Tammy: Are you trying to tie the two rooms together? If so, these should do the job.

Tim: With amber Maple, you should be ok to use the light yellow/gold stones such as the New Venetian Gold, Giallo Ornamental, or Santa Cecilia. The more difference in brightness there is, the more "pop" you'll get from the countertops.

Donna: It might be. The idea with the black strip isn't bad though. Perhaps you can do that while using a tumbled marble tile?

Stephen: You can do either black or stainless steel appliances.

Our master bedroom will have nvg countertops in the bathroom with tobacco cabinetry. The bath tiles are almond color. We are thinking of painting the bed & bath area in an Olympic paint color called Oak cast (kind of mustard) is that a good match/contrast? Any suggestions for floor tile color?

Hi, I have smaller L type kitchen with Amber Maple cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Can you please recommend a granite? I also plan on using ceramic tile floor and backsplash (not sure what color yet? Counter will help determine this). Thank you much!!-Tim

I have a creamy porcelain tile with a gold tone and some gray hightlights, medium cherry shaker cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. If I use New Venetian Gold for the countertops, what kind of backsplash would look best. I was considering having some NVG tiles cut and perhaps putting a black strip halfway up those tiles. Too much granite?

Vesna: Depending on the particular batch of NVG, it should work. The more contrast within the slab, the better.

Kara: If you want to keep it warm, I'd go with NVG. For more contrast go with Tropical Brown. Note that TB has a very slight greenish hue to it.

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

We are building a new kitchen with dark Nutmeg stain cabinets, stainless steel appliances and red oak floors. Would you recommend the new venetian gold for granite tops? Other suggestions?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-19 16:45:14

michelle: For maximum contrast I'd go with a dark brown (matching to the glaze). A more subtle approach would be a darker beige with a hint of yellow.

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-19 16:29:06

Lue: Firstly, I would advise the Venetian Gold as it's much warmer than the dark ones. With a slate floor it will brighten the room up. Secondly, the streaking is more of a improper cleaning issue rather than the sealer. The sealer bonds with the stone and solidifies so there is no way for it to streak.

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

Date: 2008-09-19 10:37:39

David: Not a lot of contrast there. If the kitchen doesn't get much light, this would be good. If you have more room and light, I'd suggest a darker color.

We have cottage style natural cherry cabinets and are leaning toward Venetian Gold Original Granite, UbaTuba or Black Pearl. Our appliances are stainless and we want a slate floor. I would appreciate help on the decision. Also, I work in many kitchens and notice that dark granites seem to streak,. Is this a sealing issue?

We are building a new house. We had settled on dark hard wood floors and creme cabinets with black glaze and a black vent a hood and ubatuba tops. Granite is such a beautiful stone and we are worried that ubatuba will be plain and only have one color, but we also worry that VG or SC will blend in with the cabinets. Any suggestions?

All Granite and Marble - Moderator

I have medium oak cabinets with black and stainless appliances. We are going back and forth on dark vs light granite counter tops. Could you please suggest something that would work with these color combinations?

Jenni: Yes, it matters a lot. Light cream cabinets won't provide the contrast (or at least not as much) that's needed to make everything look sharp. The ideal combination would be: Dark, reddish cherry cabinets, Black appliances, neutral (travertine) floor.

Rick: If the cabinets are dark, then you don't have to worry at all. The contrast between the tops and the cabinets will make both shine.

Tricia: That is purely your personal choice. I would lean towards the beige. But that's just my own humble opinion ;)

We have dark stained raised panel cabinets. We have almond tile backsplash and I am wondering how the New venetian gold countertop would look and what color tile floor would you suggest. This is a small 9 x 12 kitchen with almond appliances with some black. Thanks.

Would a golden or beige tone granite (New venetian gold or St. Cecelia dark) look better with a victorian white cabinetry (candlelight cabinetry) kitchen and natural oak color hardwood flooring? Can't decide!!!Thanks in advance!!!

Rob: Overall you have a light theme. I think you could go a bit darker with the countertops. Otherwise it will blend in.

Gene: If you're looking for a low contrast setup, then yes. If you want your granite tops to be more visible, I would suggest a darker color.

Diane: It depends on the rest of the kitchen, but based on just the cabinets, I think it might be a bit too close.

Kevin: Yes, definitely go darker. NVG and SC will both blend in too much.

Barbara McLouth: Not sure what color exactly your cabinets are, but try the darker golds, like golden beach, golden valley..

We are building a new home and the color cabinets I am interested in is called Cinnamon. I plan on having wood floors in the kitchen and stainless steel appliances. Would New Venetian Gold look good with the color of the cabinets? If not, can you suggest something else. Thanks.

I've got light maple cabnets and gunstock hardwood floors in my kitchen, do you have any suggestions for granite color? I'd like something with black and light colors...but not something that would clash. Thanks
