Hi! We were at the Danbury sight on Saturday and found a quartzite we liked. I didn't write the name of it, but have the code: 4811L. It was in the single gold price range... I cannot see it here on the website. Do you know the name of this quartzite? Thanks for any help you can offer! -Chandra

Unsealed Quartzite can be prone to staining if left unsealed. The trick is to seal Quartzite properly requires multiple treatments to ensure maximum efficiency. Quartzite is acceptable for a kitchen, it is just going to require more care and sealing than with a Granite countertop.

I just now read that a water-filled glass can leave a ring on Quartzite. Is that true? And therefore, would it be an acceptable material for a kitchen?

  • Marble.com - Derek 08:38PM, Sep 28 2011 The Elegant Brown has a polished, mirror-like finish. It's a Super Premium stone and outside of the standard five price categories on the estimate.
  • Marble.com - Kinga 05:43PM, Sep 28 2011 This stone comes in a polished finish and falls into the “Super Premium” category. The Ridgefield Park, NJ location carries this stone. For pricing, please contact the sales office.  http://www.marble.com/location...
  • Joro2086 03:21AM, Sep 28 2011 I like this stone. Is the finish a leather look?  Is it priced as a premium stone or does it fall into one of the blue, double blue, gold etc. catagories?
  • Marble.com - Derek 12:36PM, Jul 19 2011 The Elegant Brown has beautiful and subtle veins of various earth tone shades. It has some creamy and beige aspects, as well as gray and taupe. It's best to see this quartzite in-person to appreciate it fully. We have the slabs in-stock at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location.
  • Kalina43 08:50PM, Jul 15 2011 It looks like there are other colors besides brown and gold.  What are they?  Also, where is the closest supplier to Berks County, PA?
  • Mariyana 02:56PM, Feb 18 2010 I want 15sf for bathroom sink top. How much will be with instalation in queens. Thank you. mariana

  • KJ 11:28PM, Jul 30 2009 Cambrian (from Canada) is a granite with a textured/leather look. Its very popular & oh so sleek. You have to look it up. Its black w/a smooth texture and ish slight quartz specks throughout... You have to see it! I can't sing its praises enough. I'll have to check around (DC, MD or VA) for a sample of this Elegant Brw -- not sure it'll work on my island but I'm going for the wow factor. Thanks for the response!
    • All Granite and Marble 09:04AM, Jul 31 2009 KJ: I looked it up...it does indeed look beautiful. Good luck!
  • KJ 11:28PM, Jul 29 2009 This piece is Gorgeous! Would love to see it in person. Does it have ANY black in it? Trying to find something to complement a 20x20 square kitchen w/ Cambrian surround. Nothing on my center island yet. Any suggestions to complement my black perimeter?
    • All Granite and Marble 09:18AM, Jul 30 2009 KJ: We have this stone at our Ridgefield Park, NJ location. It is mostly dark browns/golds, no black. I'm not sure what a Cambrian surround looks like.
  • Mark 09:58AM, Mar 4 2009 Kitchen cabinets are raised panel maple doors with a chocolate glaze. Do you think this will work? Or do you have a another stone suggestion for me?
    • All Granite and Marble 01:06PM, Mar 9 2009 Mark: It's an awesome stone. I don't see why it wouldn't match.
  • mark 01:45PM, Feb 27 2009 KItchen cabinets are a light maple with a chocolate glaze. What is Quartzite?
    • All Granite and Marble 10:35AM, Mar 2 2009 mark: Quartzite is a hard metamorphic rock which was originally sandstone. Because of its very high content of pure quartz (over 90%), it is very resistant to chemicals (much like glass). It's just one step below granite on the hardness scale. So yes, it is ok to use in a kitchen.
  • Lee Atienza 02:18AM, Jan 12 2009 What kind of stone is this?
    • All Granite and Marble 02:49PM, Jan 12 2009 Lee Atienza: It's a Quartzite.
