous.
