You're on the right track. An espresso colored island cabinet will contrast the Ornamental counters nicely, while a creme perimeter will complement the granite so it's an appropriate balance. In regard to the backsplash, I recommend to consider neutral options such as Oyster Mix Flamed Travertine or Baja Cream 2" x 2" Tumbled Travertine. I've attached photos for your reference. Good luck!

We have giallo ornamental granite with butterscotch oak flooring--which turned out to be a bit more reddish in tone than expected.  We are in desperate need of advice regarding a cabinet paint scheme and backsplash style and color.  We were thinking of a chocolate brown for the island cabinet and cream for the rest, and a neutral backsplash.  Please advise.  Thanks!!!

  • Kerri Allen 05:21PM, May 8 2010 Hello I made an error in discussing one of my bathroom vanity tops. The bathroom that is in need of stone flooring to match up with is done with Giallo Ornamental granite top. Would you be so kind to assist me? The tub in a bisque color and I need all of the help I can get!!! Thank you, Kerri
    • All Granite and Marble 08:19AM, May 10 2010 Kerri Allen: I recommend a light, travertine tile flooring.
  • MelissaW 01:39PM, Jan 31 2010 one more question...I have 4x4 tiles on the back splash, a darker tan in color w/ a tobacco grout as previously mentioned....I have an amber glass tile ordered for a decorative touch...will it look ok w/ the Gaillo Ornamental??? Or should I save the glass tile for a bathroom?? thanks
  • MelissaW 07:55PM, Jan 2 2010 we are remodeling our kitchen...I am going w/ a toffee stained oak...darker tan tile on the floor and back splash w/ a tobacco grout....My first pick was Gaillo Ornamental...will it pair well w/ the all the brown??? thanks
    • All Granite and Marble 03:34PM, Feb 1 2010 MelissaW: Save it for the bathroom. The Giallo Ornamental is a traditional look while the glass tile is more modern, you don't want this to clash.
  • Robin 03:43PM, Apr 24 2009 Regarding message sent 4/23: There is actually a large doorway coming from the living room and light is not a problem. What darker color would you suggest? Tnank you!
    • All Granite and Marble 09:09AM, Apr 27 2009 Robin: Try the other Giallos first: Vicenza, Veneziano, Firenza, Napoleone... See how you like those.
  • Robin 05:39PM, Apr 23 2009 I am painting my cabinets off white or cream. I have black appliances and a beige tile floor. The walls are a medium beige. Should i go with the Giallo Ornamental or a darker color. The kitchen window faces west and the room is small.
    • All Granite and Marble 10:46AM, Apr 24 2009 Robin: The lack of light is the problem here. Otherwise I would have recommended a slightly darker color for more contrast. You could still do it, provided you add enough of artificial lighting.
  • Kenn 03:19AM, Jun 5 2008 We have white wooden cupboards with stainless apliances and cobble milk coloured cemcrete floor. The kitchen is open plan to the diningroom with oregon pine floors; it is small but there is a lot of light. Was thinking of Giallo Orn for a top?
    • All Granite and Marble 12:18PM, Jun 30 2008 Kenn: That's a conservative approach, but it should work.
  • Debra Bass 08:52AM, Jan 8 2008 We have white cabinets with silver hardware and I have white appliances. We are putting down pavers brick with the dark red/white/and some black. We have hunter green carpet that is in the dining room and the kitchen is very open. What color of granite would you suggest?
    • All Granite and Marble 08:56AM, Jan 8 2008 Debra Bass: What's on the backsplash and on the floor in the kitchen?
  • gloryhaze 04:36PM, Dec 28 2007 I have white cabinets, silver hardware and stainless appliances. We are planning dark hardwood for the floors. The kitchen is open to living room, dining etc. I want classy contrast. Could you suggest some colors. I am just beginning my search and don't know where to start. Thank you.
    • All Granite and Marble 12:15PM, Jan 3 2008 gloryhaze: If your kitchen has a lot of light, I would suggest going a lot darker than this stone. Perhaps a Platinum Bahia?
  • Maureen 01:56PM, Sep 22 2007 I have very crisp white kitchen cabinets with a light hardwood floor and yellow butter cream walls. I was looking at Baltic Brown or Giallo ornamental. Would one of them work or is there a better choice.
    • All Granite and Marble 01:43PM, Sep 27 2007 Maureen: Baltic Brown will create a lot more contrast, for a bolder look.
  • Anne 01:50AM, Aug 1 2007 I am pleasantly surprised how great this looks with the cream- still nice contrast!!- especially with the black accents/hardware. I may go with ornamental- great web site!!
    • All Granite and Marble 10:09AM, Aug 11 2007 Anne: Thanks!
  • cw 01:48AM, Jul 31 2007 The colors in my kitchen are identical to this kitchen, minus the red color. Would santa cecilia or new venetian gold look good in it.
    • All Granite and Marble 09:58AM, Aug 11 2007 cw: Santa cecilia is ok if you wan to keep the kitchen toned down.
  • Esmeralda 03:26PM, Jul 20 2007 New Venetian Gold is pretty similar to this granite...will it look good with a dark cherry cabinet color?
    • All Granite and Marble 04:18PM, Jul 20 2007 Esmeralda : Yes it will look great! :)
  • All Granite and Marble 05:38PM, Jan 23 2007 Yes, it will work good.
  • melissa 08:00PM, Jan 20 2007 We have picked out a light Cherry Cabinet with a Butterscotch glaze, due you think Gaillo Ornamental will go with it - we love this granite
    • All Granite and Marble 10:41AM, Jan 4 2010 MelissaW: It will provide the needed contrast, it should work well.
  • ALI 02:36PM, Dec 19 2006 THIS IS GIALLO ORNAMENTAL FOR SURE...
