Have light wood cabinets and light wood floors with white appliances. Walls painted a light beige with a Canyon red accent wall in the sitting room connected and open to the kitchen. Would this color be too dark of a granite countertop for the kitchen with the light wood or would it give it good contrast? Any other colors you could recommend? |

Dee: With regards to Tan Brown, it all depends on the batch. Different lots of the same stone will have a change in color tone. This is why you have to pick your slabs! Out of your choices I would rule out Black Pearl and Ubatuba Gold, too stark. |

I have light maple cabinets and light natural floors, both just about the same color. Also have a lot of natural light that passes thorugh the kitchen in the day time. Looking for a dark color granite that will really pop. I'm looking at Tan brown, sapphire brown, black pearl, and ubatuba gold(black not green). Im kinda leaning towards the tan brown but am hesitant because the redness of them in some pics(have not gone to see them in person). Is it possible to get slabs with minmal red, and more brown?
What would be the best choice out of those 4 choices that you think woud look the best? |

Thanks for the feedback. The kitchen is not particularly spacious. U-shaped, kind of narrow and long. We will be using recessed lights to replace a 4 ft fluorescent fixture, and are adding under cabinet lighting. Had considered a red for the walls, but now think it might be a little too dark. Will not be a lot of wall showing, once done with the 42 inch cabinets and the lighter backsplash, but there will be some. Any suggestions on color family you would point us towards? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-10-12 08:59:30 |
Sandi: Tan Brown is an excellent choice, and you are correct to go lighter with the backsplash & paint, as the granite will be dark. We want to brighten up the room as there is not much natural light. Is the kitchen a spacious area? You also will want to have recessed lights or something similar. |

We are remodeling our kitchen and have selected maples cabinets with a honey spice glaze, considering tan brown granite for the counters, medium color hard woods, and stainless steel appliances. The kithcen only has one window but opens up to a dining area with bay windows. My question is will tan brown look good with all the other choices we've made, and if so, should I go with a ligther shade of paint on the walls and a lighter color backsplash since we only have the one windwo? |

Okay, our kitchen and family room are in one open area. We chocolate maple cabinet with black appliances on a light brownish 12" ceramic tiles. Plan to do hardwood floor (something dark - dark brownish/red) in the living room along with dark furnitures with light cool color wall (light blue/green-seaside with a little bit of greyish undertone) perhaps with some rose/black color accessories.
What wall color would look better for the kitchen? and backsplash? I'm thinking of something warm (beige? yellow/gold? or maybe white?) |

Daphne: There is no limit, you could go completely black and it would look good. Tan Brown has a nice balance between the darkness and browns which accent the wood. I would say it's a good and safe pick. |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-04-03 12:31:35 |
tidwell: Ok, instead of the white and black tile, like I suggested before you can put some red in it also. Try looking at dark slate tiles. Usually they have grays, charcoal, red, and rusty colors which would go nice with your kitchen. |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-04-03 12:29:57 |
tidwell: Go with a tile that will complement the tops but incorporate some lighter tones so you don't end up with a monotonic look. You could go with something along the lines of checkerboard. |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2009-04-03 12:18:47 |
Anji: I would go with Tan Brown since it has far less red than amazon star. Also since the kitchen has a lot of light, you don't have to worry about the darkness of the stone. Make sure you pay attention to which Tan Brown you go with because some batches have light specs and others might have a deep brick-red color. Go with the darker one if possible. |

We are getting KraftMaid Abington Oak cabinets with the pegs in Honey Spice and have what is called Hattaras Red Sundown floor tile. It\'s shades of brown with a redish tint. The appliances are white and the sink will be stainless steel although I love the white farm style sink too to go with my country decorating. We\'re putting in a garden bay window above the sink (about 60\" wide) so there will be lots of light. Do you think the Chestnut Tan Brown would look good with this combination? |

We are planning a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"modern Tuscan\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" kitchen. We want natural cherry cabinets, and the floors will be some kind of terracotta. Medium yellow walls that flow into the dining and living room. We are thinking Tan Brown granite to tie in the red and yellow/gold theme. We have a very large bay window in the kitchen that gives a lot of light, so while this combination could be dark in some homes, it won\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t be in ours. Thoughts about Tan Brown and other possibilities are welcome! |

Jenn: The lighter the cabinets, the more contrast you will get. The more contrast you have, the sharper the kitchen. So it's a fine line of compromising your likes vs. what looks good to others. I think a medium cherry is good. |

I am putting in Antique Brown brushed granite and can't decide on cabinet color. I like darker colors (definitely don't want a shade of white) but don't want to make the kitchen too dark (it does get a lot of light). Would a medium cherry work or should it be a lighter maple? |

Linda: As far as granite goes, you can pretty much use any color that's similar to the cocoa glaze. It will have plenty of contrast and should be a good match. Tan Brown is one of you options. For the tile, I'd recommend a slightly textured color such as Everest Bianco. |

Hohn: That depends on the actual tone of the wood itself. Pick the one that creates more contrast. |

We're having cherry spice cabinets put in our kitchen. Would Baltic Brown or Tan Brown for the counters look better? The kitchen is large and has alot of light. |

Mikki: Tan Brown is overall a bit darker and should provide more contrast. |

Joy: Your choices seem like a very good match. A little bit on the toned down side, but still plenty of contrast for it to work. |

Hi, I have honey oak cabinets with a cherry oak floors. I was thinking Tab Brown would match well with the floors. Would you suggest Tan Brown? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-04-05 10:26:48 |
Teri: You could use black appliances. They will match the tops and blend into the cabinets nicely. |

We are going to have maple cordovan (fairly dark) cabiniets. Light tan ceramic tile w/light smoked grout. Cream backsplash w/small accent to match counter. I would like to use tan brown counter tops. What color appliances should I go with. Not real big on stainless. Would you suggest different counter top? |

We will be installing mission style kitchen cabinets in natural cherry. Thinking of Tan brown, Ibere creme Bordeau or Verde bamboo (being a little bold) the floors are quarter saw white oak in natural. Comments? Approx. 65sq.ft. gramite counter and island |

Natural Oak Cabinets, Natural Oak Hardwood floors, white appliances, and terra cotta pot walls.
Looking at the options of tan brown, black galaxy, or impala black. Which of these would you recommend (or any others?)? |

Julie: I would break it up with a lighter color, such as Venetian Gold. Seems like a dark kitchen already. |

I have honey oak cabinets and Terra Cotta adobe-style tile floor. Both are fairly medium tones. Would Tan Brown be a good compliment with the richness and interest I'm going for? |
|

Yasmin: Absolutely! The dark background in this stone will provide excellent contrast, while the tan will tie the stone together with the cabinetry. |

I have spice colored cabinets and really love the tan brown. Would this combination look good and provide the elegance I am looking to achieve? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2007-12-22 10:50:14 |
Victoria: If you have really dark cabinets, then choose a medium to light color for the tops. Tan brown is quite dark and will make the kitchen look uninteresting and gloomy. Try Giallo Vincenza, Firenza, Veneziano if you like this look. |
