Susan: No, if anything honed marble is even more prone to staining. If you want a granite that looks like marble for kitchen application, take a look at White Fantasy.

I love the look of marble, white with gray theads and gold. Told I shouldn't put it in the kitchen/counter top. If I have it honed will that help prevent the staining I always heard about?

kathleen: There is no single best answer to this. Selecting the color of your countertops is a very personal process. Sure you can rely on general stylistic advice, but in the end it's your kitchen and you'll be the one looking at it the most. Based on the stone you commented on (Colonial Gold), I think you're definitely in the right colors.

What granite would go best with my kitchen? I have chestnut chocolate glaze cabinets, light color tan floors, and a peachy brown color on the wall.
