Lynn : If you want a warm, country-style look then NVG is the way to go, that's what I am leaning towards in this set-up. |

We are renovating and have white cabinets and light oak floors. We have had a tough time choosing between New Venetian Gold and Black Galaxy for counter tops. Our walls are Sherwin Williams Latte (camel) and the backsplash is white tile. Help on what is our best look for countertops would be appreciated. We are ALSO worried about the difficulty in keeping Black Galaxy clean. Thanks. |

Barbara: I think it will be too dark. Should use a lighter tile on the backsplash. |

Jason,
Thanks for your response, do you think it will be too dark if the backsplash is black galaxy ie continuation of the counter. Backsplash is almost 50 sq. ft so am wondering if it will be too dark with the cherry cabinets. |

Barbara: You could keep it simple and use subway tile or if you want to add a punch perhaps glass mosaic with inserts of colors from the cabinet and counter to accent. |

I am planning on re-doing my kitchen. 50 sq.foot of counter space, cherry cabints, black galaxy what colour should the backsplash be? I would need to change my floors as it is presently white with a bit of grey in the tile. Probably have to go with wood...
Your help prior to ordering the material would be useful.
Thanks |

Jason: I'm leaning towards the Black Galaxy, it will look very sleek. You are on the right path. However if the area continues to be rather dark you should install recessed lights. |

We have a 12'x 12' space. Our goal is to have a somewhat modern style kitchen. We need a little more natural light, so we are making the wall that seperates the dining room and kitchen into a half wall with a breakfast bar. We figure that will help brighten the room considerably. We plan to install a dark honey shaker style cabinet with contemporary pulls and use stainless appliances. We are debating between Uba Tuba and Back Galaxy. We've talked to a couple different places and they've told us either would be fine. We want to add some extra color with our backsplash (maybe multicolored glass subway tiles). What are your thoughts? Which do you think would look better given our goals? Thanks!! |

Gil: No. It might leave a slight haze on the surface though so if you just wipe it off every now and then to prevent build-up, you'll be fine. |

Mary: Most of them are very similar in effectiveness. Hard water deposits may get tough to remove even with the best cleaners (use of strong chemicals is NOT recommended), so it's best to do your cleaning often in order to prevent the water deposits from accumulating. |

There are so many products that clean granite out on the market but what is the best to clean granite with? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-04-20 09:14:19 |
MARY: You could, although it would have to be cleaned quite often because this rather uniform color will show dirt and water deposits a lot. |

Would you put Black galaxy in a shower stall? |

Amanda: Cross out AB from your list then. Black Galaxy will be a tad better fingerprint-wise, but still far from worry-free. I see the dark theme, but with a small kitchen that might not be the brightest idea (pun sort of intended). It would make it even smaller visually. Why not going for something a bit lighter with some red in it. Try Jacaranda Fantasy. I guarantee you won't see one fingerprint on that. |

We have tan floor tile, medium brown cabinets, small kitchen w/recessed lights. Backsplash is 1x1 glass mosaic in blk/tan/brn w/red accent. Thinking either Ab Black, Black Galaxy, San Gabriel Blk or Juparana Star Gate. 2 kids & hate fingerprints! |

JMTHOMPSON: They all go well based on the contrast. It's more of personal preference. |

WHICH OF: black galaxy, absolute black select or san gabriel back would go with cabinets of biscotti and taupe glaze finish? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-07-17 15:51:22 |
Leslee: Yes it would. That's why you can get a black cast iron sink :) |

Tammy: That's debatable. White will be more traditional. Black, more modern. |

I am considering dark cherry cabinets with black gallaxy granite counter tops. Do you think this will work? I have read that stainless sinks scratch easily, will a white cast iron sink look strange? |

I am using black galaxy in my bath. Should I use white drop in sinks or black? |

Cate: Since the island is more of a focal point in the kitchen, I would agree that putting the light stone on a dark island will accentuate it even more. |

I was thinking St. Cecilia on the island and Black Galaxy on the counters. |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-02-21 11:13:21 |
Cate: These two colors could easily work together. The question is, where do you want to put them (island etc..). |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-02-21 11:09:19 |
denise: It will definitely work. Lots and lots of contrast! |

We have dark cherry cabinets and medium light cherry stained oak floors. The kitchen is "U" shaped with a 9' center island. Would you do one or two colors? What do you think of Black Galaxy and/or Santa Cecilia? |

I am trying to decide between Absolute Black and Black Galaxy around our fireplace in the formal living room. What would youo suggest? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2007-08-20 10:50:12 |
Rosa: Both will be ok as they contrast the light cabinets. Be careful with the black though, as it requires a lot more maintenance (cleaning). |

I am buying Maple mocha glaze cabinets, what would look better, black galaxy or tan brown? |
