COMMENTS:
The strongest natural stone material for a countertop application would be the Ubatuba and Absolute Black colors. They have a low porosity, are very dense, dark, and low maintenance. I've created a Comparison Table for you so you can visualize both of these suggestions side-by-side:

We are moving to a rental. I would like to find something durable(I cook and bake a lot) to put on top of my dish cabinet to use as a work surface and room divider. The place is only 700 square feet so I AM looking for useful,functional and PRETTY. Help!!!!!!!
