  • Marble.com - Derek 06:22PM, Jan 20 2012 Soapstone is not offered as an option in our Online Instant Estimate Tool. You can contact our sales office with the Estimate ID of the quote you did online and we can price out the soapstone using the measurements you've entered into the tool: www.marble.com/locations Option number two would be to email (sales@marble.com) or fax: 201-440-6855 a drawing of your project with measurements and shape along with the address of the jobsite, your contact information, and the color you're interested in, so our sales office can create the estimate for you.
  • MKolodner 01:31AM, Jan 18 2012 I don't seem to be able to get an online quote for my counter using soapstone as a material. I have been looking for the green type. Would price be comparable to that indicated in your online estimating model? I have drop in sink, but need an additional cut out for a small draop in cooktop. Would that be an extra $150?
  • Terry hurwitz 07:12AM, Apr 28 2011 Can you send a sample of the Brazilian soapstone?
    • All Granite and Marble 02:48PM, Apr 28 2011 Terry Hurwitz: We generally do not mail our samples, they are available free for pick-up at our locations. However, you can contact the sales office and inquire.
  • terry hurwitz 09:39AM, Apr 26 2011 What color is the brazilian soapstone? What are the advantages/disadvantages soapstone vs. granite.
    • All Granite and Marble 03:27PM, Apr 27 2011 Terry Hurwitz: Brazilian Soapstone is mostly black and gray. Soapstone is non-porous and extremely stain resistant. It's however soft therefore will chip and scratch easily, although it's also not hard to repair. Granite is very durable, hygienic, and has a wide choice of colors, styles, and textures. Some granites are porous so it must be periodically sealed to stay stain resistant.
  • Terry Hurwitz 05:22PM, Apr 25 2011 Do you have the gray soapstone?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:41AM, Apr 26 2011 Terry Hurwitz: We only have two choices for soapstone, Brazilian Soapstone and Green Soapstone.
  • Robert Boyle 12:31AM, Feb 18 2011 Soapstone is incredibly durable. It is far more resistant to stains than granite, but it is much softer. Many types of soapstone will look grey until you use mineral oil on them which will turn them into a different more rich color. Never use food oils - use only mineral oils since food oils will become rancid over time. Soapstone can be lightly sanded to remove any surface damage and will develop a beautiful patina over time. Your high school and college chemistry labs used soapstone on the countertops because it is impervious to almost all chemicals.
  • Ken 02:20PM, May 21 2010 What can I find in granite that looks the closet to green soapstone. I like the look, but want the durability of granite. Please help! PS I'm looking in the "blue category"
    • All Granite and Marble 02:50PM, May 21 2010 Ken : No granite will look like Green Soapstone, especially in the lowest price category. But the closest would be: Butterfly Green, Pocono Green, Butterfly Antique.
  • nancy bates 08:13PM, Oct 29 2008 is green an original color for soapstone or is it altered to be green from the grey-black stone
    • All Granite and Marble 02:51PM, Nov 19 2008 nancy bates: For this stone it is natural. But you generally see the gray/black kind more often.
