mary: Well, the green is not really a major color in Baltic brown, but it is visible. The overall look is brown. Since you don't want green, I'd stick to Galaxy. Also noteworthy... Tropical Brown has a greenish hue to it (in most cases). |

also, we were looking at Baltic brown. Would you still say the black galaxy over the baltic brown too? Our only concern is with the baltic brown, how distinct are the green tones in this color. I definetly do not want the green to stand out at all. |

mary: I think out of these two stones, the Black Galaxy is the better choice. It would look more elegant and defined. |

what color granite would you recommend for a master bath with medium oak cabinets, cream tile floors, taupe tub, sink and toilet and walls are deep camel color. Accents are red, black and taupe. We were thinking tropical brown or black galaxy. Would that work |

tania: It depends how much contrast you're looking for. Darker stone will "pop" more against a white cabinet. |

i have antique white/cream cabinets wih brownish antiquing, beige floors ..would the oro napoletan be good or the tropical brown better? |

Krissi: Both are good options. It all depends on how much contrast you want. |

kate: For the floor... walnut? Birch might be good as well. |

I have white cabinets and want tropical brown granite will this look okay .What color wood floor would you suggest. |

We will be installing ivory cabinets with mocha glaze and I have chosen Tropical Tan granite and ss appliances. I'm having second thoughts about the granite color because it is such a contrast. Floors are white-washed laminate. |

Felicia: Sure. With white cabinets you can really go to any warm darks. |

Robyn: Well, both persons were right. Usually you want to contrast the cabinets to set the two apart. By doing so you bring out the most color from both. In your case a more subdued color is in order. Tropical Brown is not a bad choice in this scenario. |

I have white cabinets and appliances. I am painting my walls a yellow. Will Tropical Brown granite countertops look good with this combination? |

I have a trad. kitchen with honey oak, shaker-style cabs and a sim. toned wood floor. Counters are not huge. There is a ctr isl. with a cooktop, and a built-in desk in the area. I don't want to emph.the already orange glow. I’ve been told to make sure that there’s contrast with the cabs, and others state that contrast will emphasize the cabs. |

JennO: Well, that certainly changes it up a bit. Have a look at Golden Rock Light. |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-06-06 11:36:08 |
JennO: Since the cabinets are white, anything other than white will create contrast. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Also, depending on the amount of light you have in the kitchen, the stones will look a tad darker. |

Nicole: Should work. Try Baltic Brown and Tan Brown as well. |

Oh, and I should probably add I have white appliances...yuck, I know but we\\\'re moving in a year or so and they are only 6 years old so I think I\\\'m leaving them for now...also, the island is red with a brown glaze over it. Beige walls. I feel like finding a granite to work with my house is impossible!!! |

What color granite would you recommend for distressed antique white cabinets with light beige tile floors. I obviously need some contrast but can\'t decide on a granite. I\'m drawn to the appearance of things like New Venetian Gold, Giallo Portifino, etc, but feel I NEED something darker like Tropical Brown. Any help would be great! |

I have oak cabinets and floors and black applicances. I want something that will pick up the browns and black. I was thinking tropical brown> What do you think of that? Any other suggestions? |

Michelle: It would be a nice uniform look. |

Toya: It does have a slight greenish hue to it. So yes, it would work. |

I have white laminate cabinets, light green walls, hunter green blinds will tropical brown work? Floors are wooden. I seem to see a bit of green in the tropical brown granite. |

I am considering buying tropic brown granite. Would it be a good choice for white cabinets. I was also thinking of Uba tuba, but I don't like the green in it as much. |

I'm getting shaker style cabinets in natural finish maple. I've been looking at the tropical brown. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The cabinets will age to a light golden hue. |

Deb: It will work. I'm just worried there won't be enough contrast. |

Tropical Brown doesn't seem to have gold, so that's why I thought it might work. Do you think it would go or that I should just avoid brown altogether? If so, what would you suggest? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-02-26 10:43:47 |
Deb: The thing is, there really are just a few stones that have brown without any gold. |
|

Thanks for your input. Your suggestions seem a little gold to me, and I was trying to avoid gold tones. Do you have any other suggestions? |
|
All Granite and Marble - Moderator | Date: 2008-02-22 17:06:01 |
Deb: Sure. How about ID27 (Autumn Tree) for a light one and ID379 (Royal Cream) for a dark one. |
|

Could you suggest something either lighter or darker? |
|

Deb: It would be ok. Perhaps something either lighter or darker than this? |

Would Tropical Brown be a good countertop choice for a kitchen with med. oak cabinets, almond refrig, almond dishwasher, black oven, bone stovetop, black microwave over stove, and tile floor that is beige with bone swirls? Would you recommend a different granite? |

Loretta: Ogee is more of a traditional edge, but it's not exclusive to just victorian kitchens. The only time I wouldn't suggest ogee would be for a very contemporary design. |

Stephanie : Yes, it would be a nice choice. |

I'm building a 56" by 90" eat-in island. Is there a edge that would deter from this being a big hunk of granite? I was steered toward demi-bullnose, but am seeing lots of sharp looking ogee on your site. I think that I was wrongly advised that ogee was for the victorian kitchen. |

I have bone cabinetry, ss appliances, med. oak trim woodwork/flooring, lots of natural light -- a pretty traditional style kitchen. Would Tropical Brown be a good pick? Any other any other non-black recommedations? |
